I recently moved to the area and happy that I finally found a consistent gel x nail tech after a bit of trial and error at other salons. Book with Lynn! I've paid between $77-$80. Adding chrome a few times. You can get a fill for a cheaper price, but I like to do something different with a fresh set each month. I've had pedicures here with no complaints and fair pricing.

Absolutely LOVE this place! I went to star nails for the first time this morning and have absolutely found my new nail tech. I don't remember her name, it started with an R. She was so incredibly sweet and listened to what I liked and didn't like. She was much more gentle than others at different salons in the past. Only $45 for an acrylic fill today.

The first time my daughter and I went and we got our nails done with two amazing ladies. We were happy with the design, colors, and service. This is the only place I know around Escondido and San Marcos that provide so many options for charms. my nails are still intact after two weeks with minor chips and lost 1 charm. My daughters lost her nails after two weeks but they were amazing when they were new. We paid $240 for both

These were the most reasonably priced nails I have ever gotten. I asked for gel builder on my natural nail, and they executed perfectly the color shape and everything. The inside is nice and calm the doors were open with the breeze coming through. It was a lovely vibe. I believe the gal that I saw her name started with an N but she has the first booth as soon as you walk into the right she's so sweet and very detailed with her work. I live about half an hour away. I just happen to be in the area while I needed a feel but I will definitely be making the drive to go back and see her. That's how good they are

Sadly, 1 is generous. I was hesitant to complain but it was, (and still is) very painful, and my family has encouraged me to do so for possible future guests as well. I probably wouldn't make as big of a deal if it was a Little Nick, but this was one deep cut that really hurt and two or three smaller ones that are also causing issues. Beyond that, take a look at the manicure much of the cuticle that should've been pushed back is still there while she cut live skin. I'm not sure if you can see it but if you zoom in you can see the different layers of paint and also it doesn't go all the way to the nail bed edges. I called the management after three days and told them about the issue, kindly. She said she would talk to her boss and refund my money if I came in. When I came in, she asked if I was the one that called I told her I was and showed her my nails. She said something out loud and several others came and looked and gave me a sorrowful face. I think her and then she told me I will give you $20 because your toes are fine. She then went on to say you will be fine, you will be fine and squirted peroxide on my hands without my permission. I am kind of appalled at the way that this was handled. At this point it's not about the money it's the principal. Hi, of course, will never return. I hope they give some training to the customer service people and also the nice lady who did my nails.

Do not come here! I just spent 40 dollars here for a soak off and gel pedicure. My acrylic nails were ripped off...not soaked and part of it is still on. I went to the front desk and told the guy that she didn't soak them off she just used another nail to rip them off and he still charged me 15 for it. My gel toes also are a mess. I have never had this bad of service at a nail salon. Will not be coming here ever again. read more

I have been coming here for YEARS, and I NEVER walk out disappointed. All ladies do a wonderful job with nails and toes. I get acrylic done by either Amy or Jenny and they always exceed my expectations. Their salon is always so welcoming and has the best energy. My husband and I both LOVE pedicures from here, we even make the commute just to come to this salon. It's always so clean and fresh inside, and they always accommodate to what the customer wants. I've tried various nail salons across San Marcos and this one is one of the better ones! They clean very well and prices are comparable to other salons. But more importantly, there is a wide variety of colors and the massages are enjoyable - it isn't a gentle rubbing like I've experienced at other places. One unique thing that stood out to me is that they have this type of sun shade that they put to block customers from sun when it shines through the window. Great service. Will definitely return! read more

I have Ben coming here for 3 years , they have always Ben friendly and welcoming! I usually nail salons are not friendly and lack interaction here they Interact and know you as a individual! On July 3rd I went to get a mani and pedi , I asked for gel on my feet . For starters, she nipped my cuticle, and then as she was applying the gel polish, she tried to hide what she did. I told her to use alcohol and she continued on. As she finished, she placed my foot in the dryer and I'm damn near crying because my toes was burning. As for my manicure!!! I'll skim it up. I asked for ballerina shape, she took 10 minutes to figure it out. Long story short I was charged $81 while others was charged less, the next day nails was lifting and my right index finger nail was split from the middle resulting in my actual nail attached to it ( there is blood) . I keep it bandaged with gauze read more

