Unless you know how My Eyelab works, and especially during this pandemic, there can be a lot of frustration in the whole process of ordering new prescriptions. The only saving grace is getting to know Leonor, who manages the store in Oakwood Plaza, which happens to be a very convenient location. First of all, I suggest not to get an exam with the doctor via Video because the diagnosis was completely wrong and the suggestions of getting '"progressive lenses" was also wrong. Nothing went well the first go around and because when I received the 2 pair of glasses , I could not see my computer screen, read a document, nor had an easy time with looking at my cell phone. I immediately went back to my old pair and tried to call the store to let them know I was going to return the glasses. Calling the store? Well you do not get to talk to the store, but another company that intercepts the calls and made excuses why I could not talk to the store. I drove over there and told them that I wanted a refund and start all over somewhere else and the diagnosis was wrong. I was turned over to Leonor, who calmly got to the bottom of the problem and made an appointment with the doctor IN the store for during the times he was there. Well, after that? Wrong again. I wanted single lenses, which they did, but again, they did not satisfy my ability to use my computer and read my phone like I could do with my old pair. Misdiagnosed again. I drove back there and after bursting with rage before I went in the door, I reminded myself how helpful Leonor was. This time I suggested that I sit with the specialist there, read a computer screen and use my phone as she changed the sample lenses to fit what I can actually see. She spent a good half hour with me and after realizing that actually looking at the computer screen from a realistic distance and being able to use my phone, there was one lens that worked. Problem solved and in 2 weeks picked up my single lens glasses (2 Pairs) and Leonor also gave me a credit for the overage I spent on the original progressive lenses. The third visit to the store could of been a very nasty one, but I owe it to Leonor, the store manager to analyze what my issue was, twice, calmly suggest a solution and she never gave up on me. Normally I would of made a scene regarding this situation, that really took a couple months. Lesson learned: sometimes you have to be patient, and nice, when things go wrong with service, because the outcomes could result in "problems solved". Leonor is probably the best customer service person I know, so my advice is to deal with her first, introduce yourself and she will help you with any issues if needed. My Eyelab is not like going to an eye doctor, it has any locations and is quite commercial, so minimize that problem by getting to know the people in the store. That is the best advice I can give if you want to deal with them. They have good discounts on frames and a large selection, but be careful getting your eyes checked. Find out when the doctor is actually in the store. I hope this review made people "see things clearer'.

Finally an Eyelab store that's responsive and guarantees their work. After months of trying for the store on State Rd 7;in Hollywood FL, it took months and 1 star reviews with negative responses from them, I found honorable smart people in the store in Oakwood blvd. Where Henry and Maria both went out of their way to comprehend and amend the mishandling of my lenses situation, replacing them and even permitting me to but a new frame at a good price. Thanks to the management to allow me not to go back to the State Rd 7 store, honoring my warranty and letting me find a solution with such nice personnel in the Oakwood store also in Hollywood FL.

During this Stay-at-Home mandate my daughter ran out of contacts so we made an appointment at The new Eye Labs in the Oakwood Plaza in Hollywood. We arrived early for our appointment but the store was locked up in a few minutes the store opened and we checked in. We walked around and selected a pair of glasses and then went to the waiting area. Time slowly went by and 30 minutes after our appointment I decided we should leave. We were told we were the first appointment so we knew the hold up was that someone was late to work. As we started to walk out we were told she would be here in 5 minutes, please wait. Another 12 minutes went by and finally someone walked in the backdoor. Finally we were taken into an exam room and we learned that the doctor was going to see my daughter via a video call. Which was even more frustrating that we had to wait so long just for an assistant to show her the chair and turn on the video. An apology would have been nice but there was no mention of our 42 minute wait. The exam went fine, but the doctor never asked if we had questions or concerns. He was off the video in a snap and we were left never sharing why were we there. Strange is before the exam we had to fill out a questionnaire but I guess he didn't have time to read it. It was very frustrating. The best part of the visit was the sales women in the store. She was friendly and was the saving grace. I had to ask to talk to the doctor that I had questions and I was told to set up another appointment. So now I have to pay again just to ask questions? Will I have to wait another 42 minutes? Not sure if I feel any confidence in this service at this time.

I was looking for a place to get a new pair of eye glasses before the year of benefit ends. I went to a few other chain places before but they do not accept my insurance plan, but I was finally able to find this place near my house. The inside of the store is huge. All I can see is wall to wall of different eye glass frames displayed through out the store. Seems like a pretty good deal where they offer free eye exams if you purchase the eye glasses there. Since I already got my eye prescription, all I had to do is to pick a frame and decided the types of lenses I wanted. My head got really dizzy while I was trying to look for the frame I like. Sometimes a huge section might be too much of a good thing...LOL! Luckily my wife was there to help me. She knows about my taste so she quickly picked out a few frames for me to choose from. I particularly loved two of them and was finally able to pick the winner. In the end, because of my insurance, I got allowances for frame so it costed me nothing. I also picked the transition lens with anti-glare and anti-scratch and I only paid just about $100.00 for the whole thing. The staff who helped was friendly and helpful. The only drawback is that it takes about 2 weeks for me to get my frames, but I am not in an emergency so I am fine by that.

