I stumbled upon Jay Flem on Yelp, and I'm so glad I did. It's open seating, so I grabbed a table in the middle, and the Jae immediately made me feel taken care of. She handed us physical menus (even though there was a QR code), shared her favorite dishes, and offered drinks with such genuine warmth that it felt like we were regulars. We ordered the fish pasta platter and the red beans and rice plate, and let me tell you every bite was a flavor bomb. The fish was tender, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned. The pasta was creamy, full of Cajun spice, loaded with shrimp, and just addictive. The red beans and rice were soft, hearty, and deeply flavorful, paired with a fresh side salad and four crispy wings. Every item on the plate felt intentional. The food came out piping hot, condiments were offered without even needing to ask, and the garlic bread? A star in its own right. Crunchy, buttery, garlicky heaven. To top it all off, we had the bread pudding, and whew, that dessert took me out. Rich, sweet, and soul-soothing. I'm pretty sure I went into a food coma afterward. I walked in a stranger and left feeling like I had joined a community. Jay Flem is a hidden gem I'll be raving about for a long time. Don't sleep on it.

Chef Terry is a true professional; the attention to detail and depth of flavor here is something you usually only find in high-end city spots. Our server, Ronjae, provided service that was absolutely outstanding. Before we even ordered, he told us we wouldn't need to touch the salt or pepper because the food was 'off the charts' flavorful--and he was 100% right. We ordered the pasta and fish plate. The pasta with the shrimp and crawfish was incredible! I am not usually a big fish person, but this was outstanding--if I could get it prepared that well everywhere, I'd order it every day. And whatever you do, don't skip the bread pudding. It was out of this world! Pro Tip: If you happen to get there on a Thursday, you would be wise to purchase some of Crystal's pralines. They're incredible! It's so rewarding to support a locally owned business operating at this level. Do yourself a favor and go eat here!

This is great place to go! It is kinda off the beaten path and easy to get to depending on traffic…read more More toward the west end near the airport. This restaurant is located in a great location. In a large shopping center. So parking is not an issue. They have plenty of parking that surrounds them. They have bunch of handicapped parking spots in the front with ramp on the right side. They do have a few steps in front for easy access. As you walk in, you are greeted by the staff. They mention that someone will be with us shortly. We went on a Sunday before it got crowded. They said we lucked out. They usually get busy when local churches get out. We quickly paid for our table and advised us we welcome to sit anywhere we like. They said they offer many discounts available. Please ask before paying. We sat at a table near the front of the restaurant and easy access to the buffet. They mainly have large tables with hard wood seats and no padding. The waitress quickly took our drink order. Started out with an Arnold Palmer. Rare that they offer that. I don't know so far that another restaurant that offers this. And an ice water. She mentioned that they offer a small selection of beer? We declined. (Drink responsibly) The first plate was sample plate to get my lay of the land. Unfortunately my first plate was full. I noticed that they offer gumbo. So I had to come back for another plate. No offense, the cup was not enough. I was surprised that they served fried swai not catfish. The cornbread was delicious! Usually they are dry at most places. Maybe they been sitting out so long they dry out. This is not the case with them. The gumbo was seasoned just right. It is only chicken and sausage gumbo. Not seafood. Usually you can tell when it is freshly made. To me, it not only look good but taste great! Unfortunately they did not have ice box cake available. Few of the reviews mentioned to definitely grab a piece. However, they did have freshly made bread pudding and chocolate delight. Both were delicious! I could go on about the food. I digress. They offer free Wi-Fi but is password protected. If you are in the area and want some good food. This place does not disappoint. In my opinion.
