I paid $700 for pidgeon poop removal on my balcony. The before after photos I saw in the sales pitch before doing this showed a pristine balcony after. However after service my balcony still had tons of stains. They claimed that more birds must have come in the 3 days after my service which was not true. I was at a business trip when the service took place so did not see the result for 3 days later but I am sure no birds have been here since. Completely ineffective. Been here 4 times in the past three weeks and accomplished exactly nothing. Every time they say they sealed our entries in the exact same areas and 2 days later there are still entries. Mouse issue has gotten worse and not at all better. There are so many traps in here and they aren't going for any of them. The last guy who came wouldn't shut his mouth gaslighting me with his BS and damaged every things he moved even after I told him to tell me what he needs moved and "I" would move it. I had to stop his yapping telling him repeatedly I had a meeting to get him to finally leave 10 minutes after he was done. The previous couple of guys were nice but also completely ineffective. Additionally every one of them has left chunks of what they call barbed steel wool on the floor like trash. 0/10 do not recommend read more

The worst. The owner frequently is rude. His exterminators NEVER come to our building when they say they will, usually arriving about two hours early. When residents miss their appointments because of Standard's mistake, the owner denies it and insists that we pay for the untimely visit. We use this company to service our UES apartment for mice in the walls and the occasional cockroach. This specific review is for Anthony, a tech nicknamed "Dog". He has gone above and beyond from our first service all throughout until our most recent service. In all the years living in NYC dealing with pest control management we have never encountered such a superior tech like Anthony. He has no idea I am writing this but is outstanding for the reasons below: *Cleanliness: We never have to tell him to take his shoes off (other techs do not), he does this on his own. He has respect for our home. *Patience: He is extremely kind and understanding with our very old and rambunctious chihuahua that leaps to bite him 5x per appointment. *Experience: He explains what traps he sets, how they should be maintained and for what reasons. *Knowledge: His experience in the industry is apparent. Dog always takes time to answer my 50 questions from the mice in our walls to the cockroach in our closets. I never feel rushed or overlooked. *Professionalism: His manners go a long way. He asks permission to service certain areas. Ex: "May I open your closet?" "Do you mind if I look in your cabinet?" I have literally seen him crouched over in a tiny dark space using a flashlight and he STILL has a smile on his face! All in all, Dog's above & beyond service is exemplary and should be recognized. My company retained Standard Pest Management several years ago. We were loyal clients for over 3 years. As a bar/lounge we open in the evening, and have always held the same hours. As a result, Standard was well aware that we open later in the day and therefore, any appointments would have to happen after 3 pm. Suddenly, they canceled our service due to our afternoon opening time. Really disheartening to see how they dropped us as a client without warning. You don't stay in business for 93 years unless you're exceptional at both. My antenna is up for businesses who are obsessed by the sale as opposed to treating customers as people in need of a trustworthy service. They were there the minute promised, were super pleasant to deal with, explained every step of the process, and did a great job installing netting that doesn't obstruct the view. We have had great past experiences with Standard Pest Management so I am sad to say that we will no longer be using them. We have had bed bugs multiple times and Standard was great getting rid of them so when we got them again we gave them a call. The man we spoke with was incredibly rude and condescending. We needed our landlord to sign off on payment which she did and tried confirming with Standard by phone. They told us she never called and mocked us. When she called again they did the same to her. These are extremely stressful times and getting bed bugs during a health pandemic you would think the company would be kind and empathetic. Absolutely ineffective. They must use water and raid to exterminate bed bugs because the problem only seemed to get worse after their visits. They came a total of 4 times and did nothing. My landlord finally had enough of these guys an went with some who dealt with the problem with one full treatment an the problem has since not returned. If you're a homeowner or landlord thinking of paying for their services I would advise against it. You'll only end up paying someone else to finally fix the problem. read more

