They get a one star because they do actually call you to tell you they will be late. I scheduled the appointment online. It was pretty easy. I got an uneasy feeling when I was told they would be there between 8AM and 12 AM. I moved everything out of the way. I rented a hotel room so I could take the pets there so they would be out of the way. I waited and waited and waited.... I received a call at 11:30 AM. I answered it and none was on the line. I called back to find out who it was. Hey it was Stanley Steamer. She told me they were running late and wouldn't be there until 1 PM. I had a appointment at 2PM. I tried to reschedule for Sunday. Oh they don't work on Sunday. I told her I would call her back. I did the work myself. It was easier. You may think I am being harsh. My wife scheduled the same crew a month ago and told them they would need a portable unit since we live in an apartment and the apartment complex won't let us run the hose through the window. They showed up an hour late no portable unit so this is not the first time. They did leave a flyer both times saying they were sorry. I will never use them again. read more

When I made my appointment two weeks ago for cleaning, I specifically asked if they could clean my two non synthetic fiber area rugs (rayon/cotton blend and a 100% cotton rug). I was told absolutely they could. The technician came today and said he was a Lead Tech and really knew carpets and wouldn't be able to clean those. Turns out the one synthetic rug I had couldn't be cleaned because I then didn't reach the minimum. So I had prepared my house (read moved all furniture of the rugs AND moved the nursery rug downstairs to be cleaned) to have three area rugs cleaned today, and I have zero clean rugs. To say I am angry is an understatement. I understand that the rugs are hard to clean. I had been told no several times before, so I knew to ask about these specifically. I'm angry that I was told they could be cleaned and then when the time came, I was told that was wrong info. The technician said that "corporate will tell you what you want to hear, not the correct information". Wow! I get my rugs cleaned each time we move, and we move a lot. I will not be asking Stanley Steemer to clean anything in the future because I have lost trust in this company. read more

We called Stanley Steemer two weeks ago to get our carpets cleaned for the first time in many years. We didn't have a lot of hope, we've got a 16 year old dog, and we had some serious pet issues. I could not have been more pleased, they did a great job, they were extremely professional and our carpets look amazing! I contacted Stanley Steemer and made arrangements on line to have my carpets cleaned. I was given a 5-hour window for service 12 noon to 5 pm. I figured I could call on day of service and get a tighter time slot. I did not hear from anyone at all, so I called about 1 pm just to confirm my service for that day. Service was confirmed and same 12- 5 pm. After 3 pm, I called again and was told, service later from 4-5 pm. Service person shows up at 5:15, but tells me his machine is broken. He could try and do job, but power wire had shorted out, and he could try and have someone come later. He said he would inform office and they would reach out to me for alternate service. It's now late the following evening, and no word from Stanley Steemer. I have service now with another provider with a 1-hour window. Minus 10 for Customer service for Stanley Steemer. The other servicer (Oxi-Fresh Carpet Clean) called 30 minutes before job to confirm, arrived at the appointed time, and completed the job satisfactory. Still have not heard from Stanley Steemer, so just wanted to save you all some Frustration! read more

This is our second time using Stanley steamer. We have been very happy both times. They have always been on time and very professional. This time we had two Oriental rugs cleaned as well. I was pleased that they were able to clean the rugs in my home and they did not have to take them. They did a great job cleaning them. when they were finished with the house the carpets looked great. I also liked how they discussed what they were using on the carpets and let me know they were safe for my kids. The two gentleman, named Gary and Joshua, who cleaned my carpets were very friendly. Had them scheduled to come out between 9a and noon. Finally showed up at 11:30 just to tell me one of my rooms exceeding the max sq ft by 15 sq ft. They wanted to charge me an extra $55 for that area. They wouldn't take the 15 sq ft from another room. An entire day wasted that I could have rented a carpet cleaner and done the work myself for $50 total! Don't waste your time unless you want them trying to sell you extras, add one and raising the initial price once they arrrive. A whole day of my time wasted and we moved everything out of the rooms by 9am waiting on them. I called to complain and they basically don't care. read more

The guy that came to clean my carpet didn't have a welcoming personality that should've been my first sign to turned him away from the door - and I told him I had an inspection that I need to pass that I needed the stains out the carpet. Even though I'm getting whole carpet cleaned I showed him specifically what I needed done and if they felt like they couldn't get the stains out they should have said something before I just wasted my money because they didn't remove the stain out the carpet. Now the carpet was clean but I needed the stain out to pass inspection. I wouldn't recommend them to no one and I won't call them ever again. read more

