While in Melbourne visiting friends, we decided to pass the time making tie dye shirts for some of the children in our respective families. While doing some research online on my iPhone, I found out that Staples had a good selection of inks and do-it-yourself products. So we went in and found a variety of choices for our project. Sometimes we don't think of Staples as a Do-it-Yourself place, only an office supply store, but they do have a large section of their store with items that can be used for fun home projects.

Staples employee smoking outside of the entrance, but has zero time to assist.

The only reason this review is getting a one star is because I couldn't leave this review without leaving a star rating. I went to this location only because I was in the area for work and had a time sensitive situation that I was dealing with. When I arrived at the store I noticed an employee standing out front fairly close to the entrance smoking a cigarette. To each their own. If Staples policy allows employees to take smoke breaks out front where customers not only can see, but have to walk through the billow of smoke to enter the store than so be it. As I entered the store I noticed that there wasn't an employee in sight. Please note there was a gentleman standing at checkout waiting for the long lost employees to return from who knows where. I was standing at the printing services counter looking bewildered that there was still not an employee in sight. Just then I saw the woman from outside peak around through the window (cigarette hanging from her lips) inside at me. She proceeded to make her way inside (no hand washing/sanitizing happening) and rudely says to me, "You picking something up?" I explained to her that I wasn't that I needed something faxed from my email to a client and that it was very important and time sensitive. She points over to a corner and says, "Oh handle that yourself." I just stood there. Looking at her as if she had snakes coming from her head instead of hair. It took me a moment to wrap my head around the audacity along with process the level of unprofessional customer service I was encountering. I managed somehow to kindly said to her, "Oh, I apologize, I typically do this at home or at my hometown location. I'm not familiar with how that process works. Is there not a way I can forward the email to you and have you fax the documents?" Not surprisingly and most certainty without breaking character she replies (while once again referring back to the corner of doom), "Nope, its right over there." My fuse it about to blow. I walk over to the "corner of doom" and then realize that I am suppose to be emailing these papers to staples (do at my store too and they take care of absolutely everything from that point) waiting for a passcode, entering passcode into the copy machine, because yes I have to pay to print them and then pay to fax So, this now time sensitivity documentation that needs to be sent out PRONTO is still sitting in my inbox. I am decide that I will go outside to collect myself, search for signal and get in touch with my clients. As I am walking out I am frantically dialing my clients to let them know how much I apologize for the delay but assure them I'm working as diligently as I can and as I look to my left.....THIS IS WHAT I SEE........she was ALREADY back outside smoking AGAIN. I've had enough! This is terrible customer service. Furthermore, the lack of pride in her work or the company she represents is appalling.

    My flyers were done great!

I go to the COPY & PRINT and Alex, Jacob, and Tee have all helped me with my BOOTY RUN/WALK for Colon Cancer Awareness flyers, sign-up sheets sponsor/donor letters and all three have went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied. (Allison helped me for last years race.) Thank you for all your kindness & professionalism in making these awesome posters that mean so much to me!

It had literally been the '90s the last time I used a copy machine and I think Rodrigo sensed my hesitation and immediately began to coach me through it

My woman wrote this and went in on December 17th:…read more "I went to go to the store to get my phone fixed The store manager/owner at the store personally took my case and said that there was something wrong with my battery. I said ok how much would it be? and he told me the price which was $99. I paid him the price and came back the next day to get my phone. During the process of him fixing my phone he cracked my screen. He apologized and said he would fix it for free ( which i understood completely by the way. i know things happen) but he told me I would have to pay an additional $16( which turned out to be around $24 with tax) for the screen replacement but the labor would be free. i said ok and he "fixed" the screen HOWEVER as soon as i left the store I was still having problems with my battery. I called him right away ( about 10-15 minutes later) he told me that it is ok and that there was something wrong with my charging port too( which I thought was strange because why didnt he tell me that when I brought phone in, right?) but he said I could fix that at a later date i said "ok" THEN about a week or so later, My ENTIRE SCREEN goes black and I cannot use my phone, as well as having the battery issues i had from before. I entered the store AGAIN. I was out of town when this happened and as you may know this can be very dangerous traveling/being on vacation without a way to communicate with anyone. I was STILL trying to be understanding so I came into the store after my vacation, and politely asked for a refund because my screen was broken, my battery wasnt working AND for the inconvenience of having me come back and forth to see him and having no telephone. He said and i quote "I did the service for you maam we do not do refunds" I couldn't believe what I was hearing, he may have "done the service" but this "service" left me with a HUGE NEW phone bill to pay as well as so many inconveniences AND STILL LEFT ME WITH THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD BEFORE I WENT IN AND THEN SOME. but yet he was NOT understandable and REFUSED to give me a refund. He said there was a warranty on it and he could fix the screen still and THEN he ADMITTED to giving me a faulty battery instead of the apple battery and thats why my screen went black. I said "ok" I then saw one of his posters for yelp about a review which I am typing up for you to read as we speak, BE WARNED."

Cell phone glass cracked causing it to malfunction and I needed it to access my tickets for an…read moreevent that day. To my surprise, they said they had the glass for that phone in stock and could fix it that day for $250. I had just had the screen replaced a couple of weeks earlier for $150, but considering the circumstances, I agreed to pay the additional $100 premium to get it done that day. Dee took my phone apart right in front of me, (I thought that was cool), but as it turned out, the part they had didn't fit my phone. So I wasn't going to get it fixed that day and had to leave it with them. Since I didn't have a number where I could be reached, they took my email address and said they would be in touch that way. That was a Saturday. When I stopped in early the next week, (having received no email), I was informed that they hadn't gotten the parts in, yet. At that point, I reiterated that I had just had the screen replaced for $100 less than they quoted me and only agreed to their inflated price because they said they could fix it the same day. Dee agreed to reduce the price to $200. Called the next day. Still no part. Toward the end of the week, I stopped in again and was informed that they had ordered the wrong part and it wouldn't be ready until the following week, at which time I demanded my phone back. They refused to give it back to me, saying they had too much invested in the phone, at that point, to return my property to me. That schmuck Dee had this stupid grin on his face as he's telling me this bullshit. Needless to say, I was furious. The next time I went in, the following week, having never received any email communication, someone else was there and he finally had it "fixed." He tried to charge me the original $250 quote, (I had already given them a $120 deposit on the work), as if he wasn't aware of the change we had agreed to. Once I informed him of it, he acquiesced, (like I said, I think he was aware of it the entire time). Once I got it back and left, I realized that the ear speaker no longer worked. Not long after that, it would no longer take a charge. The phone is a 2023 model that was bought at Best Buy in Melbourne in 2024, and never activated until 2025. So the battery hardly had any use on it. I took it back to the place that originally fixed the screen, (certainly would not take it back to iFix and Repair, when they likely caused the issues). They said the ear speaker can easily be damaged when taking it apart, if someone doesn't know what they're doing. I'll update this review, once I get it back, to let you know how much it cost to fix it again. Highly recommend looking elsewhere for repairs!
