Update: Exactly 1 week and the edges are starting to lift/chip. This started happening a few days ago. Pics attached.

I let the lady know I was interested in getting a full set french manicure. She let me know the wait was 20 minutes so I waited. The lady that did my nails rushed through the whole process. I took some photos as soon as I got in my car. This is the worst work I've ever gotten done. I cannot believe I was charged 60 for this. Never again. Save your hard earned money and go somewhere else.

Worst dip manicure ever!! Everything is bumpy and uneven. My nail tech filed through the color and some pink in coming through. My hands are raw because she scraped me twice. I would look anywhere else before going here. Plus it took almost an hour and half and I waited for 45 minutes for the ugliest manicure I've ever had.

I have been a customer for a couple of years and I've never had a bad experience. You ladies rock! Lynn, I received so many compliments on my nails yesterday, thank you!

Been here a few times but haven't left a review. I know I know... For shame. Any Who. This salon is simply fantabulous. I got a no chip French manicure, a regular spa pedicure ( which is extraordinary :p), and eyebrow wax. All of which was done in an hour maybe 1 hour and 20 minutes while they were already busy. They make sure to take the time to get everything done to your satisfaction but not drag on like some places do. And while there is some chit chattering going on and a TV its at a tolerable level and the stylists are so polite and considerate. They will engage in conversation if you want, or let you relax in silence. I always bring my friends here and tell them how good it is. I also think it speaks in volumes when they know a multitude of customers by their names. As Shia LaBeouf would say: Go to star nails! Do it. What are you waiting for? Just DO IT!!!!

Here are my nails, AFTER, a manicure. By the way, I was charged $2 to remove ALL nail polish on one hand and there's still polish left over.

If I could give zero stars, I would. The service that I went in for was a manicure, no polish. I explained that I am very tired and just didn't want to clean up my nails before I polish them myself (I do my own gel). I had a girl in the second chair. She hardly spoke to me and did a terrible job. My nails are not filed evenly, smooth, or all the same shape. My cuticles are still a hot mess. And to top it off, she rushed through the hand massage. I wish I didn't pay. After getting home, I felt more and more ripped off, so I called to ask for a refund and they refused. They said to come back. If they did a bad job the first time, I'm not wasting my time to go back. I hardly ever write reviews, but this deserved one. Ah! The girl who did my nails sent a message on here to me. Tried telling me that they are even and look good. Check out the pics that I posted and see for yourself.

I just had an amazing experience at Star Nails of Elgin! My nails (no-chip mani/pedi) look amazing & the eyebrow wax was fast and painless. Lin & Tony were so kind & gentle & they do such a great job at a very fast pace. The chairs are sooo comfortable & I got a much needed massage, so relaxing! Well placed flat screen TVs for entertainment and such a peaceful environment. This will be my new place, as I just moved to the area. I'll see you guys every 2 weeks for up keep! Next time I may even bring my 4 year old daughter, as I saw several kids there enjoying there $5 kids manis! See you soon & thank you!!!

I tried a different nail salon and the no chip- chipped. My friend recommended Star Nails. I have had my no chip on for 2.5 weeks and they are doing awesome. Many nail techs and easy to get into. Fair pricing and quality work. read more

I have been going to star nails for a few at least 4 years but I go as needed. The last time I went I waited 35 mins and was the last appointment my nails were done thick and they were coming apart. The tech was saying the nail polish was not going on good and she kept putting layers. I called back and let them know that they are coming apart and too Thick the Same person fixed them and was blaming me. She said it had to be something I was doing. I felt really bad I don't ever complain about the nails I know how hard they work but the nails were terrible uneven. Every nail polish i tried to pick out she said she doesn't want the same problems. I will not be going back I will Find another nail salon. read more

They did a very thorough job! I had my acrylics done in the Fall, & the very pretty orange & red mini leaves I had to decorate one nail on each hand were so charming. It's not fancy inside, but it was clean, & everyone was friendly. read more

I went in for a gel manicure. I was sat with an older gentleman who's station was filthy. When removing my old gel polish, he didn't let the remove soak into the polish long enough and just resorted to painfully scraping the polish off with a metal tool that definitely wasn't designed for nail use. I could have done that at home but it's so bad for the natural nail. I was very unhappy with my finished manicure. The polish is uneven, thicker at the tips, and full of dents and rough spots. The worst part was he tried to make it appear as if he was opening a fresh bag of tools but it was clearly already opened and used. Just all around disappointing and very unhygienic. The young lady doing the nails next to him was doing a very impressive job though and had a clean station. I guess it just depends on who you get. If they seat you with an old man with a filthy work station, RUN! read more

Man who did my pedicure was very nice, and did a nice job trimming my nails and cuticles, and applying polish. However, I had calluses and he just gave them a light once over. In the past I'd have a lot of skin on the towel but there was literally none this time. I've gone several times before and been very pleased, my feet looked great! But this time I'm going to have to keep working on my calluses myself. Also I had a appointment and had for wait 35 minutes, and the whole pedicure was shorter than that. read more

