A great casual place. Haddock & chips are golden and crispy. I haven't dined-in but it's a nice little space. Pre-covid, you used to grab your own ketchup/vinegar/tarter sauce. Now they ask if you want and they're generous with the condiments. I've always gotten take-out from here and the food is always hot and stays crispy. I've had take-out fish & chips from other places & had issue with sogginess. Their coleslaw is creamy and good. The staff are all friendly and nice and thankful for your business. Just moved to the area and was hunting for a good fish and chips place. The reviews seemed good here. Don't know why? Maybe people in Whitby have never eaten fish before. For $48 for 2 small fish and chips it was terrible. The fish was dry like wood chips and the fries seemed like they were cooked at breakfast and left to soak in the grease all day. Soaking wet and ice cold. We didn't even finish our meal. That's $50 down the drain. Hype reviews beware. read more

Great casual fish and chip joint in downtown Brooklin. Our server was charming and prompt. We both ordered the halibut dinner with chips, I got coleslaw and he upgraded to a Greek salad. We both really enjoyed our meals. The batter was light and not too oily. We didn't get dessert but noticed that they had apple pie, ice cream and cheese cake. However the only dessert made in house was rice pudding (which I don't like). I'll be back. read more

This is the second time we came here and both times we were very happy. Located in Brooklyn, a nice 30 minute drive east of Toronto. Being a fish and chips place, fish is the star on the menu but they also have a few other items if you don't want fish. I had the halibut plate which comes with fries and coleslaw. The batter was delicious, good thickness too. The fries were good and the coleslaw creamy. They also have senior portions which are smaller. The price was fair for what we got. The waitress was very friendly and the cook (owner?) also came to see how everything was. Worth the drive to go back. read more

Yum! Hands down best F&C's in Brooklin. I have been here several times and always get great service and food. The place is always clean and friendly. The batter is crispy and the fish is fresh! You have to try the greek salad! The owner had made one too many and offered it to me while I was waiting for my order, I'm glad I took him up. Apparently they make the dressing from scratch. Server ignored us for 5 minites so we seated ourselves and got ignored for another 5 minutes I understand why this place only has 2 customers on a Saturday night. My husband and I went here for dinner on Friday, and will never be back. The floors were absolutely disgusting- french frys, napkins, lettuce, dirt all over- looked like the restaurant hadn't been swept in days. We sat down and waited 5 minutes for the waitress to bring us a menu. She was rude, and didn't even smile. My husband ordered a burger(which was completely undercooked) and I ordered the fish dinner with coleslaw. The fish was extremely greasy, and the coleslaw was disgusting.. way too creamy, looked like soup, and tasted like slop. The waitress never checked on us to ask us how our meal was, she was standing around at the front with all the other kids that work there. There was about 7 kids working, not even one adult. The washrooms had papertowel and toliet paper all over the floor, the toliets were gross. It's a good thing there is quite a selection for fish and chips in Brooklin. read more

I've been to a few fish and chip places in the Whitby area and this is probably my favourite. The two of us usually split 2 haddock and 1 fries with coleslaw and that's plenty of food for us (and we're not small eaters!). The haddock is excellent. The batter is light and not greasy. The fish itself is a thick whole side of haddock, which I greatly prefer over halibut. It's nicely golden fried and no soggy bits! The fries are fresh cut and they give you a whole platter for 1 order. Coleslaw is just ok... too much liquid. If you go late close to closing time, call ahead make sure they are still open. They turned off the fryers early on us one time! They have a parking lot on the side. read more

We came in around 6pm june 2 for dinner. There was ONE table and the restaurant was empty so we stood there waiting to be served. There was one lady with blonde hair in the kitchen who clearly seen us and didn't even say anything. So we stood for about 5 mins and decided maybe she's busy so we seated ourselves. She walked passed us 2 times and didn't even look our way or even said hi. Another person working there (with red hair) clearly seen us and ignored us. We got up and left. The owner a gentlemen would never do this. Very disappointing and we felt very disrespected. To the owner: please hire better staff! We love the food but after today not sure If we will ever be back. read more

One of the best fish and chips I have been to. Portions are big!. And the place is very clean. Owner is very friendly and we found the service to be very good and friendly. It also has a liquor license. I have been back many times despite the drive. One can sit down (plenty of seats compared to other fish and chips places) or you can takeout. The pieces of fish are a decent size but I've seen bigger portions in other fish and chip restaurants. They are very generous with the fries, they basically fill your plate. I would say that our family fish and chips meal was adequate. I was disappointed in the fries or lack thereof. We ordered 4 fish and 2 chips which I felt for almost $60 would be sufficient for our family, however upon opening our meal, we discovered that the fries were mainly ends and the box was only 3/4 full, which I assume was the end of the basket of already made fries. The fish was okay, good quality but unfortunately slightly underdone but not enough not to eat it. Overall very disappointed and not likely to order again. Poor value for the money. read more

This review is for the new Main Street Markham location. My wife and i went there for dinner Friday night. We were eager to try the new restaurant and pub, looking forward to another local place on the main street. Unfortunately when we arrived we waited 5 minutes and no one even acknowledged our presence. It wasn't for a a lack of staff, as there appeared to be a couple of servers and 2 bartenders who seemed to notice us but walked by us and ignored us several times. It wasn't even that busy with only a couple of tables eating, but every other table was still dirty from previous patrons. Menu looked pretty standard and un inspired (basic fish and chips) and though it would have been nice to try we decided ther are too many other places nearby that we can count on the service and the food (The Dutchess, Madison, Johnny's Bistro). I guess Davids Fish and Chips will continue to be our place for fish and the Dutch our pub! read more
