I went to the Staples in Vacaville yesterday to have a passport photo taken. Unfortunately, I was told they didn't have any USB drives available and that there was no way for me to get a digital copy. The cashier suggested that I take a photo of the printed passport photo and upload that to the passport website, but unfortunately, that didn't work. Today, I stopped by the Staples in Auburn and was greeted by Wesley. I explained what had happened in Vacaville, and he immediately let me know that I had been given incorrect information. Wesley went above and beyond--he took the time to call the Vacaville store, arrange a refund for me, and make sure I received the proper digital passport photo I needed. The level of customer service Wesley provided is rare these days. He was knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely interested in making sure the problem was resolved. I was in there to buy back to school supplies and saw Staples lined index cards. Cost $.85 for 100. Next to it is a pack of five individually wrapped 100 packs of lined index cards Cost $4.99. Let's do the math folks $.85 times 5 =$4.25. Why would I pay you $4.99 if I buy them individually it's only $4.25. I mentioned it to the representative as I was paying for my items and his response was oh well wow... Wow, sorry I don't make the pricing around here. What I was expecting was something more like, let me notify my manager, and we can get that fixed. But I guess you'll get what you pay for with respect to employees as well. I used to love coming here for Amazon returns. The service was quick, easy, and problem free. But now that this has become a popular place to go for Amazon returns the store management has cut back on staff and moved Amazon returns to the front of the store instead of in the shipping department. This means that an employee who is cashiering has to break away from what they're doing to come over and do returns. This often results in lengthy delays. Instead of getting instant service like we had before, I had to wait for almost 10 minutes to return my package today because they were understaffed. This has happened several times and each time is worse. Not the employees fault, but the management. Fix this problem immediately or we will all stop coming to your staples store for Amazon return returns. read more

I would not recommend bringing Amazon returns here. Staples recently changed their system and no longer has a dedicated staff member for Amazon returns. All returns now go through a single cashier, which causes long lines and delays whenever that cashier is occupied. Unfortunately, I saw several people leave without completing their returns because of the wait. Hopefully Staples will reconsider this process, as it makes returning packages much more difficult than before. read more

I've printed different business materials here and the quality has gone down by a lot. First, expect that your printing order will be done the next business day and not the same day even if you place the order early. Second, the print quality is not the same as it used to be. I feel like their ink is run down or watered down. I compared the work that they've done before and there was a substantial difference. It was the same format, the work was already in my history and I just reordered it but the color was way less vibrant. I only have two colors for that job too- so disappointing. A lot of the business cards that I have purchased recently are also faded on one side so I had to throw a lot of them away. I can't check all of them when I pick up so I end up being stuck with the bad print job. I'm looking for alternatives now because I don't think Staples prints will go back to the way it was. I had a disastrous experience with the Staples store in Auburn, Calif. Bought a desk that I would have to assemble myself which typically is no problem but the desk I bought was impossible to assemble. Help was impossible to get. Customer service said that they do not offer help on assembly nor even put together this product. Now I know why. The desk assembly instructions claim that one can screw in tiny bolts through a very desk 'wood-like' type material but it is impossible as the bolts are flat and there is no way they can penetrate through this product especially because instructions say not to use power tools. I called up Staples store and they said to call another number which I did. Nobody answered. I wrote a message and they responded that I would have to contact another company for help. I had already spent a few hours on this and for $100, this was turning out to be a total waste of my time. In reality, there is no way a tiny flat-headed bolt could penetrate this very dense material. Something was wrong and Staples and the other company clearly wanted no part of dealing with this. I was given a third company to contact but realized that getting help was impossible. Returning the product was out of the question as I would have to spend 1 & 1/2 hours traveling there and back and I knew that I would NEVER get any satisfaction. There are some 50 tiny bolts, screws, wooden pegs and nuts involved besides some 7 panels. Of course, customer service at this store is horrific and it is not the fault of the employees (although previously it was!!!). The company like so many American companies has a policy in place of making things difficult and with this product..you would be a fool to purchase it and attempt to assemble it. I surmise that all these other furniture products are riddle with these products. My advice: IGNORE THE FURNITURE PRODUCTS if you want to save money by assembling them. Oh, and btw, the stores says they DO NOT ASSEMBLE these products and for obvious good reason: THEY ARE WORTHLESS. read more

