Disappointing Experience at Staples Springfield, VA I went to this Staples to purchase printer cartridges and possibly a new paper shredder, but my experience was very disappointing. While I was in the shredder section trying to decide which one to get, a Staples employee - who appeared to be a supervisor - walked right past me without offering any assistance. She then went over to a counter with no customers while there was only one register open and several customers waiting. When I asked if I could check out at her counter, she said "no" in an unfriendly tone. Later, she opened a register -- but only for the next customer in line, not for me. When I finally did check out, the young man at the register was also not very friendly. Overall, I felt ignored and unappreciated as a customer. I ended up paying $100 for two XL printer cartridges and left feeling frustrated. I will only go back to this location as a last resort and will certainly avoid making any major purchases here. I will also look for more affordable options for cartridges elsewhere. read more

I went to the Springfield Staples to purchase two ink cartridges for my printer. I looked in the printer cartridge section but could not find the 61XL cartridges package one (1) black ink and the other one (1) color ink - which I have purchased at this store before a couple of years ago. Since I could not locate the cartridges I went to the printing section of the store where there were two Staple employees - I stood for a couple of minutes before one of the employees asked me what I wanted. I told her and she said that her colleague working with her could help me - I stood there for approximately 10 minutes when I realized no one was going to help me. I went to the one cashier who was in the store and requested help. She acknowledged that I was waiting a long time and she used a portable communication device to ask for assistance. A women came out from a closed area of the store and asked what I wanted. I explained what I needed, she walked away toward the printer cartridge section and looked around in the same way I did when I entered the store. She found 1 black cartridge and 1 color cartridge and handed them to me - this is what you want. I explained I preferred to have a single package with the two cartridges. She said this is all we have, she then walked to a door in the front of the store, I just stood in the store and then she came out from that area and said that's all me have. I went to the cashier who was the same women whom I requested help to find the cartridges and checked out. She said she was sorry, because she knew how long I was waiting for help. The cost of the two cartridges was just under $160.00. I was surprised at the cost but purchased the two cartridges. I told the cashier that I thought it was in her best interest to look for another position because I felt her co-workers were not customer focused or a good example for her. I thanked her for her understanding. I then went home. The entire drive back home I kept thinking about my experience and by the time I got home I realized how frustrated I was from this experience. I explained to my partner what happened, he looked on Amazon and found the same two cartridges I purchased for $50.00 plus dollars cheeper and would be delivered the next day. I returned to the Staples store and returned the two cartridges I had just purchased. I shared with the same cashier employee, when I checked out, that my experience with the employees was terrible and I found that I could save over $50.00 going through Amazon. The cashier offered me the same price that Amazon posted. She tried to provide customer recovery. I thanked her for her offer; however, I shared my experience was so bad, I could not purchase anything from this store. The cashier had to have a manager approve the return because the purchase was over $100.00. Both she and I saw the manager from where we were standing. She used her communication devise asking him for assistance - he was in a conversation with a Staple employee who worked in the printing section who never responded to me when I had originally entered the store. She requested his assistance several times with no response. She ended up calling for another manager who did respond to her and he approved the returned purchases. I did tell him briefly that my experience as a customer in this Staples was unsatisfactory with the exception of the cashier whom I felt fully understood my dissatisfaction and frustration. read more

No one is ever at the register when they open. And their male associate is very rude. Staff don't know the products in the store. I was looking for something explained what it was showed them what it was and they still brought me to something else. The Amazon system seems to be down in the comment is too bad. We sent in some books to get bound and Staples sent them away to another site to get bound even though they've done it on premises before. Supposedly they got lost via UPS. Very poor accountability. You bring in books to get bound and now you have no books. WHAT KIND OF SERVICE IS THAT??? If you want book bound here, be prepared to accept it to go missing and make sure its not worth more than $25. read more

This store is very interesting as the service ranges from god damn awful to extremely well. They had this very rude gentleman who spoke with a lisp who was extremely condescending and rude at the cashier station before. Thankfully I have not seen that jerk lately. read more

