this place has been on my list in forever - so glad we finally got to try them out! crispiest and lightest battered fish here & they diy their onion rings! everything is nade hot & fresh - ready to order. worth every bite!

I was intrigued by the name and graffiti so after gaming at Guild House I gave it a try. I got the kids meal but I'm such a small eater I managed to split it into 2 meals. Pretty good fish and chips, potatoes were cut thick so they were more authentic chips vs fries, but would have appreciated mushy peas as well.

too much batter fish fell out

Fish and chips holds a dear place in my heart. Fried fish and fries, crispy exterior, soft flaky interior, tangy creamy tartar sauce. It's just a beautiful combination. Sea Witch Fish and Chips has a pretty decent interior decor, and welcoming staff. The main staff are very knowledgeable, although, I believe the person battering and frying the fish that day was still relatively new. Purely speculation though. They offer four types of fish: Halibut ($26) , haddock ($17.50) , trout ($18) and pickerel ($19) . Opting for a white fish but still trying something new, I went for the pickerel. I thought that despite the thick batter, the fish was actually quite well seasoned and the fries weren't too bad either, although inconsistent. Overall, I think that Sea Witch Fish and chips could yield a better experience and if I was in the area, I wouldn't mind giving it another chance. 3.5/5

    Takeout in poutine boxes?

On my search for the best fish and chips spot in the GTA area. It brings me here to Sea Witch. On all the glowing reviews and top lists for fish and chips in the city. First the packaging is ok. Packaged in a poutine box. It did get soggy but I can live with it. Note: "Recommend all fish and chips establishments to package in paper box and wrap in paper " Another positive is they give loads of fries. Portion wise, I'm satisfied and fish is a good size as well. Again another plus is they make homemade tartar as well all should. The tartar was one of the best I've ever tried. On to why this is only a 3 star place for me. I ordered Halibut and chips and 2 pc Cod and chips. I was pleased with the Halibut. Nice solid white fish. Must be a good supplier. The Cod on the other hand was a bit fishy tasting, not to my liking. However the batter on both fish was nice, flaky and crispy. On to the fries, I did say it was a great portion size but it was overly salted and way too much salt. For these reasons, I would rank Sea Witch in the middle of the pack compared to other places. 3 stars for my visit. A little above average. But would recommend other places first before here. I'll continue my reviews for local fish and chips spots but I'll probably won't be back here. There are other places where I've reviewed higher.

My spouse and have have been fans of Sea Witch since it opened. We would regularly go pick up a two piece order of haddock and fries. We've tried all the notable fried fish places in Toronto and Sea Witch is hands down our favourite place for fish and chips. Their fries are clearly fresh and always delicious. The breading on the fish is perfect; it's crisp and light without being cakey. We ordered Sea Witch for delivery and I was ordered the order wouldn't travel well. It did! It arrived warm! The only "complaint" I have is that the portions are enormous! Ahahaha!

    Fish (haddock) and chips

We ordered fish and chips (haddock and cod). The first few bites (or really, chomps, since those are big-sized portions you're diving into) were awesome - the fish was fresh and 'juicy', while the batter tasted almost like unsweetened crispy donut (a good thing). So after the first few bites, I was all ready to give Sea Witch a 5 star rating and anoint it as one of the best fish and chips places in the city. And maybe it still is for some people. But after getting through maybe a third of my haddock, and after my wife got through a third of her cod, we were just so overwhelmed by the amount of batter and ready to give up. Now I know I said the batter tasted good, but this was a bit too too too much. We ordered the slaw on the side (not bad, not amazing) and started wolfing it down just to get a different taste, but the batter wouldn't be defeated. Eventually, it overwhelmed even the fish, which is unfortunate because, again, the fish was really good (taste and quality). Now this may be just personal taste, but I'd much rather have the fish as king in my fish and chips. At Sea Witch though, the batter seems to be the star.

Have been ordering from this place for a long time. Their prices are very high bit it reflects the quality of the food. Excellent. The reason for my review on this place is that I was shocked to Sea the meagre size of the Halibut portions I was given in my most recent order. It was very noticeable. I ordered for 4 people, 4 pieces of Halibut, 3 Fries, 3 soups, 2 Cole Slaw. It came to $190, almost $50 per person for take out. Again, I probably wouldn't have written this review had the portions been reasonable as they always were in the past.

