Not open? I went to their store 1/2/24. They have winter hours posted on the door but they were still closed at 2:30 pm.

Okay, so many of my Yelp readers know what a total beer geek I am. I write about breweries…read moreconstantly in my reviews. But before I even touched craft beer I was and still am a huge nerd for comic books and acrtion figures. Back when I was very young patience was often demanded out of my parents for my brother and me due to their numerous appointments which is a whole other story as to why that was. So comics were good things to pass by the time while in the waiting room. It also got me into reading too or at least partially. Back then our main choices were Marvel or DC comics and there wasn't really much else to pick from. Occasionally Harvey Comics were around. Those are the comics with Casper The Friendly Ghost and Richie Rich but those got tiresome fast. Eventually getting comics became an obsession and a hobby of mine but collecting DC and Marvel titles at the same time got to be too costly so I decided to drop DC and go with Marvel and that's how it was until the end of high school. College then arrived along with the 1990's and the rise of more independent comic companies and so much more variety than the two comic giant companies of Marvel and DC and this is where I got wind of Dark Horse comics and a few other comic companies at this time. Truth be told I stuck with Marvel still mostly during this decade but my internet would occasionally waver for the other comic companies. I didn't get too interested in Dark Horse Comics until I discovered Hellboy but even then the interest didn't quite solidify but it was getting there. That all changed when I took on the reading project of wanting to read as much of the old Star Wars canon as I could. Marvel had a Star Wars title in the 80's but that license expired and went to Dark Horse. Here the old Marvel stories were reprinted again but in addition a whole bunch of new stories for all of the eras that made up of the old Star Wars canon. It was here where I seriously got hooked on Dark Horse and discovered by reading so many of their Star Wars comics their corporate offices were in the Portland area. So I would need to swing by next time I'm in Portland! But getting back to the Star Wars comics, like any comic series some titles and stories are better than others but a few stories I really enjoyed were their Quinlan Vos storylines, Tales of the Jedi, Dawn of the Jedi era comics and the Dark Empire storylines but I enjoyed many more than that as well. It was when I discovered where the corporate offices were that the pandemic was raising it's mighty head and paying a visit to Portland just didn't seem like a good idea for a while. But finally last February I finally was able to go to Portland and feel safe doing it and went to the offices. Now the first thing to keep in mind is that as far as I can tell there isn't really a place for visitors to go. There is a few Dark Horse signs outside a few buildings in downtown Milwaukee but it looks like you should only attempt entrance if you have an appointment arranged. I saw no shop that was a part of the offices(unlike Fantagraphics in Seattle for example)however there is a comic shop right next door with plenty of comics to browse at. So keep your expectations low on expecting a tour here. In fact if you go through this area on a weekend the offices look closed up tighter than a drum so definitely keep that in mind . Anyway I'm just grateful to have read all those stories Dark Horse printed and reissued on Star Wars. Since that old canon reading project wrapped up(it took three years to do) it seems like I stumble across Dark Horse more and more in my reading choices and that's a very good situation to be in.

As I looked further into the coupon, I found the address and store to send it back to with money still existed. Knowing the worst that could happen would be for me to lose $20, I sent in the coupon with my money, thinking it'll at least spark a couple of good laughs in the store. To my surprise, they sent back my coupon, money AND the Aliens Original Comic Series hardcover book!! I'm super thrilled to have received this and hope to actually visit the store some day.

Not shocked to see they are now out of business…read more Kind of an odd experience. Popped up on a Google search and happened to be a shop I hadn't heard of before, thought I'd check them out. No new issues, at all, that I could see. All back issues. Lots of other memorabilia that was neat to see, most of the vintage stuff was non-comics related. The back issues I looked through were mostly 70s and 80s era. I didn't really catch any key issues. Owner makes a lot of claims about how much inventory he has (must not be in the store), how long he's been in business (weird since I've been living here 30 years and this is the first time I've heard of them), and how he mostly sells to other shops, but other shops are ripping me off (and he ran that line no less than 3 or 4 times while I was looking around.) It's a step above shops that only have in-print graphic novels and Funko-Pops, I guess. Books are well organized and clearly marked unlike some other shops where random boxes are the display of choice. I really can't think of a reason to go back. Excalibur has more back issues, current issues and graphic novels, so does Cosmic Monkey and Cloud 9. Future Dreams has everything, but needs an organizational assistant. Floating World moved to Lloyd Center. Any of these is a better shop.

Comics adventure has been my go to stop for comic con badge pick up for a while, but I've never had…read morethe pleasure to shop around until this week. I had called looking for specific comics ( I seem to call hobby stores with very niche requests) and the gentleman who answered said he had what I was looking for, and more. Here's the catch, I called 5 mins before close and was 6 mins away. He generously said he would be hanging around the shop and it wouldn't be a bother for me to come in late. Pulled in, and he helped me get everything I needed. Not to mention the cost was incredible fair and well below the budget I had placed for myself. Outside of the amazing customer service, the store is incredibly organized, clean and bright. I'm excited to come back when they aren't closed and browse around.

Comic Lover's Haven: Why Comics Adventure Feels Like Home…read more Comics Adventure in the Oak Grove neighborhood of Milwaukie, Oregon is the kind of comic book store that feels like stepping into a friend's living room - if that friend had an amazing comic collection and a genuine, welcoming vibe. The owner is always there, greeting you like you're part of the family and going out of his way to help you find exactly what you need - no attitude, just pure enthusiasm. You'll often see familiar faces around, which adds to that cozy, family-like atmosphere, even if everyone's not actually related. Honestly, it's the kind of place that feels like it should have a couch and some comfy chairs in the corner, but that might be a little too dangerous, because I might never want to leave! Having visited every comic book store in Portland, I can honestly say no other place made me feel this welcomed or was as well-organized. Every time I come in, they have exactly what I'm looking for. And to put it in perspective, I live about 45 minutes outside of Portland, and it's always worth the drive. That's how special Comics Adventure is to me.
