Stopped in for a quick lunch on the way to MSY airport. The location is in an office building and not super obvious. The hostess's and server was super friendly and helped me with the menu. I loved my meal and will definitely come back again!

I was looking for a place for lunch near the New Orleans Airport and this place caught my eye because of all of the good reviews. I just had to check it out for myself. I am SO glad I did! I am obsessed! First of all, it is located very close and convenient to the airport and has plenty of parking and surprisingly a decent amount of seating. The space was very clean and everyone was doing their part to keep the restaurant safe with respect to COVID. Now, I went with my mom and we got there a little later in the day (2pm). They currently close at 3 and were out of some of the items on the menu so I definitely recommend getting there as early as possible. The menu has a great variety and I ended up going with the chicken taquitos. They were delicious and the rice that came with them was absolutely divine!! I could eat it everyday. My mom got their lunch special and I am still SO jealous because it looked incredible and I had major food envy. She couldn't eat it all in one sitting so we had to get her a to-go box. This was my first time trying Nicaraguan food and I was so glad I did. I definitely plan to stop in next time I'm in New Orleans. Literally everything about my experience was perfect. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. They made us feel cared for and appreciated. And this entire experience cost less than $30 for two people before tip! You truly cannot beat this amazing restaurant!

    NolaNica Burger and Fries!!

NolaNica is a welcomed change and now on my list of "go to" places. While located farther than I typically like to travel (on Airline past the airport), it was definitely worth the drive. I was nervous about being able to find the restaurant, but I was easily able to spot it from the road. The interior is small, but very nicely put together. The service was awesome! The guy (possibly the owner) that took my order was great in offering suggestions. He also was happy to answer any questions we had. After ordering, we received our food really quick. I had the NolaNica Burger. OMG! Best burger ever! It was like a flavor explosion in my mouth, with so many textures and moving parts. It came with fries and they were equally good! I don't typically eat burgers, but this burger has defied the odds. I wanted to try the Nacatamal, but they unfortunately had run out. We arrived around 5pm, so Mental Note: Get there earlier next time! The other guest had the taquitos, which came with rice/beans and coleslaw. I loved the coleslaw, but it may take some getting use to for others.

Just outstanding. Everything is very well seasoned. Have been back a couple of times and get something new each time. Haven't been disappointed yet!

Pollo all carbon cabron + cacao drink

Not sure what all the rave is. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish? Food is good but not like how everyone's making it sound. I ordered delivery so cannot comment on anything but the food. It did arrive within around 30 min. Ordered the grilled chicken dish, pollo al carbon cabron. Meat was definitely tender, but also a little pink. Tasted a bit burnt from the grill. Rice and beans was bland. Did not get the Creole corn that was in the description. Got slaw instead and it tastes like spoiled fruits? Plantains were good. I started this review off at 4 stars but the more I'm writing the worse it sounds. Changing it to 3 stars. The cacao drink was amazing. Which makes me want to bring it back to a 4 stars. Serving size is generous.

THIS. PLACE. IS. AMAZING. Staff: extremely nice Food: Bomb, delicious, juicy, fresh I came here when I was nearby, and, boy, am i glad i did. After ordering their grilled pork lunch entree, I was blown away by all the flavors. The plantains, ugh, I'm wishing I could eat them right now because they were soooooo good, a perfect harmony of sweet and salty with that cheese on top. The slaw with the rice and the pork was just fantastic and all the flavors going on were tasty. I would recommend this very highly to anyone out in Kenner, for the food, price (only $12 for a huge plate!), and stellar service.

We were in the New Orleans area last weekend, and decided to try NolaNico for the first time. It's not a large place, and it was pretty packed at lunch time. It looks like they are working to expand into the space right next to them, which should at least double their space, which based on how busy they were and how many "to go" orders were picked up while we were there, is a good thing. The staff were friendly and wanted to make sure that we were happy with our meal. They apologized because there wasn't an empty table, but I told them that we'd just try to "crash" one of the tables with what appeared to be a mother and daughter. She seemed happy that we didn't mind doing that. We asked to share a table with the ladies, and found that they were visiting from out of town as well. It turned out that the women were originally from Nicaragua, so we were able to get their input on the authenticity of the food. We enjoyed We decided to share the Fritanga and a Nacatamal. Everything was fresh made, so service wasn't immediate, but we don't mind waiting a little bit for good food. While we waited, we observed a number of other dishes go by, all of which looked and smelled delicious. Our food arrived, and the Nacatamal is HUGE. Not being sure of what to expect, we cut into it, and found a variety of meats and veggies. Each area of the Nacatamal had a different flavor because of the different items in each area of it. It's not like a regular tamale at all, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. The Fritanga gave us a taste of a wide variety of Nicaraguan foods. Everything was absolutely awesome and cooked to perfection. Our tablemates confirmed that the food was authentic and very well cooked. All in all, we were very pleased and will absolutely try them again when in the area. If you are near the New Orleans airport, it's just down the road and worth a stop!

