We were patients at Eye Q for approximately six years and remained mainly because of the doctor. Unfortunately, our experiences with staff steadily declined over time. Service was often unprofessional, turnaround times were excessive (over six weeks for lens replacement), and recent interactions became unnecessarily argumentative after payment was accepted. My wife was told she had rosacea on her face which is why her eyes were dry. We got 3 more opinions and all disagreed heavily with Dr Wafa. My wife was also prescribed $500 glasses which we were told just recently weren't needed at all. I love this place!! I have been wearing glasses for 30 something years so I am particular about what ophthalmologist I choose. Yelp saved the day with this year's annual exam. Yelpers said amazing things about this place and the staff. Sorry, these are my eyes and I need to have some trust because I like my vision thank you. I had a pediatric ophthalmologist until they cut me off at 22 years old lol. That's when I started ophthalmologist hopping. I have an extensive history of my eyes so I observe whether the doc pays attention or not. I know what the procedure is for my eyes so well, I can do it with my eyes closed for them (har har har). I have seen some ophthalmologists who were rude or did not listen to the medical problems with my eyes. A major peeve of mine is when physicians do not listen to their patients! I was skeptical, as I always am trying a new specialist. I trust Yelp and that is what helped a lot. My hubby needed an exam as well so instead of me continuing to nag him, I booked our appointments together. I tried calling but no answer so I sent an email request. I received a call from Lauren to book and provide insurance and contact information for us both. She was super cool and friendly. We were confirmed for a Saturday morning. We arrive and were welcomed with paperwork to complete. After, it did not take long before we were led to a room with the machines that take pictures behind your eyeballs. Then we went to the exam room. Anyone who has been to any eye specialist can probably agree with me that it is much appreciated when the lighting is dim and that is how it was. I felt like I was waiting for a massage lol. We were greeted by Dr. Wafa with a giant smile and super enthusiasm. This was a first for me! I went first since I have more of a history than hubby. Dr. Wafa explained what she was looking for based on diabetes and other eye disorders I informed her I had. I was then relieved when she said everything looks good and I have some minor issues with something (sorry can't remember!) due to my diabetes but it usually goes away on its own. I also informed her that lately I have been struggling to see up close. Dr. Wafa then provided a specific exam for that and yup, I am officially old and need progressive lens. Crap. I'm only 36. I guess it could be worse. I have to get my eyes dilated every year. My eyes used to be dilated for 3 days until I came up with the idea to request one drop in each eye instead of the normal 2 drops. I forgot to ask and Dr. Wafa already knew to do that, I believe because I have really light eyes. If I didn't love her already, it was now official! Hubby went next and like most wives who become mothers to their husbands.... I made sure he told the truth about never letting his eyes breathe and wearing contacts 24/7. Of course Dr. Wafa educates him on the dangers of not allowing oxygen to your eyes and there was already some damage. She instructed him to wear glasses 2 days straight a week. Who wants to bet on if he listened so far? (We went a month prior to this review was written). After we were done, we went to search for frames. Of course I find sunglasses that cannot be turned into Rx glasses because of the way it was screwed in. I finally picked out my frames (Gucci Rx sunglasses and Versace Rx glasses). It took a while but everything was added up, with both insurances, and it was $1100. Not bad at all. Hubby got 6 months of contact lens, Rx glasses, an eye exam, and the picture behind his eyes. I got 2 designer frames, both Rx lens, progressive lens built in, some other special effects, an eye exam, and samples of contact lens. The only minor thing was it took over a week for the glasses to come in and they "forgot" to charge for the other eye of contact lens. Otherwise, Go here!! read more

My eye appointment was September 27th @ 10:16 a.m. for eye exam and new frames. So right from the start there was trouble. Not long after the initial visit, I received a phone call from EyE Q Optical telling me that the glasses needed to be sent back out because of a problem with the lenses. The girl (don't know the girls name) didn't like the way the lenses were "cut". In addition, I had no idea how long this might take. I had not heard anything since September 28th. I called for status and was told the glasses were coming; being shipped overnight that they should be here next day (Saturday). Needless to say, I got no phone call or update on Saturday. Did not call on Sunday, did call on Monday and the office was closed. On October 25th, I went to pickup my glasses. Needless to say, I am NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER. UNBELIEVABLE ...... When I put on my new glasses, I noticed that my glasses were not darkening like my other glasses. Come to find out, they did not add the darkening like my other glasses had. I WAS IMMEDIATELY BLAMED FOR THE OVERSIGHT. I MADE MYSELF VERY CLEAR THAT I WANTED THE DARKENING. I EVEN EXPLAINED THAT I DO OUTSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY SO I CONSTANTLY HAVE MY GLASSES ON AND NEED TO PROTECT MY EYES AT THE TIME OF THE VISIT. SO TO SUM IT UP... IT TOOK ALMOST A MONTH TO GET MY NEW GLASSES. I BELIEVE THE GIRL AT THE FRONT DESK IS INEPT. HER PERSONALITY NEEDS ADJUSTMENT. It was the beginning of the year so we decided to make sure our whole family could see it clearly! So what better than a family field trip to the optometrist! I chose Dr. Wafa because she was recommended to me by an ophthalmologist and she had five star Yelp reviews. Making the appointment was easy and they were very flexible when it came to seeing all four of us. The place is located in the Aroma strip mall in Cooper City. Dr. Wafa was professional but very warm. This was my boys' first comprehensive eye exam and she was great with them. Dr. Wafa explained everything clearly without dumbing it down too much. Eye Q has tons of frames to choose from. If you are looking for the latest designer, frames, you will find a great selection there: Tiffany, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, etc... They do have some less expensive frames. My 12 year old son did not find exactly what he wanted there (the totally flex frames) so we ended up getting them elsewhere. Eye Q works with most vision plans and gives discounts on the frames with insurance. We would not hesitate to return there for your yearly eye exams. read more