Here's a picture of what my nails looked like 36 hours after my "manicure" The picture says it all. I went back for an explanation. They said there's "no guarantees"? As a business owner myself I would never sell trash like this to anyone. Zero self-respect they must have . I could do better left-handed with my eyes closed . Update: Upon further research I have found that they may be using gel polish for basic manicure without the light. Which is completely ridiculous and amateurish read more

I made an appt for my mother and I to have a spa pedi side by side. They took my mother first and sat another lady and her friend in the next chair, telling me, "we are a little busy". I reminded the gal we both have appt at 1:00 as to sit together!! They were not ready for me until 19 minutes later, 3 chairs down! I waited for my mother and then left. I won't bring my mother here again! I'll go to a better salon! A salon where they listen to my request!Zero rating to be honest! read more

This place came highly recommended so I was excited to find a permanent spot again. I don't leave reviews for things like this especially for small business but the lady was giving me the pedicure was not gentle but the most annoying part was to come home and realizing as I was climbing into bed that my large toe was not filed down. I looked closely and I could tell none of them were filed, they had sharp edges. First and last for us. read more

I'm so disappointed in this place. I've been coming here since last summer and it was fine up until today. I had made an apt for 12 for mani and pedi.. the main boss lady (you can tell who she is because she's all over the place) started on my mani and then passed me on to the young lady who was gonna be taking over. I never got her name but she's the youngest one there. VERY rude. I went in smiling, minding my own business.. she sits me down and starts on my hands and the boss lady comes and starts on my feet. Mind you she got up like 6 times ... ok whatever, she's got a business to run, I didn't care. But the chick starts hurrying up on my hands and left them so ugly. There was debris on my index finger so I kindly asked her if we could re do that one or fix it and she yanked my hand and I could immediately tell she got upset. Usually they clean around your nails and make them look pretty.. skin was so dry around, nail polish around the nail, and when I told the lady she quickly just grabbed acetone and quickly wiped my nails and continued on my feet. They still looked horrible. I kept quiet. I was just gonna accept it, but when they're that ugly you can't help but keep looking at them. So she starts talking in Chinese with the boss lady and she comes and tells me yeah let me fix your nails I can tell because you keep looking at them. I said yes, they look ugly. So she quickly tries to "fix " them.. but hardly did much. They still looked messy. Whatever. I took it. So the young chick continues to work on my pedi. She then quickly paints my nails and leaves. I've always been told hey wait ten minutes or thank you or even bye! Something to say hey we're all done. She said nothing and I never saw her again. What is wrong? Honestly? We exchanged a few words. There is a big language barrier so there's no way we can have a regular conversation..How can someone be so mean to someone they just met. I left really frustrated. Might have to take my business elsewhere. (*didn't snap pictures of my nails because I'm not a fan taking pics of then or of my feet). read more

I had my nails done by the owner, who did an incredible job. It was my first time having acrylics done and knew essentially nothing, not even how to ask for what I wanted, but I'm so so happy with how they look! She also kept me updated throughout the process, making sure I was content with every step. They still look great over a week later! Super kind staff, super great service. 10/10 read more

She noticed one of my toenails was uneven (i accidentally cut it way too short at home) and she fixed it for me! It was so nice talking to her and my nails came out soooo good. It's not the first time I've been treated roughly in nail salons; however, this is the first time my hand has been hurt. The woman who served me was quite mad at me because I said that I just wanted a simple manicure instead of Gelish. I have my reasons for preferring a simple paint this time, but she kept insisting that I go gelish, but I kept my answer a "no" and she kept telling me all the while that she felt bad for me for just coming to have my nails painted, and I said that the manicure included a little more than that (cuticle trimming and massage) and the woman treated me worse and worse. She told me to pay her, which was weird to me since I never get paid before the work. It was $17 all at once (a relatively good price considering I was expecting more than just two sloppy coats of nail polish). When she did the massage, she really hurt my hand. She was using a lot of force and squeezing me until my skin was sore. Attached evidence below. read more

