I really had high hopes for this place, until I was thinking about going back tomorrow. That was until I got ready to sit down for lunch and I had tomatoes on my hot sausage po'boy. I called at 10:44am and placed my order, the young lady over the phone stated that my order would be ready in 20mins (no problem). They were bring my order at 11:04am I mean 20mins on the dot. I don't go to until 3pm, however I pick up my food before going because I don't like to always leave. Got ready to eat and my sandwich was loaded with tomatoes. I am highly allergic to them and I asked that they don't be on there. I even had the receipt that says "no tomatoes".

Okay I came in and it was slow. after I put in my order for 2 grilled pork chops with three sides. (Peas, Rice & gravy, and yams) a huge rush came in. The staff is super nice. my food did take about 25 minutes to come out but it was worth the wait. Everything came out piping hot and the crazy part I devoured it all without hot sauce. All the soul food I eat always needs at least a dash of hot sauce but not here. The yams were sweet with a hint of cinnamon coming through, peas were flavorful, and the rice and gravy, well I could just eat that and be happy. the pork chops were seasoned very nicely. overall I got a glimpse of the locals coming in knowing exactly what they wanted and me a satisfied guy happy to jump on his plane and head home.

I was staying at a hotel just south of the airport and was craving some good creole soul food and this place hit the spot. Food is served cafeteria style, but something's are made to order like the fried pork chops. It does take awhile so I recommend calling ahead of time. It was definitely worth the wait. The gumbo was probably my favorite part. Pork chops were crispy and juicy, and the sides were all so filling. I think it was the owner who served me, but she gave me a free piece of cake since it was my first time visiting. Can't wait to go again and try the rest of the menu.

This.is a nice and quaint little soul food restaurant tucked away on the side of Kart and Karry gas station. They have a hot bar and today the meats they had to offer were meatloaf and neck bones. Many of the customers ordered the neck bone plate. I ordered the fried okra and a small cup of gumbo. My food was so good. The fried okra was fried to perfection. The gumbo was super flavorful with a large amount of shrimp, andouille sausage, and chicken. The establishment is clean and the service is great. If you want a down home meal this is the place to come.

The food and customer service was good. I would order from there again. The restaurant is not that big, there wasn't too many tables available for dining in, large groups should consider calling first to find out if they can be accommodated. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

The best soul food while I was in Nola. I encourage all of you to try this hidden spot next to the airport.

I was arriving from Houston on a short trip and had been on the road for several hours and I decided to stop on my way in. It wasn't very crowded so parking was no problem. I was immediately seated and given a menu. I decided on fried catfish which cam with a small corn on the cob, some French bread and additionally coleslaw and potato salad. I had a Moscow mule type drink while I waited. My meal came out nice and hot and I immediately knew I couldn't eat all of this. The fish was crispy and the cold slaw was creamy . The service was excellent and my server even recommended a few dishes before I ordered but I had made up my mind before I sat down. Definitely a place for good seafood and there is a seafood market next door.

We were recommended to try Harbor seafood & oyster bar for oysters and softshell crabs, so I made…read morereservations for a party of 4, and they were ready with plenty of seats when we arrived. Pros: the food was fantastic! Softshell crabs were a bit on the small side, but it's understandably the end of the season. We loved that the batter was good so you could really appreciate them without the batter being overpowering. Their oyster sampler and chargrilled oysters were fantastic. The "crawfish" (large boiled shrimp instead because it's off season) bloody Mary was fantastic. Food came out quickly and portions were awesome. Cons: service needed work (yes, I brought it up while I was there, and the manager seemed very, very confused). Our waitress was very sweet, and checked on us often, but messed up our order several times. She accidentally duplicated one order, but different wait staff (& the young manager? who even splashed soup on one of our diners) brought the food to the table. I mentioned the error the moment they placed the food down. Despite explaining the error, the manager seemed super confused, and asked a couple of times what was wrong, before going to ask the waitress in front of us and pointing at the order paper. She seemed stressed, so we told her we'd keep the incorrect order (seafood platter instead of softshell platter) to not inconvenience her, but mentioned that we'd at least like them to correct one of the sides we really wanted to try (we'd ordered side salad & hush puppies, they gave us potato salad & harbor potatoes). I asked the manager if he could swap the incorrect side for the correct side. He seemed out of it and very confused and asked if we wanted him to take the whole order away, I said no, we just wanted the hush puppies side we originally ordered. He walked away, then came back and asked if we wanted a side of hush puppies and we said yes? (Because we had ordered a meal with hush puppies as our side). He said he'd bring us a side of hush puppies. Waitress comes over and apologizes and says the confusion was that she wrote "hp" for harbor potatoes AND hush puppies (doesn't explain how she mixed up a softshell crab platter with a seafood platter and a salad with ranch for potato salad). When I got the check, she charged us for the incorrect order AND added a side of hush puppies. I didn't ask them to correct the entire incorrect meal, but I asked why they charged us extra for the side they got wrong. The waitress said it's because we kept the incorrect side (I had asked the manager to swap them out, he didn't). She says she'll ask him about it, and I hear them arguing loudly in the back. She comes out upset and says he won't remove it, so she guesses she'll just have to pay for them herself. Just disappointed in how management handled a common food industry error and how they treated the waitress. I'm not sure if anything else was going on that night, but I'm happy to chat with more senior management since I couldn't find an email on their website.

This is an extremely casual place, that is both a seafood market and restaurant. I chose to lunch in. The service is friendly and familiar. I felt just as welcomed as the regulars. The menu is full of tempting selections, but knew a few things I wanted. I started off with a cup of seafood gumbo. After the first bite, I regretted not getting a bowl! Next time! It was rich and flavorful, and was clearly not rushed. Next, I also tried the chicken and andouille gumbo. Also excellent, but just slightly shy of the seafood version. The main portion of the meal was what I came for: the crawfish boil. I asked for spicy, and was informed there was only "just right," and they were correct. Initially, I was surprised that the dish came out warm, but not hot, but that, too, was just right. Oh, and the price! Usually, when you see "market price," you expect to lighten your wallet a bit, but in this case, that meant $5.99 for pound. It's crawfish season, I'm told, but still.... I'm used to paying a lot more. The decor is vintage jazz festival posters. Also, since this Women's History Month, the place is women-owned

HOWEVER, reason minded that you have to give new small businesses a chance to get their money up to do such things, we were willing to give it a try, and was not disappointed. Service was fast and we are picky about taste, so when we indulged ourselves, it was like "okay, Blue Hook"! My husband had the grill fish & shrimp with rice and vegs while I had the shrimp, oyster, and wings. My husband rave and rave about the taste. He said it was on time with just enough kick with the seasoning and the yellow rice was the right choice of side item to go with it. A winner in his book! Myself, went straight to the wings, and me too was singing "winner winner chicken dinner". The taste was throughout the wing; not over fried just right and seasoning without ordering any tossed sauce. It was just plain fried wings! I had fried okra for my side and that too was not over fried and abundant. Now I would say the oystered were over fried for me, i like mines soft, and only forgot to request that at the time of ordering so i can't hold that against them. Then the shrimps, well who can do shrimps wrong, right? They were good, too. Overall, if you in the area, definitely give them a tried and don't pass them by. Your taste buds will thank you and pockets too as the prices were not unreasonable.