I went to this Staples to get a screen protector for my new iPhone. I went to the Tech Center and was helped by a guy named Naj. Naj showed me the options and explained the different benefits of the different options. I wanted to think it over, so he told me to call him when I had decided. That was so nice! I called him and thought I had decided, but then I had second thoughts. He walked me back over for a second time and made another recommendation. I went back to his desk ... but of course hadn't listened to him and had picked up a protector for a smaller model phone. So Naj walked to the protectors for the third time to get the right one for me. He then asked me if I wanted him to install it for me. I did. He gathered the supplies to do it just right--hand sanitizer, screen cleaner, a soft cloth, the whole nine. The first time he tried, a big fat dust spore fell under the protector and could not be rubbed out. So he picked up a second screen protector set (at no charge to me) and installed it again, apologizing. By this time, I actually felt guilty for picking out a $20 product and getting retail $50 worth of product and like $7 of labor. But Naj was very gracious. This is why retail still exists! read more

I had to go to the Staples Print and Copy because my printer malfunctioned and I needed to print labels, like regular Avery labels, for food products my mother sells. I tried the self print but you can't just throw labels in there and expect them to align properly. After the guy working there tried and misprinted 2 sheets, he decided to try a different printer. Mind you, these Avery labels aren't cheap. When he printed them behind the counter, they were perfect. Unfortunately, I had to do a couple of sets of them, and as I told the guy the next set are ready he said don't bug him until everything was done because he is busy. I thought ok rude but I understand you're busy and seemingly short staffed. Then, the next day, I dropped some off to be printed and said I needed it by the following day at noon. It was only around 10 sheets of labels. Of course, they weren't ready until 6 pm, but they were also misaligned. And the same guy from the day before told me I must have given him labels with print already on them. So now you're insulting me by calling me an idiot and a liar. He was right there when I handed him BLANK labels the day before. I couldn't argue with such stupidity so I said never mind, let me pay for absolutely nothing since i have to throw them away and never step foot in there again. On top of all of this, the guy has got to learn to ENUNCIATE his words and stop mumbling with a mask on. I had no clue what he was saying half the time. Long story short GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I rarely visit because most items are cheaper on Amazon or some other retailer. However, for urgent items and school supplies, it's not a bad choice if you go during same season. They have a wide variety of planners and calendars but just be prepared for expensive prices. Luckily they price match pretty well, so you may be able to get away with some deals like I did. The store is almost empty and store associates have not a clue about most items. Yet, there was only one cash register open and they forced customers to wait in line for 20 min. Ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend buying any technological products in store as they're expensive and unreliable. The print services are cheap and friendly but not worth the trip to store. The truth is, this store is slowly dying because they offer nothing proprietary and I wouldn't be surprised if it were to closed down. read more

I rate this location 4 stars. One stop shop to pick up school supplies and any other office things we need. We like to go in, gather the things we need and check out. Our receipts are usually as long as the grocery list, sometimes longer . Thank goodness school supplies are like once a year and throughout the year, may grab few things here and there. This location is always kept clean and the supplies are neatly arranged on the shelves. I stopped in here on 9-26-2020 for a few office supplies for my home office. The store was clean. Everything was clearly marked and easy to find. The staff was helpful. If they saw you looking lost, they offered to help you find whatever you were looking for. The prices were reasonable. Good selection of office supplies. I also love the Staples Rewards Program. I came into another copy and print center and dropped off a bound presentation to have one copy made that was at 10 AM at 5:45. I came in and it had not even been started. The person that I dropped it off with did not handed over to his shift relief, and it sat for seven hours untouched, thankfully another employee came over and immediately addressed the issue but as I was standing there, I watched other customers show up to pick up print jobs that were supposed to be ready days ago and even got emails from the store, telling them it was ready only to be told that they're working up and started management needs to act immediately and focus on getting this print center back up to whatever standard they have here read more