I ordered the Halibut and onion rings $27; the batter is too thick on both items. It is quite greasy and oily because of the batter, I gave up after I ate 2 small rings. The fish is kind of tasteless without the tartar sauce. I drove an hour to try it because of the reviews. But, overall it's not impressive. I can totally taste the difference from Georgian Bay's and Manitoulin Island fishes from the local's fish & chips roadside food stores. Although it's not the over-priced Halibuts, the white fishes are still more favourable then this price.Classic Halibut

This establishment was kind of a gem to find, probably from the tree that was blocking the sign. So I came here from hearing about people talk about a good fish and chips in the Toronto West End. The hostess was kind enough to explain the variance of the fish and their texture when deep fried. Tuesday afternoon and they presented some specials which I ended up picking out cause it was quite enticing. The haddocks came in 4 big pieces, 2 chips and 1 large size slaw. No word of a lie, if you are with a group of 3-4, this would be the perfect meal. I went with another person and we both had the same exact meal and couldn't even finish em and had to bring it home. Overall, it's something you can have once in a while. My only downfall about the fish was the batter was on the heavy side. Chips(fries) was freshly cut and fried, isn't the frozen/premade fries which is a nice touch. It went well with the old fashion ketchup bottle they provided.

Our favourite Fish & Chips place has lost it Mark, we ordered Halibut & Chips 2-1 which we normally do. This time we received both Dried out Halibut and Potato skins (supposed to be chips)in light of us asking the order young lady not to overcook them. Very disappointed with the $45 meal, we have shared your business with many of our friends as the Go to place for Halibut & Chips. We now feel insulted and will refrain to help promote you business. The young lady answering the phone may need some phone etiquette when speaking to customers. We try to support the small business with COVID but if you can't deliver and yet demand a premium, you have lost our business. Bad news travels fast.... Yours in disappointment and dissatisfaction. As you settle yourself into Sea Witch Fish & Chips, you'll be able to smell the rich aromas of the food they are cooking openly. I ordered the Haddock Fish & Chips. It only took around 10 minutes for them to serve me my order and they were kinda busy. My whole plate looked gorgeous and it tasted delicious. The fries are thick and the haddock was fried to perfection. The haddock given was a big enough size for me. Eat in moderation, you'll be able to savor each bite more. It's a good thing I didn't order the Witch's Brew (Chowder) because it filled me up and I didn't eat anything the whole day. I believe I made the correct choice choosing Haddock over Halibut because I was certainly pleased with the Haddock, it was wonderful. The service staff were very friendly and checked up on me regularly. They noticed I drank all of my water before I did and filled it up after. Btw washrooms are located downstairs. Overall, Sea Witch Fish & Chips is my favorite Fish & Chips joint.

They fried this and served it!

$80 and we left hungry. Fish and chips are a fav in our clan. We hail from Seattle and Alki Spud is the world's gold standard on this amazing category of "street cuisine". Just wait until you're in a city that understands this and don't visit Sea Witch. The fish was cut too thick to fry properly and then someone who clearly hates fish, and possibly people, fried it entirely incorrectly. It separated from the the enormous amount of batter applied, almost immediately. This might have been lucky - it revealed that the fish inside was old and hard and had been retrieved from its home in the cooler where it surely sat with no protection for some time. It was hard and chewy and frankly, frying and serving it, was simply inexcusable. No one who saw this piece of fish had any business serving it. This is what they think of their customers. We were a party of 4. My 3 compatriots had slightly better luck or were just hungrier, and I didn't want to cause a stir. I just ate a few onion rings and called it a day. Those were also super greasy and over battered. When the server finally asked if the meal was ok, it was over and I had eaten nothing. She scolded me. Let me repeat that. She scolded me....for not bringing it to her attention earlier so that more terrible fish could have been prepared for me. I didn't want more fish. Please reread my remarks about the fish inside my fried morass. If you select dry, old, chewy fish to fry....it's going to be super disgusting. Offering to make more of it wouldn't have been helpful. They took my meal off the bill. In the end our bill for 3 people was $78. And they handed us the bill with a completely straight face. This is Canada.....over priced food and a finger wag from the server on the side. Unreal. Just as an aside, I know food. I know how to fry food. And this wasn't it. Do better.

This location does gluten free, so definitely worth looking into if you need to/ are avoiding gluten. I wasn't craving something so deep fried so I got the shrimp po-boy. The fish and chips my bf ordered were delicious. Good fry, the fries tasted good, and the vinegar coselaw was good. The po boy wasn't as great. The shrimp were cooked beautifully but the bun was cut completely open, so you get the top bread and bottom bread separated. It was impossible to eat. As soon as I picked up the roll, the structural integrity failed and all my "stuffings" fell onto the plate. It was no fun eating with the fork and knife. Flavours were good though. The creamy coselaw was not my cup of tea. It was very mayo-y, which was a bit difficult for me to enjoy. I think it needed a little something citrus to brighten it up. I also was looking forward to my brussel sprouts, which were unfortunately forgotten and I never ended up getting them. By the end, it wasn't on my bill either so I think they just kept forgetting about them. They were definitely available though because someone at our table ordered them to-go. Overall, service was friendly. If you're in the area and looking for some fish and chips to hit the spot, this might be the place for you.