Extremely unsanitary. All the bits and cutters were definitely not cleansed or sanitized. Multiple of my fingers were nicked with the y sanitized Cuticle cutters and she soaked the blood with cotton balls and kept going without cleansing the area.I would highly suggest you not go here. Service is ok it's not bad. My nails came off a day after I had to come back and get them redone and then the rest just fell off the day after that. It was so bad it was funny. They do the best designs and always the latest colors, polish, powders, equipment, and is clean. The staff is welcoming, friendly and I love that they want to know you by first name. My nails really needed a refresh and I called a few hours before to see if they could fit me in for a dip powder manicure. They said yes and were very accommodating (as they always are when i call same day) and Jenny did the most beautiful job on my nails! I asked for blue holographic and this is how they came out. I have been going here for a little bit. I would make an appointment and get the same girl every time. She would not listen to me when I would ask to make them short. She wanted me to have long nails. I cannot have long nails due to work and I explained to her why and she still wouldn't go shorter. So I would have to actually file my own nails down in between getting them filled because I have to have short nails for work. So I'm overdue to get my nails done and one fell off... this is what was underneath!! Fungus!! They do not use clean, new instruments and I guess this is what you get when they don't clean their things. Needless to say I will not be going back here. read more

I've been coming here for over 3 years and today was the strangest experience. My technician forgot the type of manicure and was very apologetic. It's no biggie it happens. But coming up to the cashier was very uncomfortable. When I was asking to clarify the total she was pretty rude to me and by her tone remarking to her co workers it was pretty obvious she was making fun of me. I'd asked for 2 tens instead of a twenty to which she gave me a twenty . I reminded her I'd asked for 2 tens. No response just the money and another loud side mark to the technicians still there. I wish I'd caught her name but I was so angry I thought it best I leave before I lost my temper . Perhaps because the store is under new management? I hope she's not the new owner . One of the best nail salons I've ever been to. Highly recommend this to anyone in the San Marcos/San Diego area. I drive 45 min every time to this salon because it is sooo worth it. The salon is very nice and has comfortable seating and pedicure spas. They can accommodate any design or look you want, they are all very talented. Speaking of the staff, they are the kindest ladies, they always welcome me into the salon. The prices are excellent and some of the best in the area. Amy and the entire staff are amazing and always friendly. The shop is always clean. My nails always look great, and Amy and entire staff can always accommodate any design ideas. I have been coming here for 5 years and Tee is my favorite. If you can't get her ask for Yen or Lynn, they also do an amazing job on pedicures. I always feel welcome every time. I am updating my review today based on a very rude customer. I sat and watch a woman with her friend with a bratty child be so rude to the staff. The complaining woman could not pick a color if her life depends on it. Wanted a color change after she picked it out. Which I get. Her friend sent over a dozen other colors with the same response "No!" And then "I don't care which color but no red". The staff bent over backwards for her for twenty min trying to make her happy. The staff was nothing but professional and over accommodating to her but nothing would please her. It was clearly a case of someone wanting something for free or getting away with not tipping. The woman's friend who tried to help her paid no attention to her child who was picking his nose, jumping around and using the chairs as if it was a jungle gym. I may not be a parent but I know what a well behaved child is. For a parent or people who take out frustration on service staff is uncalled for. Get a sitter or wait until someone can watch your child. The staff does an amazing job day in and day out. I have been coming here every two weeks for over seven years with nothing but a warm welcome every time I visit. read more

When asked what shape I wanted (and I want to emphasize that I was asked), I said coffin and specified that I wanted them on the shorter side. The nails ended up a bit longer than I prefer, but to be fair, that's on me -- I should have spoken up during the service. My concern is with pricing transparency. There was no discussion about cost beforehand, and pricing is not listed on the website. At checkout, I was shown a total of $68 for the full set, which I was completely fine with. However, I was then informed there was an additional $10 "shaping fee." I've been getting my nails done since middle school and have never been charged a separate shaping fee for a standard shape like coffin. To make matters more confusing, my nails are actually more square than coffin, so I was surprised to be charged extra for a shape I didn't really receive. I don't mind paying for quality work -- and the work itself was beautiful. But being surprised with additional charges at checkout left me feeling caught off guard. Clear communication about pricing upfront would make a big difference in the overall client experience. If you decide to visit, I'd just recommend asking about total pricing beforehand to avoid surprises. Overall: gorgeous work, but pricing transparency could definitely be improved.

If you have the video, that's great, it will reflect his behavior exactly as I stated from the beginning. My girlfriends lives and San Marcos so for Valentines I bought her a gift certificate for some spa and nail treatment. I search around in San Marcos and came upon Star Nails. The salon is absolutely clean and the staff was really friendly. The price was really competitive also. My girlfriend recently used the certificate and was very happy with their service! I finally succeeded in getting her something worthwhile and something that she really enjoys. As a matter of fact, she enjoyed it so much that she scheduled her next appoint there already!
