One of my weekly trips here to get my Halibut and chips. Small little joint but love the attention I get everytime I go in. They have a bunch of lunch specials on the front window but I go for the tried and true Fish and Chips with plenty of good malted vinegar with a ice cold coke... When I was eating I was watching her get a fresh hallibut out and start cutting into the steaks, cannot be any fresher than that! Did I mention they have freshly cut french fries (gravy and poutine option are available)

Okay, I am conflicted here. Yes, the haddock fish fillets were HUGE. One slice went a long way. Everything was well fried, hot, crunch and delicious. The fries and onion rings were well-portioned. The pricing was cheaper than many places. What is the conflict? It is that the food is way oilier than most places I have been to. I had heart burn afterwards. My best suggestion is to not over order. An one-piece fish & fries combo can really fill you up. Overall, food 3 stars. Overall value, 3.5 stars

The owner is very nice & friendly. I've tried many fish & chip place, rarely have thin layer of breaded with fish. Very good value cuz 2 big fish, I recommend fries eat with gravy sauce, they run on seasonal sale and have delivery option. Definitely worth for a try,

I use to eat here over 25 years ago! I'm amazed the shop still exist. The current owner was surprised I ate there so long ago. The pricing is similar to other fish and chips in the city. I do not believe she was expecting any business at 3pm on New Year's eve, but she fired up the deep fryer and cook up some really good halibut and fries. And it's worth the 25 years wait! It's very tasty, and the fries are awesome. Ok, it is a hole in the wall kind of place, but it's best not to look inside the kitchen, it is not the cleanest I am afraid. Wow wow wow wow!!!! I live around the neighbourhood and just found out about this place. And I…read morenever knew about this till I walked around my neighbourhood looking for food one night with my family. The decor is bland and again, these mom and pop shops aren't known for their decors. We are here for the food. I ordered a fish and chip and it came out fresh and piping hot. Not too burnt but very crispy. The boss lady came by to check in on us and it's nice to connect with small businesses around the corner in the neighbourhood. Her service is personable and just friendly.

Not a bad fish and chips spot. It's actually pretty good. I…read moreordered the halibut and it was nice and tender, white and the batter was nice and light and crispy. I would have liked the fries to be hand cut. I think they were frozen but to each restaurant their own. The price was very reasonable for a halibut fish and chips. The service was amazing. The 2 waitress that served me were very fast and efficient. Which a 25% tip was deserving. The only down side was the decor and ambiance. The inside and furnishings were a bit on the old and used too much side. I would recommend they do some renovations to spruce the place up. I would also recommend all yelpers and patrons to try this spot as the halibut fish and chips are worth the visit and money. Side note: I didn't try any of the other fishes like cod and haddock so no comment on those.

I heard about this place on the radio for a long time and decided to catch up with a friend here…read moreand check this place out. Small quaint place tucked away in a small plaza in a neighborhood side street with promises of offering traditional British fare. Pleanty of parking in the plaza. First thought inside was a tad dated but a cute neighborhood joint . Menu offered a number of British classics like mushy peas and meat pies.. but I came for the fish and chips. Cool thing you can choose you fish, halibut, haddock and Cod. I chose the combo meal with gave 2 big pieces of battered fish, chips and 2 sides and I chose the mushy peas and coleslaw (when in Rome lol). I thought the fish was done perfectly and chips were crispy on the outside and tender. I enjoyed it here, the price was reasonable I thought and our server was friendly. I would recommend this place if you are craving decent fish and chips.

I will NEVER EVER come back to this place again. After 2…read morehorrible experiences coming here. There are no more chances. First off their fish and chips is only second rate. I only come to this place as a back up to "Duckworths" and "Olde Yorke". They are very close by and worth it to go to these places instead. That is where I'll be taking my fish and chips business. Because they are 10 times better in quality and taste. 1st bad experience: I came here about a month ago and I checked their website for their hours as I had to drive 50 minutes to get there. Once I got there they had posted a paper sign that they were gone fishing and closed for a week or two. Now, I know everybody deserves a break or vacation. I'm not mad about that BUT they should notify their paying customers, especially on their website. That is where they failed. 2nd bad experience: so I still came back (ugh) recently because I was in the area. This time I called to make sure they are open. I proceeded to order a superb fillet of Haddock as it is their first menu item. The lady at the desk said ok halibut. I said no the haddock. I had to go on my phone and show her the menu item. Fine, I then proceeded to order a steak pie. I said cooked and she said do you want to cook it at home? I told her NO I want to eat it right away. OMG. I also ordered a small onion rings. This is after literally 4 minutes of ordering just 3 menu items. I mean the lady spoke English so there was no language barrier. She was just, how do you say politely "unintelligent". I thought whatever, maybe it'll be ready in 5-10 minutes. THEN The order taker passes it onto another waitress, it took her (I'm not joking) literally 3 minutes to explain superb haddock fillet and steak pie. Then she asks me anything else. I was completely exasperated, I told her " I ALSO ORDERED ONION RINGS" OMFG. This lady is "UNINTELLIGENT" OMFG I just left And Took my business to "Olde Yorke Fish and chips". Where I'll be taking my business from now on. I am NEVER coming back here again And If you want a decent Fish and chips for the food and experience. Go to Duckworths at Main and Danforth Or Olde Yorke Fish and Chips on Laird and Eglington.