I made the short trek up the hill to Auburn and was in and out of Staples within 15 minutes. They had already pulled the chair from stock and with a signature and assistance loading, I was on my way home. Great customer service. I received INCREDIBLE customer service from team members Elizabeth. Shortly before closing on March 10, I came into the store in pretty desperate need of a replacement power cord for my laptop. I got terrific, friendly assistance from Elizabeth in an instant (my laptop is so old that I knew finding the replacement would be difficult/confusing for me), and made a purchase in a matter of minutes. I was still not 100 percent sure if the power cord I purchased would work with my computer, so I opened the package after purchasing, and Elizabeth (along with team member Chandler) helped me see pretty quickly that the power cord would indeed work with my computer. Getting this purchase successfully taken care of the night before a very long and Zoom meetings-focused work day saved me from a lot of aggravation and running around to shop. I ventured to Auburn for an office chair for my work from home lifestyle. I began sitting in all the chairs and one sales rep approached me and offered help, he wasn't super-enthusiastic, but I expect that in a retail setting - especially after working at Best Buy for three years. Anyways, he offered help then was nowhere to be found when I actually wanted to check if something was in stock. I had to walk across the store to find him every time I wanted to check stock on something. Eventually, he never came back to help me again. The reason I'm leaving this review is that I wanted to acknowledge the employee who took the time to recognize that I needed help after being abandoned. He approached me with a positive attitude with a die-hard mission of finding me the right chair. The first words out of his mouth were a confident "Hey! I'm here to help you find the right office chair!" and he didn't stop until we found it. As an ex retail employee, I want to point out the pressure that pushing protection plans puts on CSRs. The first guy I worked with ONLY mentioned that and didn't give me any advice on the actual chair I was looking for. The second guy focused on the chair and mentioned the protection plan as a simple value add, not the ONLY thing that mattered. I think it's bonkers that anybody should need to feel pressured to buy a protection plan on a retail product and that a company has a structure set up where the 12.50/hour employee feels pressured to push it on people. The only time the store manager or supervisor was involved in the purchase was when she heard me asking about the MFG warranty. She rudely asked me "do you know what a warranty is?" as if I didn't know and then explained the service in a way that made me feel stupid for not buying it. The ONLY reason I left with a chair that day was because of the nice gentleman who took the time to help me find the right chair. NOT because of the guy who wouldn't take the time to make sure I was taken care of, and certainly NOT because of the manager who pushed the protection plan on me. I'm not opposed to protection plans, I just think that being the #1 leading benefit of buying a chair at Staples is a flawed strategy unless the company's only goal is to grab money from their customers ASAP as in-person retail dies. After an unfortunate incident at the Kinko's on Douglas in Roseville I needed to reprint my project at 7:00 pm and did not want to risk having a similar experience with overcharging and bad quality at the Grass Valley Highway Kinko's, so I decided to check out the competition in the same shopping center at this Staples. The printing associate (I think his name was Joe...? I'm probably wrong, though) was thoroughly helpful, well knowledgable, and very friendly. He made 4-5 reprints of my project until he got it just the way I wanted AND it cost less than half as much as Kinko's AND was a much better quality AND I wasn't even charged for the extra copies! In addition, my dad was also browsing around and found some software on clearance that he wanted. Jokingly, he asked the checkout guy, Alex, if he could get a bigger discount. Alex happily accepted the challenge and although he was unsuccessful, gave it his best effort. The last thing I noticed was that as we were leaving, an elderly man at the checkout beside us asked for a restaurant recommendation and Alex and the other checkout guy gladly provided directions to a nearby and great restaurant, Max's, which I have eaten at and can also advocate for their recommendation. Overall, a much better experience than at Kinko's and absolutely great customer service coming from the guys I worked with :) read more

They usually always have what I need from Office supply stuff and more. The service at the Auburn Staples has gone down so much in the last two years I finally had to say something. I go in to drop off Ink cartridges for recycling which they used to take at the drop off desk now they make you get in line at a cash register just to drop them off it's ridiculous. Thank You Chris! My remote battery operated car key quit working when I was at Staples for another reason. I went back inside to hopefully find a battery that would fit the remote. As I was at the battery display, Chris came up and asked if he could help. I had an appointment and was on a tight schedule. He showed me the right battery to purchase, assisted by putting it in the remote key for me, and then went outside with me to ensure it worked properly. Very bad experience went there to buy a laptop they had it on sale checked with the sales person whose computer specialist name Carson they told me they don't have it anymore it store and it is not even available online I said can I order it online they told me no staple is out so I and it was the last day for the sale that's what they told me on 24th February but on 25th February I tried ordering that laptop and I got it and I had $25 off coupon which was valid up to 24 so I could not use the coupon the sales person named Carson told me they sell extended warranty add free antivirus on their laptops when I went the following weekend to get free antivirus he was screaming at me and telling me I'm here to get something for nothing so highly disappointed with the store very poor service read more

I come by this Staples several times a month for supplies. Pricing with our Staples business account is superb. Beats almost any price you can get online (including Amazon.com). There's also a UPS drop-off location in the store which is very convenient. Staff are always pretty friendly, though I've seen more prompt/eager customer service. Definitely conveniently located only a couple blocks off the interstate with not much else nearby for office supplies. read more