I asked for dip powder nails and the nail tech Irene put my nails under the blue light. Dip powder nails are not supposed to go under the light, very disappointed with service will not be going there anymore read more

Looked online and saw they open at 11 on Sunday. I got there at 10:50 in hopes of being one of the first ones to get an appointment. Two women walked in the doors so I figured, oh they opened early, and followed them in. There were already 3 people inside getting manicures. One of the women in front of me was taken back right away. Myself and the other were told to come back in 30 minutes because there were not enough people. I signed my name to the list. I returned at 11:30 as asked. When I walked in someone was paying at the counter so I waited behind her. When she was done paying the guy helping her walked away and did no acknowledge that I was standing there. I stood there a little longer and then decided to sit and wait since I had already signed in. There were now at least 8 people working. I sat and no one acknowledged me so I left. read more

I was back in the area for a long weekend and needed my nails done last minute. Found this place on Yelp and made an appt same day. I believe Jenny was who completed both my 6-step pedi and gel mani. Not only did everything turn out great, they were super nice and detailed from start to finish. I was very pleasantly surprised how great my experience was. They have wonderful staff, knowledgeable and friendly. Their work is amazing, very professional. If you have any design for your nails in mind, the staff does a good job of making it possible. A lot of nail salons around and near Elgin, but I wouldn't trust my nails to anyone of them, Star Nails is the best. read more

I should've been coming here for my nails! I thought it'd be a regular looking nail salon BUT when I walked in I was blown away by the decor and cleanliness. I love their choice in furniture and the color of the whole salon! There's a huge variety of nail colors to choose from. Kay fixed my nails up so well cause my pointer finger acrylic fell off lol. While I was drying my nails I accidentally messed it up but she happily fixed it! Overall, the prices are affordable and you will definitely have a good experience here! This is my favorite place to get my nails done ! Lynn does a wonderful job specially with nails design. The nail salon is always clean and all their tools are always sanitized and squeaky clean. This place was okay. My mom and I came here together. There was a bit of a wait though we had made a reservation. The equipment and space wasn't kept up as well as the place I usually go. The tools looked semi clean, but some things had clearly been used for other people and not cleaned. The chairs and desks were worn. Pricing was average. My technician talked a lot and was a little obnoxious, but did a fine job. I gave it 3 stars because it lasted for 3 weeks, which I'm happy with. read more

I would highly recommend this salon. Irene does my nails and I am never disappointed. She does an amazing job and always makes sure they are perfect and that I am happy before I leave the salon. Salon has made nice improvements lately. All the staff, from what I have observed, are very friendly and it feels like a family atmosphere. I've been going here for about 2 years and haven't seen any turn over of techs so it must be a nice place to work at as well. read more

Best nail salon around! I've been going here since i was 15. I'm now 21 and its still my all time favorite. All workers here care deeply about their customers. They're super friendly and inviting. They make you feel like you're with friends! I will never go another place for my nails. I've tried other places where they're disrespectful or get mean if you don't like something. The workers here are always asking and making sure you're happy with my results and fix anything that might be bothering you! Overall great place. I can't praise it enough! read more

It's hard to see in the pictures but in addition to where the dip already chipped, there are actually cracks all throughout the dip on most nails. The positives, though! Amazing service, skilled technician, taking COVID seriously with sanitizer + masks + plastic guards/shields. Also my pedicure is still going strong. I would honestly give this place a second try (except I don't live nearby), it may have been a bad batch of dip powder or bad top coat, etc.

Average prices for this area. They take walk ins and appointments. It was clean inside. The staff was helpful and friendly. The restrooms inside were also stocked and clean. I would definitely come here again and recommend this nail salon!

He did an amazing job and it was probably the fastest dip manicure I've ever had. The second visit I also had embarrassingly trashed nails because of poor planning on my part with timing before family pictures. I really don't like how my nails came out. At the end, he charged me for a full manicure on top of the gel fill-in, acrylic tip, and cat eye. My total was $75 when I only came in for a gel fill in & I understand the cat eye is more. I didn't ask for a manicure and he definitely didn't ask me if I would like one for an additional charge. I'm not going back to this salon, as I rather spend that much money for an owner/manager who values his customer and doesn't seem to have an attitude at every single remark. Also, I don't appreciate shady businesses adding services and charging you at the end because obviously I'll pay for it being done but I didn't ask for it so how is that fair?

I've been coming to star nails for over a year now, and honestly, I never once have left unlleased or unsatisfied with the work they do! I've gotten pedis here before and they are so relaxing! I've had acrylics done, no chip, acrylic removals, etc! Even when it is really busy they try to accommodate your appointment times as best as they can and never do you ever see anyone of the techs unhappy. They are all super nice and always try to make conversation with you. Will continue to be a loyal customer! read more

Star Nails is a great nail salon. The girls are sweet, and very talented! The pedicures are excellent and last a long time. My ingrown nails are always dealt with and my feet expertly exfoliated. I get my acrylic fingernails done here twice a month, and have never had a single problem. The utmost attention is paid to cleanliness and hygiene. They are most definitely the best salon in the area, and I highly recommend them. (My husband would also recommend the pedicures!) read more
