I've lived just a few blocks from this Staples for over six years, and I usually only come here out of emergency or convenience--maybe five times a year. Unfortunately, it's consistently underwhelming. First, be aware that in-store prices are frequently higher than what you'll find on Staples.com. It's frustrating, but sadly not surprising--Target down the street does the same thing. Maybe it's inflation, maybe it's the neighborhood, but still, it feels like you're paying a premium just for walking in. Customer service is hit or miss. About half the time it's fine or even good. The other half? Not so much. High employee turnover means I often get helped by someone new who simply doesn't have the answers. What pushed me to finally write this review was my recent experience trying to get TSA PreCheck. Due to my unpredictable work schedule, I couldn't book an appointment in advance. The TSA website said this Staples location accepts walk-ins (with appointments having priority). But when I showed up, I was told the TSA agent was on break. Then I was told walk-ins weren't accepted at all. No one was waiting, and the process takes less than five minutes, so I was understandably annoyed. I asked if the 24th Street SSi location accepted walk-ins, and the Staples employee just said, "No idea. But the airport does." Not helpful. I left Staples frustrated, drove four minutes to SSi on 24th St, and--surprise--they do take walk-ins. I was seen right after one other person. As I was leaving, another walk-in arrived. The receptionist there even told me that all TSA PreCheck locations are supposed to accept walk-ins. Staples: I want to like you, but the inconsistency and lack of helpfulness keep proving me wrong. read more

The employees don't understand time zones. I had a pre check appointment at this location and saw how disorganized the wait was. That was the trait red flag. The employee did not communicate with anyone. I checked in and waited half hour before I said something. The woman told me that my appointment is an hour later than what I said. I pulled up my email showing the time of my appointment. I made my appointment while I was traveling so it showed it in mountain standard time, an hour ahead of Phoenix. So if my appointment is at 12:50 MST, and I show up at 11:50, that makes me on time. I left, there's no arguing with people who don't understand simple things. I had been having trouble with a Brother Printer purchased from Staples some Months ago and have had some people over here to try to figure it out for me. I had to call Staples and talk to Bradley and told him of my problem and he said that they don't have a repair shop instore but if I wanted to bring it down he could take a look at it. I did. I had to park a distance from and being over 80yrs and in the heat of the day, I couldn't carry it into the store. A fine young man came out and took it in for me and Bradley ran it thru it's paces and it works fine now. I don't know what magic he used but it is work Now. Thank You Very Much, Bradley! I went to this Staples Print and Copy as I have many times in the past. I needed a color copy on heavy 100# cardstock that I provided. When I arrived, the person at the desk said, "Do you need something?". I told her what I needed and she took my USB drive and pulled up the document. She then proceeded to have difficulty with printing the document. I have had these printed several times before at this location, so I knew that they need to feed the cardstock from the manual tray and also adjust the settings on the copier to accept cardstock. The employee was unable to get the paper to print without bending it. I had to keep saying that she needed to adjust the settings. She must have been having a bad day as she wanted to charge me for the test page. I said no. She kept insisting that it wouldnt work. She also threw away the test page and since it is a legal document, I said that I needed the page back. She said she was going to shred it but didnt remove it from the trash and put it in their secure shred. I told her I didnt trust her to shred it and asked for it back. She called over another employee but he was also unable to get it printed. I asked for my USB back and she took an extra 10 minutes at the computer to remove the USB. A little suspicious, I'd say. I wouldn't doubt that my document is on their computers. I apologied for bothering them and took it to a nearby Copy and Print store and was able to get my copy within 5 minutes. Unfortunately for Staples, even though my company does thousands of dollars worth of business, I don't need an attitude with my print jobs so I will be going elsewhere for my printing and office supply needs. read more

Super professional and helpful. I witnessed a man working at the copy center, treating an elderly woman with such respect and kindness and it was really refreshing to see. He refused to a simply place it on my watch because it was not a Staples brand product and he could be held liable for simply sticking a simple plastic cover on my phone. Worst experience ever! Over a month ago I ordered stationary for my business. This is the first time I have used Staples for any custom order. After many calls I still don't have it. Apparently at one point it was sent out but I never received it, I live in a guard gated neighborhood where security receives all mail and packages. So was it really sent out? The final straw was the last phone call I made three days ago. The customer service representative said he couldn't give me much information because the "production" department was already closed at the time of my call (Eastern). He said he would follow up when they opened the next day and get back to me. He even confirmed my phone number and email address. I still have not heard back from him. Very poor handling of the situation. I will never set foot in a Staples again and will take my business elsewhere. A week has gone by, still not a word. Simply disputed the charge with my credit card which has already been resolved in my favor. Staples sucks! Worst customer service in the industry! I had an appointment to get my TSA precheck. After waiting almost an hour I was told that I was skipped in the queue. Nina and Melanie the two TSA agents both were very rude and had no respect for my time. After speaking with TJ (the staple employee) he made it seem as if it were my fault, even though the pager I was given never rang. Whoever was working at the printing center was rude for no reason today. I've only written like 3 reviews in my life but this just irked me cause I really didn't deserve it. He was just snippy at me after asking dumb questions since this was the first time using this service, I know he's heard before and was annoyed. I was sad at the price as it was more than I expected. I wasn't trying to reduce it or get a refund, just something along the lines of aww man I didn't know it was this much, and he was snippy at me as I'm sure he had a retort that he tells anyone else who is sad that they needed to pay more than they expected. I was just saying I was sad, again, not trying to get a refund or anything. Really no big deal, I just feel like he took out his frustration of dealing with other annoying customers, out on me, an introvert who has always just eaten a meal given to me even though the order was wrong because I don't want to make a big deal. Very unhappy with the customer service today. Came in to print out some business cards. Formatted the business cards on the computer, completed the business card; the computer froze and we lost the format. The rep Gissel suggested to start over on another computer. Had to do another format on another computer, printed out to see if it was good which the picture needed to be bigger. Now she mentioned we cannot go back in to expand the picture. I was willing to take the original print out with a discount price. But the manager John refused to give me one and basically stated it was my fault for stating 'it looks good' before print out. The rep did not warned me once you print it out you will not be able to edit it. Very unprofessional will never come back here to do a print job again. Oh and the rep mentioned it will be $8.99 which came out doubled. read more

