I was able to get a last minute appointment but was seen by a "technician" through a monitor. There's no one physically available other than the front desk receptionist. Then I waited even longer for a doctor to sign off on a prescription... still waiting...it's been an hour since I got here and there's nobody else waiting but me.

New glasses

Was helped by Bryanna and she had my glasses made 30 minutes after I selected frame, I can see again. Walked in at 4:00 was out before 5:00 with glasses, pretty good deal, buy one get one set free so I also got a backup set.

The communication could improve. I called on a Friday mid…read moremorning to say that I had spots, lines ,and that I was losing vision in my eye. I explained that I had spots before due to a cataract, but this was absolutely different. I was directed to the nurse and I left a message. At 3 o'clock in the afternoon, I realize that no one had gotten back to me and that they closed at four . I called again. Spoke to the same receptionist again. Although her customer service was basic, her attention to detail was poor. I was pretty upset so she said that she would speak to the doctor. I have no idea if she did or not. Long story short I was directed to go to the emergency room if it got worse if not, I could see them the following Tuesday or Thursday. I ended up going to the emergency room at 9 PM and they sent me via ambulance to UC Davis. I had a complete detached retina and a few other complications. I was told by the emergency room doctor and also by a doctor that I spoke with at UC Davis that had I waited, I could have completely lost my vision. The next week I called the office and asked to speak to the office manager. I was told first that he was out sick, then I was told that he was at lunch, and then I was told he went home for the day. I actually left two messages for him. To this day I have never received a phone call back from anyone. To add insult to injury, I received a phone call back from the nurse on the following Monday. She stated I should get a hold of the front office and let them know that I needed an appointment. Again, no urgency. It was obvious that they did not communicate with one another. I understand that I am certainly not the only patient but this was a true emergency. In the past, I have had amazing care at this office. I saw Dr. Chen for years and have great respect for him and his son. I am highly disappointed that I have not received a phone call back and that no one actually cared that I was literally going blind. I would recommend UC Davis, Eye Center for any issues that anyone has. In closing, I will not be returning to this office . I am only sharing this in hopes that they may actually listen to the next patient with this or any other issue. Had I not been my own advocate, and gone to the emergency room, I'm not sure what would have happened. Connie Ibarra

Bill is SUPER KNOWLEDGEABLE!…read more Came in for my eye exam and found out so much information about myself, my eyes and even gave me advice about my life !! My goodness I had no idea what I was walking into but sooooo glad I decided to come in for a visit! The ladies at the front desk were super friendly, I did not get her name but she has short blonde hair with tattoos - Well she was exceptional ! She should get a raise for her amazing customer service !! Super excited to be getting my glasses in 2 weeks, I came in for an appointment but Mr. Bill wanted me to come in for two more visits as he noticed something that might affect my vision long term, YIKES ! I love how he seemed worried for my own health, he genuinely cares for people and you can see it and feel it ! Thank you so much Bill & Staff for treating me like family ! (:

Do NOT go here. Was recommended going here for my frames and lenses. The receptionist Angela filled…read moreout my prescription wrong, billed my insurance, and then I got left with no glasses. I tried speaking to a manager there, and she handed the phone to Bill Henshaw. This is where lies, and getting yelled at came in while currently pregnant and pretty far along. He kept talking over me on the phone, not wanting to hear me out. Angela admittedly told me and my husband she had sent in the wrong prescription. And Bill Henshaw said she didn't and it was a "mistake" He told me that my insurance didn't cover my frames, lenses, and my prescription was too low to cover. And I wasn't billed. But I was! I told him that I spoke to my insurance. Not only was my prescription fine to cover as it met the requirements, but I was also billed! He argued / yelled at me while I was asking him to please call my insurance so he can hear what they told me. And he denied me of that while saying "I already wasted 30 mins of time while on this phone call. And I'm late for a customer and they been waiting" Which was TOTALLY rude and un-professional. He told me he knows "Every doctor" and will call them. Today I got a call from Delta Eye (where I got my exam) and it was strange!!! They claimed they were trying to help me with Bill Henshaw because he left a message. And the worker said some weird stuff like "whether you wanna hear or like this phone call or not" And I fully believe Bill Henshaw contacted where I got my exam and went off about me. All I wanted was glasses and for him to call my insurance to hear everything should be covered and fine. Not yell, lie about it not being charged, or covered, then speak to other doctors negatively about me when all I wanted was help. Please do not go to this place. Spare your stress. And don't EVER get treated how I did.
