Today's visit to the Studio City Staples was excellent from start to finish. We came in for my mother‑in‑law's TSA PreCheck appointment, and the whole process was smooth and stress‑free. Our appointment was already in the system, they recognized us right when we arrived, and we were taken in right away. The gentleman handling the TSA PreCheck was outstanding. My mother‑in‑law has circulatory issues that make fingerprinting tricky, but he knew exactly what to do. He used lotion, had her warm and rub her hands, and tried different techniques until her prints showed up clearly. He was patient, kind, and clearly experienced. It made a big difference. While we were there, they also had a great sale going on. I was able to pick up crayons, markers, and other Crayola products at a super low price. Michael at the counter helped me out and even added a 20 percent discount, which was a nice surprise. Overall, fast service, friendly people, and a genuinely helpful team. This Staples location is completely negligent and should not be trusted as a UPS Access Point under any circumstances. I received an email from UPS stating that my package had been picked up. Within ONE HOUR of receiving that email, I immediately called this Staples location. I spoke to Peter, who identified himself as the assistant manager. He told me it was a glitch in the system and confirmed that BOTH of my packages were physically still at the store. I very clearly told him that I would be there the next morning (today) with government-issued ID to pick them up. He confirmed this. I repeated it multiple times. Despite that conversation, my packages were STILL released that same night to a random man. I never authorized anyone else to pick up my packages. I never listed an alternate pickup person with UPS. I had TWO separate packages with TWO separate tracking numbers. UPS emails literally say "PLEASE BRING ID." Yet somehow Staples released BOTH of my packages to someone who was not me, not authorized, and not verified. When I came in this morning exactly as I told Peter I would, he told me a gentleman picked them up last night. That makes absolutely no sense. Why would someone pick them up last night AFTER I spoke to you directly and told you I was coming today with ID? No one could answer that. I was then told that Jack was the employee who released my packages. Jack released TWO packages with TWO different tracking numbers to a person I never authorized. That alone is a massive failure of procedure. Releasing one package without ID is bad enough. Releasing two separate packages without authorization is reckless. It gets worse. One male employee was rude, dismissive, unprofessional, and gave me attitude while I was trying to understand how my packages were stolen. Peter had to tell him to stop getting involved. Peter then said, "I assumed it was your boyfriend." That is NOT company policy. You do not get to assume anything. Authorization is not based on assumptions. If I never authorized someone on UPS, you do not release my packages to them. Period. I then spoke to Claudia Ayala, the manager on site, who was completely nonchalant, defensive, and uninterested in resolving the issue. She backed up her staff and said there was nothing they could do. She initially REFUSED to give me the names of who was working the night before until I told her I was filing a police report and escalating this to Staples corporate and UPS. Only then did she cooperate. I even pulled up the UPS website in front of her, which clearly outlines FOUR pickup options. Every single option requires government-issued ID and or authorized pickup status. NONE of those procedures were followed here. There was no urgency. No accountability. No validation. No professionalism. These were valuable packages, including company property. This was THEIR error and they treated it like an inconvenience. The bottom line: if you receive an email stating that your package has been dropped off at this location, PICK IT UP IMMEDIATELY. Do not wait. Do not trust them to hold it. They do not know how to follow company policy. This is negligent. This is careless. This is irresponsible. This is unprofessional. This is unacceptable. I have filed a UPS claim, I am filing a police report, and have escalated this to Staples corporate. Do not use this location for UPS pickup unless you are prepared for your packages to be handed to a stranger. read more