An indication of the quality of their glasses.

We purchased glasses here a few months ago and with very few uses the glasses broke in half, see the picture I posted. Now they want to charge us for another pair. The glasses are very poor quality the lenses pop out the legs are wobbly. Save your money and go someplace else or you're going to have to buy new glasses every 6 months. Update: Their customer service reached out to me, only to have me call their customer service line, stay on the phone for 30 minutes and then tell me that there is nothing they can do.

Three weeks ago, I had a full eye examination with Dr. Wise, an ophthalmologist (MD) in Florida. Since I have worn glasses since high school, all I needed at this visit was a new prescription after losing my glasses. Last year, I also had a full exam at LensCrafters in Aventura, where the front desk clearly explained all costs and insurance coverage before my appointment. That visit was handled transparently and professionally. At MyEyeDr, however, the front desk did not explain what my insurance would or would not cover. During my appointment, a technician took retinal images without informing me that this would result in a $44 charge. I should have been told in advance and given the choice to decline. In addition, I was charged $140 for a contact lens fitting that was never discussed with me beforehand. The optometrist attempted multifocal lenses, which did not work for me. I was the one who had to suggest the lens setup I normally use (one lens for distance), and only then did he agree it would work. This left me feeling the fitting was unnecessary and not worth the fee. At checkout, I was presented with a bill of $640 that included these undisclosed charges. I was not prepared for such an amount and chose not to proceed with the purchase. The interaction with the sales associate afterward was uncomfortable and unprofessional. Because I was not informed of these additional services or fees beforehand, I am requesting a refund of the $44 retinal image fee and the $140 contact lens fitting fee. I believe this is a fair resolution given the lack of transparency and communication at my appointment. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and resolution.

Thought it was easy to make the appointment, but as it turns out, we had to wait a few weeks before the first available spit. It's either they are doing pretty good business, or weekend spots are hard to get. However, we find it very easy to check in when we arrived. The staff was pretty friendly and checked us in pretty quick without any delays. Maybe it has something to do with our appointment being at 10am. Nevertheless, the staff did their job. Surprisingly, the doctor was able to see us at about 10:05am, which is remarkable! She was pretty friendly and helpful, answered all the questions my wife and I had. And really took her time to examine us. I was afraid my vision is going out of whack as I get older. Luckily it hasn't gone worse since my last eye exam so I don't require new prescription glasses at this time. My wife's vision is still pretty good, but she got a new pair of reading glasses to help her with reading magazines and newspapers. And they are easy to deal with on insurance too. The staff explained to us about our co-pays and helped my wife with a pair of reading glasses that fits her perfectly. We only paid $15.00 out of pocket for them which is cool. I'd definitely recommend anyone looking for an eye doctor to see Dr. Chen.

"I wish I could give zero stars. This was one of the most upsetting customer-service experiences I…read morehave ever had, particularly because it involved my 91-year-old mother." I made an appointment for my 91-year-old mother, who has severe arthritis and significant mobility issues, with Vincent Campbell on July 16. Getting her to an appointment is no small undertaking. It requires considerable effort to get her out of the house, transport her, and bring her into the office in a wheelchair. When I made the appointment, my mother was not yet in the system. Vincent Campbell was at the desk, so I called my mother on my phone and had her provide him directly with her insurance information and the other information needed to create her patient record. He then returned my phone and gave me an appointment card for 2:00 p.m. When we arrived for the appointment, I was told that the office had checked my mother's insurance and determined that she did not have eye coverage through Humana. I asked whether anyone had contacted her for additional information. The doctor, who overheard the conversation, said that she had called multiple times. When I asked what number she had called, she read back my phone number. I checked my phone records, and there were no calls from Chen Optical. After I pointed this out, Vincent said he would send an email to Eye Care to establish that my mother did have coverage. Shortly afterward, the situation was somehow resolved and my mother was determined to have eye coverage after all. By that point, however, her 2:00 p.m. appointment had been given away. I asked whether there was any possibility of fitting her in. Vincent said he would try to see her between the next two patients and indicated it would take approximately half an hour. Because getting my mother to the office is such a tremendous physical effort, we decided to wait. We waited. And waited. At approximately 3:15 p.m.--more than an hour after her scheduled appointment and after at least four other patients had been seen--my mother said she thought we should make another appointment. I commented to her that since we had already gone through so much effort to get there, perhaps we should wait a little longer. Vincent overheard me and responded rudely, even though we were not speaking to him. My mother, understandably upset, said, "Excuse me, sir, we were not talking to you." At that point, Vincent became enraged and ordered us to leave the office. He told us that we should never come back again. This was my 91-year-old mother--an elderly woman with severe arthritis and mobility issues who had already endured the considerable physical ordeal of getting to the appointment. The appointment was mishandled because of an insurance issue that was apparently resolved only after I questioned it. Her appointment was then given away, we waited for more than an hour, and when my mother finally expressed that she wanted to reschedule, we were treated with hostility and thrown out. I am sharing this so that other families--particularly those caring for elderly, disabled, or mobility-impaired relatives--can make an informed decision before choosing this office. Professionalism, patience, and basic courtesy should not be too much to expect from an optical office. Unfortunately, that was not our experience at Chen Optical.