I've been debating about how to review my experience with Stanley Steemer for awhile now. They were friendly on the phone, accommodating with the schedule and provided reminder calls as well as follow up calls. The workers were on time and friendly. Here is where it is challenging to give them a rating. We hired them to steam clean our tile floors, namely to get the grout clean again and uniform, and then to seal it. They scrubbed and cleaned my small kitchen and two small bathrooms. I noticed that while the floors were wet, there were some spots that still looked dark and dingy. They explained that was because that section of the floor was still wet whereas the other part of the floor was dry. I mentioned that it didn't seem that way to me and to please try cleaning it again before sealing the floors. They scrubbed some spots so much that the grout cracked in a few places. Still, the grout didn't look clean and they said it would look fine when all was said and done. They dried the floors with heaters and then applied a sealant. The next day, the grout still did not look uniform in color so I called the company. They were all too happy to send the workers back out to try to clean it up again which was great customer service and I'm pleased about that. However, the grout never did look uniform - meaning the grout was white/whitish in some places, gray in other places, tan in other places and dark brown in other places. I asked about them applying a color sealant so that the grout would look uniform but they told me that my grout lines were too shallow and it likely would not last very long. They also explained that the grout wasn't coming clean because of the type of grout that was used. After I gently washed the floors once with soap and water, it seemed that the sealant was gone and the floors went right back to looking dark and dingy. I've never hired anyone else to clean my floors so I don't know if it's Stanley Steemer's cleaning process that isn't working well or if I would have had the same result with another company. I spent $300 on the floor cleaning and the result definitely wasn't worth the cost. read more

Dan, the branch manager of this location, is the most thoughtless and unprofessional man I've encountered in my life. He gave me all this lip service about correcting an erroneous charge, then never did. He billed two separate credit cards for the same one-time service, told me lots of nonsense about how it happened and how he was refunding one of them, then never did. I had to jump through eternal hoops at Steemer HQ to get it refunded. Meantime, Dan doesn't answer his phone or return a call. He's lucky I didn't file a police report for the double billing. read more

Called to get an estimate on cleaning bamboo floors. Phone call went great, and set an appointment to have an estimate. We was given a timeframe of 9am-12pm with a courtesy call to say they were on their way. No call, and arrived at 12:20 PM. When asked, he was not aware of what we were getting an estimate on. After pointing out our concerns and asked what their recommendation was, we was told to call another floor guy that specializes in bamboo. All in all he was on the premises for a total of 3 minutes. read more

We hired Stanley Steamer to clean our carpets before putting our house on the market. They tried to upsell us before they even saw the floors. after we rejected the upsell, they did the worst job on our carpets I've ever seen. no spots were removed, no dirt was removed. it was as if they did the job with no detergent and simply wet the rugs. when I questioned them, they told me there was nothing they could do and that the carpets were permanently stained. the next day I had a local company to come in and look at the carpets. they were actually joking and laughing about the terrible job Stanley did. I hired the local company, and they got out 90% of the dirt and stains. Stanley steamer is horrible. it was money thrown out the window. I will NEVER deal with them again. read more

I called SS to get a quote and several days later they showed up to clean carpet in 2 rooms and grout in 3 rooms. The guys that came, Mike and Rodney, were on time, very professional,very friendly and they did a great job! I had some problem stains from having 2 dogs for 7 years and the results were much better than I expected. I assumed they would look better but was actually amazed! These 2 guys went out of their way to explain everything to me and when we were done they even shoiwed me how their sysytem works. They were never in a hurry and actually cared about what I thought regarding the results. They both work out of the Rosedale Office on Yellow Brick road and I would highly recommend them if you have any flooring needs. They were great and I will certainly use them again!! read more

I had some stains on my 2 wool area rugs. This was the reason I called Stanley Steemer. I used a different company last time and thought I would give SS a chance. Stains are still there. I am going back to my old company. SS cleaned the carpets ok, but the rugs - I don't think they even tried to use any kind of stain remover. After they left some of the stains looked as new as they were never touched. read more

I am very pleased and was amazed at the results. We get a very clean house and carpets are in great condition and what I thought was clean. After the crew cleaned the carpets, the floors looked new. Wasn't impressed. The two young technicians didn't seem interested in cleaning. One was more interested in trying to sell the add-ons which I don't need and the other one I had to have him go back to the doorways because he was afraid to go to the end of them. I have very mixed feelings about Stanley Steemer of Baltimore. The web pricing was bogus. After they showed up they wanted more than seven hundred dollars to do a job quoted for under three hundred. I did agree the basement area was significantly larger than an average room. On the other hand, the house was totally unfurnished. The tech just laughed when I said they would save time because there was no furniture to move. Because we needed the job done I told them they could do the job for $500 or leave. After agreeing to that they did the job and charged us $540. They basement rug cleaning was very well done. It was very dirty and they got all of the stains out. The bedroom rugs were all pretty new and turned out fine. If the quote was honored and the crew was not rude and condescending I would have given them five stars. There have to be more upstanding competent rug cleaners out there. read more
