I was unhappy with business cards that I had ordered on-line last week. I went to the Burlington, MA store earlier this week to order more. Expecting to have to keep the ones that I had. Which I would not use. I mentioned to Brian and Crystal in your copy/print center that I was not happy with the previous order. What a lousy experience! Went in to pick up an online order (trying to shop local instead of just ordering from Amazon). The bar code didn't load in my email (image didn't load properly from staples.com) and they said they could only give me my order with the barcode. I showed them the email and order number (which is what the barcode is) but they wouldn't accept it. Guy spent five minutes saying he just needed the barcode. I asked if I could cancel my order and he said yes, but that he couldn't do that (and the order on staples.com also didn't provide a cancel option) so I both had paid for my order and couldn't get it, and couldn't get a refund. Tried to show that I was logged in on staples.com and could show the order pickup info there, but of course it just showed the order number again, and not the barcode. Manager came and berated me for not having the barcode (again, staples themselves are responsible for this problem), and eventually let me use my ID to pick up the order with a "we're really not supposed to do this" like he was doing me a favor in light of my causing this problem for them. Next time I'll just order from Amazon and get it cheaper and sent right to my door. read more

Shortly before noon today, I visited the Burlington Store. A very helpful person was restocking shelves, but then I got to the checkout area. One woman was behind the area, working on a computer so perhaps she wasn't a Staples employee. Still, it would be nice if she had said that someone would be with me shortly. She looked very focused, so that was probably the reason. A light was on at just one cash register, so I stood at that one. Nobody else was waiting. Someone saw me there and said she would get someone to help me. Well, someone went to the first register - without a light on - because someone went up to that station. I said, "Excuse me, I was here first." She responded that the line started where the person who had just come up to the area was. So I thought she wanted me to go there to wait. She went to the register I had been at and snapped at me, "Well, do you want to be helped?" or something similar. She rang up my items and the place to put my phone number came up, but she seemed to be anxious to get rid of me that she skipped right over that. I said, "I was going to put in my phone number, but I guess that's alright" She replied "You are suppose to use the app for that, even though the screen for inputting had shown up before she quickly passed it by. There was only that other person in line. I told her it was poor customer service, but I was so angered by her rudeness, I thought you should know. I will stick with the Waltham Staples. I applied for a TSA pre check and selected an appointment at 11:45 at the Burlington Staples. I arrived with my passport and documents in hand and found the TSA bootH. Two people were inside chatting away having a long conversation. I assumed the previous appointment was running late and browsed the travel items while I waited, 10 minutes went by and then another 5. Finally as a man exited, a woman came out and said in an irritated voice, "Are you waiting for TSA Pre check, I close at noon!" I responded yes that I had an 11:45 appointment. The women looked annoyed and said, " Well, I will try but we close at noon and there is nothing I can do about that!" I responded I arrived for my appointment at 11:45. There was no, "Sorry, I didn't see you" or "May I reschedule you?". I presented my documents and she only took my passport. She proceeded to bark instructions at me rushing me thru the questions I barely had time to read. Fortunately I caught when she entered my credit card info incorrectly. She snapped at me least twice "You know, you won't get your $85 back if this doesn't go thru". She finished and gave me a receipt and said I would get an answer in 30 days. And again said my $85 would not be refunded, if I did not receive trusted traveler. I am now sorry I didn't just walk out and go somewhere else. I'm so tired of rude crazy people walking around with a chip on their shoulder trying to provoke arguments. If you are interested in TSA Pre check, go anywhere else. read more

I was one of two customers who walked out because the 2 clerks in the shipping/printing/business area could not be bothered to acknowledge us, never mind help us. Two clerks were on duty - one was actively helping another customer -- but neither could be bothered to acknowledge us. After spending an hour in traffic, I was a walk-in (My scheduled appt in Danvers was canceled as the system was down due to bad weather) and came in at 5:10pm hoping a TSA rep could help me. This Staples should just close up. It's not like anyone even knows how to find it. I saw this building while driving along the Middlesex Turnpike. Not to brag or anything, but I will admit that I have, in general, a good sense of direction, and therefore, was able to predict the entrance would be off of Burlington Mall Road (if you are confused, take Burlington Mall Road, and take the first left for Great Meadow Road, then follow the road for a minute or so and turn left into the lot, very hidden and no signs, but Staples obviously doesn't care). It's small, the building is old, worn down, and incapable of providing the variety and new features of other Staples locations due to the small size. Clearance was barely even a section (my favorite.....), and many departments in the store seemed either understocked or just small. I will say that it was organized, and seemed somewhat clean and well kept; however, there is no point in myself coming back. I was unsuccessfully able to purchase a list of things that all should have been super easy if I was going to Staples. Here, that didn't happen. The store in general is odd from the weird entry way, layout, and even the completely weird parking lot. Everything about this place is just so odd and unexpected. Unfortunately, the Woburn Staples is only marginally better and the Bedford location closed, and on top of that, OfficeMax is nowhere around here. Too bad, in my area Staples and Office Max compete neck and neck and out here, they simply don't care because there is no competition. I love this store for its items. Today was just not a great experience. Terrible service at the copy center. There was a copy machine broken, no sign that it's out of order. Then the service lady had the nerve to shout across the room saying its out of order making us feel stupid. Where's the sigh that it's out of order. No apology, no offer if she can help us make a copy. She should be fired for terrible customer service because she just caused a long time customer to never go back there. I have spent quite a bit of money at this Staples store. I called today to ask them to put a hold on a graphing calculator my daughter needs for school. They refused and made me go through their web site which was inconvenient for me. They REALLY take their customers for granted - I will try hard to direct my service to a stationer that appreciates their customers - which is not Staples. read more