I loved, loved. loved my experience here. I needed to get my eyes checked and Eye Q Optical accepted my insurance, were open on Saturdays, and were fairly close to my house. I saw the wonderful reviews form Sherry & Anquanette and said this place must be legit, so I booked an appt for a Saturday morning. I got there early and was greeted by Lauren who was ready to rock. I wanted to get some new glasses so before I even saw the doctor she pulled me over to their MEGA wall of options and we went to work. She pulled no less than 40 different frames for me to try on, gave me honest feedback if she liked them for me or not, laughed at some of them, and then we started to make piles of glasses to try on again. She found frames that fit my "face shape" and interesting colors that went with my light eyes and blonde hair. It was quite fun I must admit! I actually picked out 2 frames and then it was time to see the Dr. The doctor was quick and easy and she updated my RX slightly. Ordered my glasses and about a week later they were ready. Went and picked them up and have gotten TONS of compliments on them. I loved the speed of this place, the selection, and the myriad of frame pricing options (they have frames that will fit every budget). The website says they are open 24hrs on Sunday, which I find doubtful. I called twice and both times the phone just rang for a long time and nobody picked up. Then a generic message from an old school operator type voice saying that nobody is at the number. This business needs to understand that information should be accurate and they should have basic ABC's of business like someone answering the phone promptly or at a minimum a voicemail that is tailored to the business. Lauren was very helpful and accommodating. My regular ophthalmologist office does not carry Maui Jim sunglasses. I got spoiled with my first pair in 2012 before moving here from Maine. I got the dark gray and find their clarity unmatched, the best polarizing I've ever experienced and seem to make colors really pop. Before Maui Jim I had RayBans which were ok, but the Maui Jim blew them away. After several Rx changes since then it was time to get a new pair or new lenses, especially for reading. Not too many places carry Maui Jim for Rx sunglasses so I was thrilled to find EyeQ carries a fairly wide selection. I happen to like the rimless lens style since they weigh so little, and I like a bit of wrap to help with driving when the sun is off to my left side. People obsessed with the latest will be happy that Maui Jim does put out new styles, but lucky for me they did not discontinue my current style. Although a couple of alternates on my radar were discontinued. Best place to look for styles is the web site since Lauren said they can order any current style in any of the colors offered. After trying on a few, I chose a same style/new color. Where Lauren shines is in her positive attitude: having progressive lenses, the gradient shade of gray that seems to be the new default, is not very dark and nearly clear toward the reading zone at the bottom. I tried them for a week and found the lack of dark shade in the reading zone was a weird sensation and was harsh when relaxing out in the sun and reading, it's polarized but still leaves harsh white pages. My old pair is solid dark gray and for my usage are much better at reducing the harshness of white and light colors especially when reading. She gladly offered to return the glasses for the solid gray lenses. I also felt the reading zone was a little low so she offered to adjust it up a bit in the new lenses. I know most places will exchange Rx lenses, but some make it feel like they are doing you a favor. Lauren makes you feel comfortable and always has a very helpful demeanor and positive attitude making the return/exchange a very pleasant experience. read more

I first met her when she worked at the Target Optical on the corner of University & Stirling Rd. She then opened her own practice and I followed a couple blocks down the street to her new location. She truly is a professional and loves what she does. She has an amazing sense of humor and she's all about giving you the best service possible. She provides you with various options so you never feel as though you're stuck with just one thing. She's so great that I brought my mother and father to her (they both live in the islands) as well as my older brother. They all feel the same about her as I do and have made referrals to her already! There is also a large selection of frames and sunglasses available. Brand names like Coach, Gucci, Tory Burch, Prada, and Fendi just to name a few. She even has more affordable frames as well. She accepts most insurance but be sure to call and ask and the lovely girls at the front desk will be able to help you out. Last year (2018) I went to this location to get my eyes checked and prescription glasses. The first time with the doctor I wasn't dilated. The second time I came back because I couldn't see and asked for glasses. This time they dilated my eyes. When I received the glasses, I couldn't see. So I went back and the manager ordered strong prescription for me. I have a stigmatism in my right eye and it is -.75. My left eye is -25. After trying it for 1 month, I still couldn't see. I went back to let her know, and she was frustrated because she didn't know how to help me. So I left it alone and decided to wait until oct 1 , 2019 for my new insurance to go to Walmart. I went to Walmart oct 3rd, 2019 to check my eyes and they tested my glasses. She doctor told me that my stigmatism disappeared from my left eye and is now in my right. I told her that it wasn't true because my last doctor told me that my stigmatism was in my right . She said to me "well it's in the left eye in your glasses". So this entire time that I was complaining about how I couldn't see wasn't in my head nor was it a issue that a specialist needed to check. The manager of eye q optical placed my prescription in my glasses backwards. I walked around like that for almost a year. I went back to eye q optical and told the receptionist what happened . She checked my prescription and my glasses and saw that they were indeed placed in backwards. she popped out my lens and swapped them. Now I can see PERFECTLY. Now I know to go to Only go to eye q optical on Thursdays when the manager isn't present. read more

This place is fantastic !! Dr. Wafa is really great with our entire family....our kids just love her !!! Every year we go in for our annual check-up, our prescriptions are super accurate, and my vision is perfect. As a photographer, my glasses are very critical; they require progressive lenses, transitions, and anti-reflective coatings. Every pair of glasses I've gotten from here have been spot on !!
