I don't have a printer at home, which can be sort of ridiculous.
But, I live in a tiny home in Boise's north end and a couple of years ago I went on a Feng Shui mission. With a battle cry of,
"No more clutter dragon!"
I got rid of anything which I deemed neither useful or beautiful. I had approached my printer and in a frenzy of futuristic--this is the digital age, for heavens sake--rationale, I kicked it to the curb (or, rather, donated it to a local charity--but, you get the gist).
As it turns out? A printer *is* actually somewhat useful on occasion.
So, about once every 2-3 months or so, I find myself in need of an actual hard, printed, non-digital version of this or that.
Enter Staples.
They don't have self-serve printers (though they do have self-serve copiers, if that's what you need), but they do have a print center. They will happily print you off whatever you need for a minimal fee (I think roughly 10 cents a page). The copy center is large but never very amply staffed. So, as it turns out, even if there's just one or two others in need of assistance, you're likely going to have to wait a bit. That said, I've never had to wait inordinately long.
The print specialists (not sure if they're called that--but have decided they should be) who help me are always wonderfully friendly and you pay right there so no need to wait in line twice.
I've also had occasion to pick up this or that here over the years and would say, if you do your homework, there are deals to be found. Some things are overpriced, others are reasonable, and others a downright bargain.
One time, I was in the market for a specific laptop model that was carried at many other retailers in town--but Staples had the best deal around (I know! Who knew?!). I also advise checking their ads at back to school time--I've purchased some high quality school supplies at reasonable prices by shopping their sales (and usually without the cart bumping back-to-school craziness that can be found elsewhere).
Overall, for certain things, and, the convenient print center--I'm a fan.