The ants have returned!! So I had to call Standard again to pester them to come fix this. Christine (the lady who booked my appointment for me last time the ants hounded my house) was very nice and sounded puzzled/concerned that the ants had returned, but nonethless had someone come by quickly. This 2nd batch of ants seemed stronger than the 1st (and also invaded my bathroom as well as my kitchen this time), so I had to call Standard a few more times to report that the treatments didn't seem to be working (across a period of 1-2 months). But each time, Christine was still very nice (I was expecting her to be annoyed at one point because I had to call them so much this time around, but she never lost her cool) and patient and even had 1 of her managers speak to me to assure me that they will fix this. This 2nd ant army finally did go away after a few more months. Yay!! Hopefully they'll stay away! Ironically, after all this, I wound up having to move, from Bayside to Astoria (not because of the ants, my lease was up and I moved in with my boyfriend). I guess if I ever need to call them again, at least I'll be geographically closer to their office haha. read more

Unprofessional, crooks that call them self pest control and I still have bedbugs. When I first spoke to them they were professional, hence I chose them for the job. Their first job seemed to run smooth. But there second round of extermination, was almost nonexistant. They only strayed half the apartment and left for lunch early; not coming back. When I called the manager, they gave me a hard time, protecting his workers. Only reason they sent the guy in again, was becasue I paid by credit card. These guys were great. I am a business owner and home owner. This company came to my warehouse to take care of a rat problem that we were having and they did a great job. No more rats and the guy that came was even cute! After they did such a great job in my warehouse, I have Standard come and take care of the roach problem in the basement of my house. I've really hesitated about posting this review, but I think people should be aware of the pitfalls of this service. I had some bug bites that looked like bedbugs, so I called Standard Pest for a canine inspection. Having read a bit online, I was aware that it's important to get a visual confirmation of any canine positives, and I asked Standard Pest whether the canine team would do a visual confirmation, and I was told they would. The canine teams came out, and one handler and one dog inspected my place first. The dog had a positive "hit" on a plastic bin under my bed. I asked the handler whether she would visually confirm, and she said that she didn't do that, and that I had to call "the company." The second handler came up and immediately told me that the first handler had told her where the first dog had alerted for bedbugs. I was a bit surprised because the whole point of having two dogs and two handlers is to confirm -- if one tells the other, then its possible to consciously, or subconsciously push the dog to alert in the same place. And the second dog did alert. But again, no visual confirmation. The company sent me a report, and was ready to have me sign up for some pretty involved treatment, even though no one had shown me a bedbug. When I asked about visual confirmation, I was offered a visual inspection...for another fee. I contacted my building management, and they told me that they would send our building's exterminator out to take a look, and advised me not to sign up for any treatment without having someone show me a bug. The building exterminator searched my apartment and didn't find any sign of bedbugs, though he saw a couple of carpet beetles and advised me not to take any further action. Since then, I haven't been bitten, and I haven't seen any bugs, and it's been 3 months. I'm glad I didn't pursue this further, but I really went through a tough time after the false positive from the dogs at Standard Pest. I couldn't sleep for weeks, and kept feeling an itching sensation. As anyone who has actually been through a bedbug scare can attest, it's really scary, and can be very stressful -- especially when you start to think about the work of trying to get rid of them. People who call an exterminator for bedbugs are vulnerable, and I just felt that the service I received was careless at best. I know that canine inspections aren't infallible, but that's now how they're marketed, and having the inspection not include a visual confirmation is just plain irresponsible. For that alone, I can't recommend Standard Pest. But, even more than that, if you decide to get a canine inspection, make sure they actually show you a bug or a sign of a bug. A good exterminator should be able to do that and not make it an additional charge to a canine inspection. read more