For the past 2 months I have been to the store and George helped me with my purchase. I needed 3 magnifying glasses for reading small print and they only had one in the store. George helped me by placing an online order for the other 2 that I needed and gave me an exact date of delivery. The 2 magnifying glasses arrived in my mailbox a day before the estimated date of arrival. The 2nd time that I went in to the store was I believe on Wednesday and George was at the register, I needed a book cover and he said they didn't have what I was looking for, but brought one of those long cut, glue type of a adhesive sheet book cover that I didn't want to buy. Don't like the extra work, cutting, gluing, etc...he also informed me to come back in couple of months during the back to school and they should have some. I said no thank you, because I needed a book cover right away to start reading this new book that I bought. Don't want my book to get dirty. George was very kind, patient, HELPFUL, had a good demeanor, professional and knowledgeable. I have been there few times in the past and needed to print some stuff. Even the employees in the back are very helpful and professional in every way. This store truly has EVERYTHING that one needs for home, office, car, etc....you get the point. I have been shopping at this Staples location for 15 + years. Easy to spot off Ventura Blvd, big parking lot and decent sized store. I had various experiences here, but never terrible, the store is mostly well stocked and get deals from time to time. Their reward program isn't the best! But during the pandemic I did buy office supplies here, from paper, ink, labels, to a scanner for work recently. I also shopped on line, free shipping, tracking that works, fast, no issues. I prefer to keep other stores in business than order only online from the huge A. We need options, I like shopping around and Staples in a decent one. Today, i tried to return some printer cartridges and was told that my phone number which would prove that i bought my returns was deleted by the company during the pandemic. I bought everything for my business there but did not have my receipt. The manager gave me a phone number to call and told me that my return was rejected because i made too many returns. I have made zero returns. The phone number she gave is only available mon- fri so no luck. I was purchasing items and she called my cashier while i was checking out which made me very uncomfortable to make sure i wasn't doing what? This place sucks. Their website says they open at 7am, so does the UPS website. They don't. Sign on the door says the open at 8am, with the first hour Monday and Friday reserved for seniors. (I am one). I stood at the glass door for 20 minutes, then at 8am they opened the doors to let everyone in. At the UPS desk, they would not take my package because the label, printed from the UPS site did not have a bar code, I would have to go to a separate "Full" UPS location. When i asked how i could get ink for my printer i was advised to go online and order it. I need ink now but i have to wait 4 days to get my delivery. Sometimes I feel that writing reviews for big "box stores" is an exercise in futility. Mine usually start with something like, "Have you been to Staples? It's staples. They're all the same." The height of comedy. But then, I always realize that there's something about each location that differentiates them from the others. It could be the parking lot, the store size, whether or not that particular location always seems to be out if stock. So, what makes THIS staples different? I'm glad you asked. The good: - this location has it's own parking lot. It didn't share with anyone else. There is always ample parking. And the lot is on the other side if the building from ventura, so it's not terribly busy and you don't have to worry about people screaming by. - decent size. This isn't the biggest staples I've ever been to. But I would call it "mid-sized". It's bigger than some others that feel more like a glorified "office supply" section at a CVS. This location is even large enough they managed to stuff a furniture section into the back. - It's always clean. The site always looks nice, and organized. There's never anything strewn about or out of place. The not-so-good: - it has a confusing layout. I think this is partially a by-product of the size (remember how it isn't the largest?) But things don't ever seem to be where you would think they would be. They also split things up that you might think would be together. You just may end up having to ask someone where the file folders are because they aren't with the rest of the organizational things. - Limited stock. They always seem to be sold out of things. Or they have a limited selection. The ARC notebook system is Staples's brand of customizable binder/planner and this location has a very limited selection. They also are always sold out of the specific pens that I like. - No one seems to work here. I have been oit on the floor of this place and looked for someone to help me for TOO LONG. There's usually someone behind the register (usually) but there have been times when I can't find anyone with an earpiece. So there you have it. It's not the best Staples in the world, but it's better than some (cough, the one in Van Nuys, cough). So check it out. read more

What's the point of going to the store when they don't bother to stock the most common printer cartridges? I have an Epson printer with four separate print cartridges, Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow. That makes buying ink less expensive--you only buy what you need... except, if you go to Staples which can't be bothered (or perhaps it's just a ploy to get you to spend more) to stock them separately. In a huge store with thousands of items, there's absolutely no excuse for this. I needed magenta ink. That's all. But no, I had to buy an entire four pack. AND IT COST $3 MORE THAN BUYING FROM AMAZON (which would have had free shipping). The nice man at the front told me, yes, they weren't stocking all the separate inks anymore and I could get them online. Then why bother to visit the store? I say don't bother. read more

Emoyees working the print center were not knowledgeable, or helpful. They made myself, and other customers, use broken printers, because they did not want to take our items to the back and print themselves. **Edit: I drove up the street to another, smaller print shop and they got my job done in less time than it took me to edit this post. They were patient helpful and handled my rush print order with care and talked me through the steps and what I needed to do to help my production get what they wanted. Great Customer Service Staples as a chain, meh- they're ok- they have most of what I need. The thing I like is that when I come in, all angry and bent out of shape about the latest irritation regarding my Epson printer, the staff calmly figure out what the problem is, and fix it. The staff are really good, honest, and do and excellent job of 'talking me off the edge.' Or, more literally, throwing my Epson printer dramatically on a cement floor in a fit of rage.
