As a woman who owns a local business, I cherish referrals. I was very happy to attempt to patronize Star Collision Center after receiving what I believed to be a credible referral from my insurance agent. Upon arrival at the facility, I noticed an older man standing outside, smoking a cigarette. I believed him to be a customer because he did not greet me or even acknowledge me. I went inside the office and there wasn't a single soul to be found. Assuming that the person in charge might be busy elsewhere, I sat down in the waiting area. After a few moments, the gentleman who had been standing outside came inside and asked me if he could help me; but he actually acted irritated that I was there. I told him that I wanted an estimate and in a very condescending voice, he informed me that estimates were "by appointment only." He never smiled at me once. I left feeling chastised and almost stupid. As the day wore on, I stopped feeling embarrassed and became angry instead. Here, I walk into an office that looked like a ghost town...there isn't a soul to be found anywhere in the building. This gentleman has time to smoke a cigarette, but not to write an estimate? My time is as valuable as his. I took time away from my office to deal with a uncomfortable situation. The accident that damaged my car was not my fault to begin with, and this gentleman (I hesitate to use the word "gentleman") make an already emotional situation SO MUCH WORSE! I contacted my State Farm agent and informed him about my experience. I will also make sure to tell everyone who crosses my path to avoid taking their damaged vehicle to a relatively new shop in our community who clearly does not understand the value of customer service. read more
