They immediately went into action to see what happened. Although they couldn't fix my car they did everything possible to make our day better. They called the dealership and found out there were some recalls and gave us info on how and where to tow. They welcomed us into their lobby and offered us free drinks for us and our dogs while we waited which by the way was the fanciest auto shop I've ever been in. Since we are 11 hours away from home we had to get a hotel room around the corner. I had asked if they had a cart or something to help us transport all our belongings so we didn't have to go back and forth carrying our stuff from our car to the hotel. A gentleman by the name of Michael offered to help transport our stuff in his car and told us about the town. The customer service was exceptional and if I lived here they would be my number one go to place for all my car needs. Highly recommended this place and thank you Josh and Michael!

I always check with Ashland Automotive 1st, but for the last few years they are consistently The Most Expensive; even more expensive than the Dealership for the same services. I didn't think that was even possible. It's worth making a call or two for anything other than an oil change, which is also cheaper at the dealership but not as convenient.

Based on my interaction with Star Body Works, I question their ability to repair Teslas at an…read moreaffordable cost. I dinged my rear door a few weeks ago - nothing major, but body work can be expensive. Tesla in the Bay Area gave me an estimate for $4,200. I thought surely the job would be cheaper in Southern Oregon since body shops don't have a captive market like Tesla, and Southern Oregon labor rates should be dramatically lower than the bay area. I guess I was wrong since Star's estimate was 50% more expensive than Tesla San Jose. Why? Star's estimate included significantly more labor hours, including for portions of the car nowhere near the site of the damage. That's a head scratcher. In addition, I suppose it's possible Tesla has access to technologies not available to Star, but this is body work on a rear door we're talking about - nothing requiring exotic technologies. Anyway, lesson learned. I'll take my Tesla down to the bay area for the work with the satisfaction that the work is being done by the manufacturer and I'll save over $2K in the process. Oh, one more thing. Star Body Works posts in public view their labor rates. Bonus points for transparency. That said, they have two sets of published rates - one set of rates for normal cars and one set for "Luxury & EV cars" which are about 35% more expensive than the non-luxury cars. Why? If these cars are more complex Star should simply use more labor hours than the simpler cars. Why charge a substantially higher labor rate for paint, body, mechanical, etc.? This makes no sense. These guys might be great. I'll never know. But if you own a Tesla (or perhaps a "luxury vehicle") you might want to look around for a quality job at competitive rates.

I wound up having to pull off at the second runaway truck ramp -- a very dangerous place to be, but unavoidable. After more than an hour of wrangling with my roadside assistance service, which was trying to wriggle out of its commitment to provide the services I pay a good deal for (beware, RVers -- Good Sam Roadside Assistance was ANYTHING but a good Samaritan in this case!), I got them to send a tow truck to take my travel trailer and truck down off that scary mountain. Good Sam told the tow truck operator, once he was there and had my vehicles hooked up, that they would not honor my claim and pay them. To his credit, Christian called Travis, his supervisor, to explain what was going on. Travis did the right thing, saying, "Get them off that dangerous spot, and we'll deal with their service later." I am hoping he was able to recoup his costs from Good Sam, because Blue Line is a great, very capable tow service with good human beings who did the decent thing. I will never forget my sense of relief coming down off that steep grade. Thank you, guys, for being the anti-jerks and renewing my faith in human nature!

Repair cost $472 and charged me the full diagnostic price(no folding it in or discount). Final cost $627. That's wild. Before going in, I thought: this might be my new go to mechanic and I wanted to keep business local. My window is fixed- so thank you. But, will not be going back.
