Our lawn is looking significantly better now that Jose and his team have started working on it.

Looking at their reviews it would seem that they do excellent work with hardscaping. For my small 2000 sq ft sod installation, I would not recommend them and I classify my project as a $4700 + tip + extra expenses, fail. Their estimate was in the middle of the 4 I got but their reviews and the fact that they were local to me is why I contracted. They killed off my existing lawn that got fried from the heat of 2022 and a patio installation. When they came to remove the lawn, May 2023 and begin the installation, they did not bring the proper equipment (sod cutter) to remove the entire existing lawn. What they brought only removed a few inches but left the base and roots intact. While watching from the window, they actually began to install new sod over the existing sod. Really!!! So once we lost our minds over that, the workers had to use shovels to pry up the remaining sod and they were upset because it was very very hot that day. My estimate said that they would put down Top Soil. Once again, they began to lay sod without topsoil. At this time I am really questioning this decision to work with them. After spazzing out again, they brought a truck of top soil and began dusting the ground. And this is where my problems today began. New sod should have a 3 or 4 in layer of top soil but my lawn did not receive that. They really did the least in this regard. They actually laid the sod very well in my back yard but in the front which slopes, there were gaps and they did not use staples. So, having a new lawn, I fired my old landscaper and hired a new one. I spent $1200 to have my irrigation heads replaced for the new sod. At the end of June I began seeing issues with the lawn and my landscaper said that there was not enough topsoil used in the installation. That's not all folks. This lawn has weed pressure that I have not seen in 30 years of maintaining a lawn. It is full of Quack grass and Nutsedge and I'm having weed treatments. Every morning when I look outside, I want to cry. After having various projects done this year with varied results and based upon my expectations, my key take away is, DO YOUR RESEARCH on all projects TO THE POINT THAT YOU ARE ALMOST A PROFESSIONAL IN THAT AREA so that you can monitor your project in real time and hold a company accountable to the job that you are paying for. Lastly, I emailed Chopper 3 weeks ago and asked if they would, as a courtesy come and give me their opinion of what is going on with my lawn and to date, they have not responded.