this is our favorite Nicoaguran places in New Orleans. the portion sizes are monstrous and the prices are amazing. we started the meal with jalapeno yucca fritters that were delicious. fried to the right amount of crisp and impacted with flavour. the chorizo burger was delicious as the fried cheese complimented nicely the meat platter is the best entree. they babe everything from chicharron, steak, fried cheese, beans and plantains! overall this is the place to stop by in Kenner!

NOLA NICA won me over within the first few minutes of my Interaction with them. Personable, friendly, and helpful. Also the burger that I had from there is a must!!! I will be back for several burgers this month alone! Tasty and unique for a burger!

Chicken plate with maduros and Gallo pinto

The reviews speak for themselves. This was a lovely find in Kenner, I only wish they were closer to downtown! My friend and had the chicken plate, pork plate, and a tamale. I personally preferred the chicken because it was super moist! Definitely a 5/5 and highly recommend. My favorite part was the maduros! I LIVE for them. It tasted just like the ones I've had in Costa Rica and Puerto Rico. I might have cried a little inside from joy while eating them, because it is SO hard to find good Latin food here in Nola! However, the food here was definitely authentic, from the crumbles of queso fresco on the maduros to the gallo pinto - yummmm. The tamale was huge! Definitely can feed at least 2 people. It was filled with lots of pork, and the tamale itself was super flavorful and fresh. I would recommend ordering this to share as an appetizer. Overall, I was very impressed with this restaurant. AND the cooks/owners were Latino, so you KNOW it's going to be legit! I'm definitely going to be back! This has to be one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in Nola as of now.

Our drinks! Chocolate/ milk/ cinnamon in one and papaya and orange in the other. Yum!!!

NolaNica is an awesome Nicaraguan restaurant in Kenner. I was in the area with my boyfriend and we were looking for a place to eat that was new (to us). I'm so lucky that my fellow yelpers were sharing the word of NolaNica and that we gave it a shot! We walked in around 2:30 on a Sunday (whoops). I guess I assumed that this place would be busier during the week than on weekends but I was wrong! While there weren't too many other people in the restaurant at the time, they were out of a lot of things I wanted to try because they had been busy before. After finding out what was still available, my boyfriend and I decided on the pollo al carbon carbon, the fritanga, and a side of creamed corn. The people working also convinced me to try 2 of their specialty drinks - one that was chocolatey and milky and one that was papaya and orange (I think). WOW everything was so good! Honestly, we ordered too much food for just 2 people but somehow we almost finished all of it. I highly recommend the fritanga if you are interested in trying a sampler of things: it gives you a variety of meats and rice/ beans, plantains, etc. Each bite was better than the last! I also loved the 2 drinks we got! The staff was very friendly and let us try all of their drink options before we settled on these 2. They were both delicious, refreshing, and paired perfectly with our food! NolaNica was great! While the bill ended up being a little high for 2 people ($41 before tip), the portions were HUGE and the food was really good. I definitely want to go back to NolaNica at some point in the future, since there are so many other dishes I want to try! Food - 5 stars Price - 4 stars Service - 4.5 stars Atmosphere - 3 stars

Another thing I find annoying is they're always trying to get you to buy a bottle of wine. When I saw the special menu on Open Table, it didn't mention alcohol. We tried to substitute the required bottle of wine with mocktails, but that was a no-go. Presentation: 11/10: They make some of the most beautiful drinks and dishes. Every dish is magazine-worthy. Food Ropa Viega--8/10-the meat was chewy, but had a good flavor. The cornbread was ok. Crabmeat Spring Rolls--8/10--these were different, like a crab cake inside of an egg roll. Hanger Steak--7/10--the steak had the texture of roast, and reminded me of my appetizer. The execution, while pretty, didn't align with my expectations.