Really cool fishing boat theme. Super friendly and quick…read moreservice. Went during lunch on a Friday and the place was pretty empty. Probably a total of four tables being served including myself. Seafood platter $15.95 - comes with two different fish I think, scallops and shrimps with a side of rice, potatoes and veggies. The veggies were steamed and seemed like the ones you get frozen. The carrots texture was like rubber. The fish were grilled and drenched in a buttery garlic flavour. I don't find the fish that fresh as some pieces had a fishy flavour. The potatoes were in the shape of balls and a bit smaller than ping pong balls. They tasted good topped with tartar sauce. Halibut special$16.95 - This was not on the menu but located on a board at the back of the restaurant. You get the same rice, potatoes and veggies mentioned above but you also have a choice of the soup of the day or salad which you can get from their salad bar. I went with the soup of the day which was beef barley soup. It was really flavourful and had rice shaped noodles with some beef chunks. It went well with the complementary bread. Being a seafood restaurant I was really expecting more from the fish but it fell below expectations.

Antos Restaurant is the very best Middle Eastern cuisine you can find here or anywhere else…read more The restaurant itself is unassuming from the outside, but do yourself a huge favour - grab some people you love, pack them in a car, and surprise them with the most soul-feeding meal you'll ever enjoy together. Anto - who manages, serves, and cooks - is a powerhouse of a chef. We got the Anto selection, a large plate of varied skewers which comes with hummus, garlic paste, salad, rice, Middle Eastern pickles, and a tomato based flatbread to scoop it all into. Easily enough for 4 people. It only takes a bite of the sliced cucumber pickle to know you're in excellent hands. Everything Anto puts on his tables are the highest quality, best prepared, most lovingly made versions of what they are. The skewers are succulent, all grilled to perfection so that you can taste what makes each one uniquely delicious while making it hard to choose a favourite. The rice is powerfully flavourful. The garlic paste is light and fluffy with a deep garlic flavour that makes everything it touches pop. The hummus is smooth, without losing any of the freshness of the chickpeas. And the bread - with it's tomato spread and parsley - is the perfect bow to bind it all together, a thin carb with just the right note of acidity to keep you eating until the massive amount of food you thought you could never fish is all gone. Anto himself is loving, generous, and passionate. He's a good soul with an unbeatable talent, and I look forward to enjoying more of his food and company. I wasn't wise enough to take a picture before I ate, but let the empty plates in the picture tell their own story. Come here. Thank you, Anto, for sharing your exquisite food with us.

From the decor on the walls to the high quality tiles there was some legit funding put into this small place. Walking in we were greeted by Anto, who was sitting by himself browsing channels on his television. He quickly sat us down and went over the menu with us, which has no descriptions or pictures. We picked the chicken dishes and ordered some coffee, which turned out to be authentic Turkish style served in beautiful cups and saucers. Packs a punch, too. Anto explained he has two restaurants back home in Armenia and he's also an actor and singer. He reminded me of Peter Stormare from Prison Break. Anyway, he explains how he prepares everything so it pleases the eyes, nose, and tastebuds and he wasn't kidding. The dish was beautiful. From the arrangement to the small details in the food itself (I could eat the roasted jalapeño on its own and be satisfied). Each aspect of the dish was special on its own so eating each part of it was like having several culinary journeys. Anto was also kind enough to give us complimentary hummus and babaganoush. Both were amazing in their presentation and subtle but on point flavour profiles. I wanted to try the tabouli but unfortunately he was out of parsley and it would be a 45 minute wait for the delivery. I will be going back just to try it, to be honest. The meal was so good we ended up ordering two different dishes to go to share with family. The beef cube dish is prepared to perfection and I'd recommend that if you're not into chicken. Everything he prepares is done with fresh ingredients, years of experience, and careful consideration. I absolutely can not recommend this restaurant enough.