HORRIBLE EXPIERIENCE I tried to get checks ordered from Staples, 1st the clerk told me to go to my bank, he wasnt even aware staples orders/prints checks. I asked to speak to the manager, Sangeeta was the manager, She came down and said " I dont know if we do that or not, THIS IS THE STORE MANAGER!!!! She doesnt even know what Staples does! Then another woman came down and said Staples does order/print checks but she didnt know how to do it and told me to come back the next day and they would try to figure out how to do it by then. I called Staples headquarters the next day, was hung up on, transfered, etc. Finally someone from the presidents office told me they do print/order checks. he gave me the store phone number and the store managet to speak with. THERE IS NO STORE MANAGER BY THAT NAME. More incompetancy, this seems to be a staples employee trait. I called headquarters back and they are researching if they print/order checks. I have spent over one and a half hours on the phone and in store trying to get this done. I now know understand why their profits are down. read more

Location is important in real estate and fortunately not so in office supplies...otherwise this Staples would have gone the way of the dinosaurs years ago. Good selection of office products, so-so for computers and computer supplies, and excellent for paper - I think there must be an entire forest in here. Reprographics department is one of the best at any Staples in the Boston area and it's their real strong point. I'm still trying to figure out why they offer certain candy and food products, for that's not why anyone goes in here. Nor would anyone merely driving by, or browsing, stop by. This Staples is way in the back of a small shopping plaza in Burlington and if one didn't know it was here, they'd totally miss it. Best way to access the store is by heading down Mall Road and then turning into the little shopping plaza after Kohl's. Watch the other drivers in the parking lot and on the access road weaving its way around the stores. Can be nightmarish at times. read more

People there were assholes. An elderly woman was coughing aggressively right in front of two employees who just stared at her. She panicked and grabbed a water from a case of waters to help her. Then one of the employees walked over grabbed the rear of the case and brought it over to her in line and said here's the rest of your waters you need to buy the whole thing, and was extremely rude to her. read more

I am not that great with computers and technology in general. I have to share what exceptional service and help I received from a gentlemen named Jeff. I usually dread when I know I am shopping for certain items. Jeff could not have been more patient and helpful talking me through all my crazy questions. What could have been what I would consider a horribly stressful shopping experience turned out to be one of the most pleasant and painless I have ever had. Thanks Jeff and keep up the great work. I only give them a two because I was happy to buy an ergonomic mouse pad. However, their process and cost of computers and protection should be investigated for transparency and value. As far as I am concerned with my lab top, I see it as no value. I have had it a year and it is slow as hell. I went today and had to convince them that I paid for a tune up. I had to ask them to read the receipt because they were trying to tell me I didn't have the service I paid for. Finally they bring it in and make it go some place for 48 hours. Here is the thing, I paid an arm and a leg for virus protection. Even though Norton is on the computer, they say the only virus protection they have is mcafe. Besides the mcafe fee they charge you an additional fee to have them remove the viruses at the store. So basically they sell me a service that doesn't do its job of removing viruses and then charge you more on top of that to have pay for the service of them removing the viruses. Please do not go to any Staples to get your computer. If they have been dishonest to me, I can only imagine they have been dishonest to others. Your money is valuable and should only be spent on something of value meaning it needs to do its job. Your hard earned money is valuable and you should not fall into a scam such as this. read more

Pretty bad experience in printing. Went in to get 75 black and white copies (pretty basic) but their system was incompatible with a mac's, so I had to convert my pdf. Nothing worked and everything was moving at a snail's pace since their internet barely works. I ended up taking screenshots of my word doc, copying them into a new word doc, and using my personal hotspot to send the new doc to the printer. I only came here for one thing - to use their color printer. To that end, this Staples did the job. For each printed color page it was $1, plus any charges for amount of time actually spent using the computer (something like 30 cents per minute). I was in and out of there pretty quick, so I didn't get a chance to really explore the store. It said ship UPS 7 days a week. However, the woman who works in this store seems to have not right attitude to help the people who wants to ship UPS packages. I was there last Saturday @8:45pm and looking at few packages I had, she did not want to take it. So she said UPS system is down. I said, can you try to check again, she did not want to check. On Sunday, I went there to drop off packages, she did not want to let me borrow dolly. Instead she said just use Staples cart. Then, she said she can only take 5 packages due to not enough storage they have. She said why don't you go to UPS store to drop it off? It seems like she was trying to do any work. In fact, this store is much bigger than other Staples Store in this area but the UPS staff and Store Manager in this store do not want to help. Don't understand why UPS allows this Staples store to have their business. Other Staples stores are relatively smaller but the staff there is very helpful and have no restriction of any kind. They send the staff with dolly outside to help bring packages inside. Here, everything is upside down. I would not give even one star rating for UPS related business. The UPS staff and Store manager kept making their own rules which are not helpful to people. read more

But unfortunately the manager was so rude an unhelpful when our company's check wasn't "working with the computer" I am discouraged from ever ordering there again! I have spent thousands of dollars at Sataples over the last few years most at this store. I bought a printer from them. It stopped working after one month.Store refuses to help me, even to take a quick look at the printer. In short, they sell lousy product and sell you super expensive service plans. If you do not buy the service plan, you are out of luck. So you might as well just by the cheapest product over the internet as go here. Absolutely no service ethic whatsoever. The curious thing is their approach makes no sense from a business perspective. By refusing to give me a break or even look at the product, they have lost a long term relationship that would have been worth $300-500/year. Avoid this store. read more

I like Staples as a brand but the Burlington store is the worst of their stores in the area. Every time I go there, I get frustrated. The personnel is arrogant and not particularly interested in serving the customer. Last time, I bought an office chair and had it assembled by them for $14.