Literally reinstated a long-dead account just to write this review. Found a bed bug on my sheets and had these guys come in. Their inspector was super nice but he found nothing and told me it must have been a single bed bug that hitched a ride in...which seemed unlikely but he was the expert, right? Kept getting random bites over the next few weeks, and I figured it's summer, maybe it's mosquitoes or something? Then I found another 2 bedbugs on successive nights and called them to complain they had missed the infestation. They said maybe I should buy a canine inspection in that case, or do another visual inspection, but "maybe you brought those in in the last few weeks, a lot can happen in a few weeks; either way, we're not gonna come out there for free," at which point I explained that I found it ridiculous to pay them twice for not doing their job right the first time, and he hung up. read more

We paid for them to come and inspect and find the hole for our mouse problem. He took one quick look around, plugged one hole and told us 100% that was the only problem. Less than a week later, the mice are back. We called to have them come back and do the job we had paid them $175 to do (inspect and mouse proof the apartment) it was like pulling teeth to get them to come back, which if they did their job right the first time they wouldn't have had to. He came back, same shoddy job, told us there was nothing to worry about, mice are back again. He wouldn't even look in the bedrooms saying "mice don't come from there" We have since discovered that is the root of the problem. Lazy, half-assed work. read more

I had a bed bug problem and needed Vikane/fumigation treatment for certain electronics and a cello that couldn't be sprayed with rubbing alcohol or put in the dryer. The headline? Standard is as good as it gets! My wife and I had a very specialized problem: not bugs or vermin, but a balcony that was "invaded" by pigeons, who would generously leave their droppings everywhere -- on railings, furniture, walls, light fixtures -- you name it. The balcony was one of the great pleasures of our condo, but its gross condition made it impossible for us to use. After trying a number of home remedies (gels, spikes, sprays, reflective tape and streamers) a desperate internet search brought us to Standard, and introduced us to a possible solution that we'd never considered: namely enclosing the area in netting (not a screen) that would keep our feathered friends out without obstructing the ocean view or cool breezes. Josh and Standard's friendly, professional staff (thank you, Kitty) were most patient as I peppered them with follow up questions and requests for photos of the type of material they intended to use. Finally we bit the bullet and committed to the work. Enter "Miki" - the ultimate professional who was to handle the installation as well as the cleaning of the "gifts" from the pigeons and the sticky gel we'd used in our do-it-yourself efforts. The cleanup alone represented a significant portion of what needed to be done. (Aside from everything else, Miki contacted us as he headed our way and then showed up on time, as promised. This was most welcome, which you'll appreciate it you've ever been delayed or stood up completely by a scheduled worker's visit) I tried to stay out of his way, but "spied" on him just a little as he went about his work. It was a pleasure to see how he carefully and thoroughly approached the task. Apart from being a truly skilled professional, Mickey was good-natured, friendly and an all-around class act. About three hours later, the job was complete. What's amazing about the netting is that our worst fears WERE NOT realized - namely that we'd somehow compromise our view, as might have been the case with a screen. In fact, it may be some sort of optical illusion, but it's almost impossible to see the netting is there unless you look for it very closely. So my wife and I are once again prepared to take full advantage of the view and the breeze from our clean and pigeon-free balcony -- once we buy new furniture and flooring to replace the dangerously-fouled items we had to toss out. Just yesterday, I woke up at 4:00 am itching from the dreaded "three bites", the hallmark of the bed bug scourge. Having recently traveled, I instantly assumed that I had brought home the pests with me and was in for a very involved and stressful extermination procedure. In the am hours I duly researched reputable bed bug exterminators on the web and found Standard Pest Management which I called at 9:30am. I was in a bit of a state at that point and Evvie and Christine were extraordinarily kind about listening to my story and helping me assess my options of having a trained dog or human that would be able to detect bugs or eggs in my bedroom. I opted for the dog (because they can sniff out eggs) as my first choice and was able to get an appointment immediately for the next day. The dog and handler came early (very good for anyone who has work to do) and conducted very thorough search of my apartment, mercifully assuring me that nary a bug or egg were to be found. However, after they left, I found another bite on my neck, so I immediately called Standard Pest Management back. Once again they were the soul of patience with my anxiety and heard me out. I decided to have a human take a look and Standard send me Singh - a wonderful man who is also kind, patient and thorough just a few hours later! He didn't find anything either, but