Worst store manager ever. Still waiting three hours later for TSA services for my TWIC application for work. Granted, I didn't have an appointment, and have been waiting patiently. Appointments keep trickling in and I'm bumped to the back of list continually. There is only one kiosk and an elder woman is operating the kiosk and is continually making mistakes and fumbling through the process. folks with appointments are now waiting over an hour after their scheduled appointments and the manager refuses to give this elderly woman relief to allow for quicker processing. To add insult to injury, there is no place for this woman to sit and no ergonomic mat to help her aching joints from standing all day with zero compassion or care from her management. OSHA needs called on Staples As it is apparent that they do not care for their staff or folks using their services, especially those who have health concerns such as my cancer, forcing me to stand in line for several hours with no relief or assistance Offered. I went there to have my Santa & Me portrait copied onto photo paper so I can mail them off with my Christmas cards to families/friends ;) A congenial gentleman at the counter offered to make copies for me for free. What a nice surprise. Not sure if it's really because of the holiday spirit because I requested 15 copies made so it's not few. Also, this same guy was there on my past visit to the store, also to make color copies. I didn't get his name but I was there yesterday during the evening. When he saw my Santa photo, he asked if it was at Westgate and I said "no, at Scottsdale (Quarter)". This review is for Easytech that's inside Staples. Dropped off my laptop to be diagnosed since it I was getting blue screen and error message related to the operating system. Informed technician that was getting OS message and tested computer. Came back after three alleged tests that said it was the DEFINITELY the motherboard. You know, in that know it all kinda way... Asked 2nd in house technician to test it again and once again came back and said it was motherboard. Offered to send it off to be refurbished for $369.99 and told me that they would do everything that was needed. Called me back 2nd day to let me know that they couldn't refub. DEll XPS laptops with video cards and to get someone to replace the MB. You'd thing that's something they would know. Ordered MB and had it installed by another technician and it turned out to be the operating system. Emailed technician regarding the inaccurate diagnosis and never received a reply. Morons. Certainly wouldn't assume just because they are working on computers that they know what they are talking about. Got me. read more

I went shopping at Staples today for my store business supplies. I was appalled by the service I received from the associates in the front including the manager, Katie. I had made purchases and awaited assistance from the "manager" in regards to a defected item. While I waited an associate approached me. I told her I was awaiting a managers assistance. I then told her the item I wanted to purchase was defected. Instead of checking another store for the item. She told me 10% off. Then I told her I would wait for the manager. She SLAMMED the item on the counter and said the manager will tell me the same. At this point I could not believe the hostility towards a customer. I waited for the manager, Katie. I told Katie about my experience with the associate. Katie then told me okay, without apologizing for the experience I just encountered. I then proceeded to locate a corporate number. Katie then approached me with the stores number. I cannot tolerate this service. The employees here definitely do not want to be there. They should have the proper training. I could not believe that the manager's actions were just like the associate. Extremely rude. I refuse to shop at this Staples for my business supplies. I may get better service at a competitors store. I really just want upper management to know the things that are occurring in this location. Be careful if you choose to use the tech customer service at this location. The tech team ran a free diagnostics and said my computer had a virus and that "might" be the reason the WiFi was not working on my computer. They wanted to charge me $189 and hold the computer for 4 days to fix the issue. I was on vacation and decided to wait. I called my virus software company and they were very helpful. It turns out my Window updates were incomplete and causing the WiFi issue I was having. I initiated the windows update and the WiFi problem resolved itself for free. Its very disappointing that this Staples wanted to charge me for a service I did not need. read more

Unfortunately the only complaint I have all has to do with the print center. Yesterday, I went to print a double sided word document. There was one person working behind the counter and no other customers. It took him five minutes before greeting or acknowledging me (not the first time this has happened). Then he told me he could print my document in 15-20 minutes (I've had to wait at least 15 min every time I've been in). I decided to use the self print station. I printed the document but the issue was that it printed double sided but one page would be upside down. I asked the man working if he could help me. He tried but did not know how to fix the problem. At that point I had printed two pages of paper. It cost me $6.00. My money was refunded but I left without being able to get anything printed properly. To help you compare: I've walked into office max and printed 20 pages of paper in a matter of minutes with the total cost being no more than $4.00. read more

Do not order items from Staples.com. This is really a review for the online service, but since I can't review them and this is the closest Staples store to me, this is where I am leaving the review. I ordered a laptop during a Black Friday special and received a call from a Staples representative on Monday to confirm the order. She also told me the order would be ready to pick up at the store Thursday. On Tuesday I received an email saying my order was cancelled because they were out of stock. Now the computer cost $300 more than it was on Black Friday. The verbatim response I received from Staples was, "sorry for the inconvenience." They would not back order the item or provide any compensation for the hundreds of dollars more I will pay for a computer now that all the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals are gone. read more

When I had been to this store a few weeks back, there was a woman who was not very friendly, yet I prayed for someone else to be there - and there was Teal! She is the print and marketing supervisor. She went above and beyond to get my order of copies made and truly cared that I was running late. The copier I was using wasn't cooperating so she personally took over getting my order to me quickly!
