I ordered 2 of their specials (Haddock and chips including a pop) for $12.50 + tax each. I was a little hesitant about the haddock being fishy? And was debating on paying more and getting their halibut. I was worried sick all the way home. But Upon eating the haddock, I was truly genuinely surprised at how good it was. Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference between this and halibut which is saying a lot about fish and chips. When my food was done, I saw the cook ( a lady ) and it was the same one from my previous visits a long time ago. Oh boy, I hope they don't change as the lady cook is a keeper! I know that this place was up for sale a while back and that is why I was hesitant to come here recently. But, after seeing that the cook is the same, I will be sure to make a few more visits and into my regular rotation of take out food. To all the yelpers out there. This is by far the best haddock I've tried and is comparable to halibut at a portion of the price. It's an easy recommendation.

I have been to this plaza a few times over the years. I've been to the Tim Hortons a handful of times. I was at Mom's Pan-fried Buns a few months ago, which is a couple of businesses down from The Big Catch. This plaza has lots of parking. I pulled into a parking spot and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a friendly, efficient woman. I got halibut and chips as my main meal. I paid for a can of Diet Coke with a credit card. Tap. Done! I found a table. I caught up with some photos on my phone. It didn't take long for my food to arrive. I had to ask for my Diet Coke. She was running the entire fry-seating show, so I was patient. I finally got my drink. Yay! The halibut was a decent portion. I got a lot of fries. My meal came with a lemon slice and tartar sauce. There was also a bottle of ketchup on the table. I loved the halibut. The batter was light and crispy. The fish was flaky and yummy. I loved dunking my halibut in the tartar sauce that tasted homemade. The fries were good. Just too many of them for my liking. I dunked them in both ketchup and tartar sauce. My Diet Coke helped wash everything down. Thank goodness I got one. It was cold. I got a straw. The woman was great. She asked how my meal was while I was dining. It was a nice touch. I had to use the washroom twice. I came into the eatery after driving for 1.5 hours from Mississauga and downing a beverage. It's a single stall for everyone. It was clean, but dated. I used it again before I headed home. It's funny that I had washroom in mind when I got here that I completely forgot to grab some change to leave a tip. I went back to my car to get some, came back into the eatery, and let the woman know that I was back to give a tip. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I'd return again when I'm back in this plaza and have a craving for halibut. (373)

Got the chicken fingers for the kids with $4 extra for poutine. The poutine gravy was very salty though. Can't eat the whole thing. Small quaint place tucked away in a small plaza in a neighborhood side street with promises of offering traditional British fare. Pleanty of parking in the plaza. First thought inside was a tad dated but a cute neighborhood joint . Menu offered a number of British classics like mushy peas and meat pies.. but I came for the fish and chips. Cool thing you can choose you fish, halibut, haddock and Cod. I chose the combo meal with gave 2 big pieces of battered fish, chips and 2 sides and I chose the mushy peas and coleslaw (when in Rome lol). I thought the fish was done perfectly and chips were crispy on the outside and tender. I enjoyed it here, the price was reasonable I thought and our server was friendly. I would recommend this place if you are craving decent fish and chips.

I only come to this place as a back up to "Duckworths" and "Olde Yorke". They are very close by and worth it to go to these places instead. That is where I'll be taking my fish and chips business. Because they are 10 times better in quality and taste. 1st bad experience: I came here about a month ago and I checked their website for their hours as I had to drive 50 minutes to get there. Once I got there they had posted a paper sign that they were gone fishing and closed for a week or two. Now, I know everybody deserves a break or vacation. I'm not mad about that BUT they should notify their paying customers, especially on their website. That is where they failed. 2nd bad experience: so I still came back (ugh) recently because I was in the area. This time I called to make sure they are open. I proceeded to order a superb fillet of Haddock as it is their first menu item. The lady at the desk said ok halibut. I said no the haddock. I had to go on my phone and show her the menu item. Fine, I then proceeded to order a steak pie. I said cooked and she said do you want to cook it at home? I told her NO I want to eat it right away. OMG. I also ordered a small onion rings. This is after literally 4 minutes of ordering just 3 menu items. I mean the lady spoke English so there was no language barrier. She was just, how do you say politely "unintelligent". I thought whatever, maybe it'll be ready in 5-10 minutes. THEN The order taker passes it onto another waitress, it took her (I'm not joking) literally 3 minutes to explain superb haddock fillet and steak pie. Then she asks me anything else. I was completely exasperated, I told her " I ALSO ORDERED ONION RINGS" OMFG. This lady is "UNINTELLIGENT" OMFG I just left And Took my business to "Olde Yorke Fish and chips". Where I'll be taking my business from now on. I am NEVER coming back here again And If you want a decent Fish and chips for the food and experience. The packaging is well thought out for the travel home. It's a nice to see they care about the details. At home when I open the package it looks fabulous. The fish is golden and crispy. Sliced thin it's a large piece of fish. I prefer it like this over the chunky cuts that I sometimes see in other places. The fries are great. Fresh cut. Perfectly cooked. The coleslaw is homemade creamy and fresh. Slightly sweet it cuts through and complements the not too greasy fried food quite nicely. Even with a good splash of vinegar the fish stays crispy. This is going to be one of my favorite fish and chips in the city. Can't wait to go back.

The haddock was good - tasty & reasonably crispy even eaten 15 mins later as takeout. The chips had an authentic British crispiness, so they'd have been better when fresh. The shrimp was coconut shrimp rather than being normal battered shrimp (this isn't mentioned on the main menu, but elsewhere). It was decent, though the slightly spicy cocktail sauce did not really go with it. There was quite a bit of "shrimp" (i.e. reformed shrimp patty with a shrimp tail stuck in). Both dishes came with a small serving (sauce container) of coleslaw. It was decent - crisp & tasty, though a touch sharp.