did advise me to vacuum everything thoroughly and consider that my beloved cat who sleeps on the bed, may have brought me a flea. Hmmmm. The net, net is that Standard Pest control has given me better service than I could have imagined in the shortest time frame I could conceived, for a reasonable price. The people at Standard are super friendly and incredibly helpful. I came home the other day and found a bunch of tiny bugs near my window. I went to Standard and they gave me a glue trap to try and catch a few to bring in to show them. After bringing them in they had their etymologist check it out and called me back to let me know what kind of bug it was and what I could do. The funny thing I, I didn't even need to have Standard come to my house. But they were incredibly helpful in just identifying the issue and recommending how to take care of it since it wasn't as bad as I thought. These guys are GREAT. I have a mouse problem and went with another exterminator first. They did some work, put traps out, it worked for a while. But when the problem came back and I called... they would not return my calls. My neighbor recommended these guys... even on their first trip the quality was noticeably different. The Technician worked so hard! He MOVED my appliances out of the way to find hard reaching holes and really plugged them up. But what sets then apart is that I called back when it was obvious from 'activity' that the problem was still there. They said to give it a week, which I did. Then they sent the technician BACK at no cost and he did find one last small hole that he plugged up. I have lived so long with mice that I didn't think it was possible to solve the problem but they did!! I am so grateful! And they accept Amex!! woo hoo. Of course, bed bugs are the trickiest bastards you can deal with, what with laying eggs, hiding in cracks, not feeding for 18 months only to scare you after all that time as if to say... we're baaaaack!!! I hired these guys at Esquire exterminators, based out of brooklyn, and they were incredibly UNHELPFUL, and dismissed my questions quickly, and weren't even thorough with my furniture or anything... It was a quick spray top and bottom, and then bombs around my one-bedroom. I still got bit every night, and even had to escape to my dad's place in jersey for two days. I hired Standard Pest Management after, and man are they thorough... not only did he go through every crack in the house, but also had me remove the electric socket covers to spray inside, then flipped over my couches to get through every single inch of fabric, and removed the legs to spray inside there too. I offered the guy a seat at first (hot day and in need of a cold glass of agua), and he refused to take a seat until EVERYTHING was treated... He noticed some fecal stains on my bed frame, and I told him I would remove it immediately. He insisted on treating it anyway, just in case they spread during the move downstairs. FOUR HOURS!! The small 1-BR I have in Astoria got treated top to bottom... Although I apologized for hovering over his shoulder at moments (just curiosity really), he insisted "no, please watch what I do, I'll explain everything, and ask me as many questions as you want. We're here to educate you with your problem too." Not only that, but he reminded me that it's not my fault (even though I brought 2nd hand furniture in...) and that I should not feel like I did something wrong. What a pleasure to talk to him... Fell asleep on my couch that night, no bites!!! Fell asleep with my boyfriend on the bed the next night... no bites!!!! PS... the guy's name is Dan, and he will make sure you feel safe and comfortable to chill in your bedbug-free place after a thorough treatment. It is always disconcerting when one discovers there are mice in one's home. However, Tony from Standard Pest Management put our mind at ease with his professionalism, knowledge and systematic approach to solving the problem. Not only did he set up traps in key areas to catch the pests already present, but also emphasized prevention of further infestation by blocking all possible points of entry for new pests. We received a lot of advice about how to exclude and protect from other critters, cockroaches etc and how to disinfect affected areas. In summary, the approach by Tony was comprehensive, thorough and covered all aspects of the problem. To be sure, he also checked another apartment where no mice had been detected and closed all gaps through which any pests could enter. It is highly likely that this is the reason that this apartment has not been affected by mice despite the fact that all other apartments surrounding it have been. We hired Standard Pest Management to help us with some mice visitors that were making their way into the kitchens of our 3 family home. The gentlemen who came was very nice and took his time to find every crack and crevice he could where pests might enter the home on every floor. He either filled the hole himself or let us know if it would need to be handled with heavier duty equipment for holes larger than 3inches wide.