Same day stamps? Not exactly. I ordered a self-inking stamp pad around noon on a Saturday. I didn't learn that it was out of stock until after 6pm that night. Would have been nice to have had that news before waiting around all day for it. When I called at 3:30 to find out the status of this elusive product they say will be done in two hours, the guy sounded like I was bothering him. He hadn't gotten to it. One of my Yelp-peeves is when people started their reviews with something along the line of "I have been here many times, but this time it is so bad." And those are not follow-up reviews either. So for this review of Staples, I am going to go in the opposite direction. I have been to this store many times. All those times were your average 3-star experience. Find what I needed, paid and leave. Other than the interaction with the cashiers, I didn't really get help from anyone. Today I was purchasing a big box of paper (those with 10 reams in a box). As I was trying to put that big box of paper in my cart, an associate, Isaac, stopped by and offered his help. I'm really disappointed with this location. I'm in a class and need to print my manual. Other classmates went to various Staples in the area and were able to have their 8.5 x 5.5 manual printed double sided and hole punched. Not only did the gentleman behind the counter tell me they don't print they size, even if they printed it on 8.5 x 11 and cut it to my size, that'd cost a lot of money and I' have to go somewhere else to have it drilled since they can't hole punch that size. I can't believe this Staples can't provide standard printing and home punching service. Besides not knowing his product, the gentleman was quite rude. Kudos!!!! Incredible copying support after death in family, for photos for memorial across the country. Mr Hanad Yusuf, Print and Marketing Supervisor, scheduled work promptly and compassionately, and Ms Reylyn Sacristia, Print and Marketing Associate, applied her skills to ensure job timely and properly done. I cannot thank them enough! Other customers meanwhile, in a steady stream lined up and picked up posters and a plethora of other jobs, but these two professionals did not miss a beat. Honestly, more staff would be useful, to give these folks a break! Mr Hanad stayed late to ensure our needs met during a quite difficult time. Bless them and Staples, where I always find supplies I need, so worth a drive from my town. There is ample parking. The store is very clean and well organized. I was very impressed by the services they offer in regards to printing. They have a self service copy and print center with computer workstations, copy and fax machines, and a large counter where you can compile and assemble your prints. It took me 20 minutes to find somebody to put it on the scale and tell me what I owed. This was at 11:00 AM and there was only a line at the copy area no line elsewhere plus the manager's area had two employees standing there. This has been my consistent experience over the past year. Came in here yesterday to print and cut some paper for wedding invitations. Everyone who was working were incredibly professional and the convenience of being able to take care of everything at one place was great. There was plenty of parking and plenty of paper to choose from for the invitations. After roaming the computer section for 5 minutes with no offer of help, I sought our a sales associate. After being told the model I wanted was out of stock, the guy just stared at me, until I said, "okay, thanks." No offer to look for a different model. No offer to call another store. Nothing. After having a mortifying experience with the nearest Staples, I decided to consult with this one in Springfield for a better luck. Initially, I had very high expectations of their services because I had put in an order for "instant pickup" for my company, and they called me within 20 minutes later to tell me my order was all ready for pickup. (The previous Staples didn't have the same order ready after two days so it was definitely a pleasant surprise). I rushed over and was able to successfully pickup my order. However, their copy&print center is extremely slow due to what seemed to me as under-staffing. It took me 2 hours of wait to process my 120 page copy request. read more

I went in to buy some printer ink, the guy couldn't be bothered to show me the HP printers after I told him that I didn't remember the model number but would recognize it. I finally found it and then that same guy wanted me to buy a new printer despite the fact I had just told him the ink was for my NEW printer. The cartridge printed 40 pages and then ran out of ink. I got a message from HP saying my ink was not authentic so it wasn't even genuine. read more

They said 30 minutes I gave them one hour and left . I went shopping after more than hour the rep said: sorry we have only iPhone 6 screen so we need more time I said okay ... More than 1 week my phone didn't fix it even I'm using temporary my girlfriend phone . They sent my phone to Texas to fix the screen .
