This is a really great bookstore, and I just wish I'd been able to spend more time in it. It's got a pretty good location as well, being 4 or so block from the beach. Seaside is (in my opinion) one of the best beaches on the Oregon coast and lounging with a good book is not a bad way to spend the day. Beach Books is pretty large. It's not a single-genre bookstore, so you'll be able to find something here if you forgot your book! They had a sizable kid's section, which was pretty pleasing. I bet they also have books on local (Oregon coast/northern coast) history as well as general Oregon history. I know we'll visit Seaside again, and I'll have to check what events may be taking place. Parking is slim right near the store, but there are public parking lots nearby since folks wander around all the shops and restaurants in this area. read more

Cute bookshop with a pretty decent selection for how small the store is. The set up is done smart with current popular "booktok" books on a table right when you walk in. I loved the tags with employee recommendations throughout the store. Staff was friendly but not overbearing. This charming two story book shop is a readers delight. The couch upstairs a welcome sight for this older shopper after climbing the stairs. I'm happy to say I found exactly what I was looking for. The staff was kind and not pushy. All subjects covered in a kindly small town energy without the dusty library smell! Big picture windows allow lots of light and a nice view of the sky overhead and neighborhood shops. I will need to stop again soon. read more

I've been to this bookstore a couple of times and it is definitely one of my favorite privately owned bookstores. I work on the coast seasonally and always love coming in. A lot of the books are fresh reads/new-ish releases. Everyone who works there is very nice and friendly. I would say that this is a great alternative to Barnes with slightly less selection, however I have always found what I'm looking for at normal prices. Lots of fiction but they do have almost all genres. Side note: the last time I went they actually had books that Barnes and Noble hadn't carried yet (self published or indie authors)! read more

I love a small town bookstore! This place a lot of the most popular books that you'd expect to see at any bookstore, but also have their own unique vibe to the store. They do close at 4pm on Sundays and 6pm every other day so don't save this place for the end of your day! read more

Are there fiction books you can grab to read on the beach, in the hotel, or in the car? Yes. Are there local books about local topics and local sights and stories? Yes. Are there cute and adorable journals, blank books, and other projects you can pick up? Yes. What about a big old section for kids books where the little ones can come and picks something to keep them occupied? Yes. What about adorable cards? Fun gifts? Yes and yes. I could spend hours and hours in here. I could thumb through the pages of all these books, and I could laugh at the gifts, and I could curate a collection of greeting cards for my own stash. And when I was ready to be done at the bookstore, I for sure would slip next door to the bakery/coffee shop and take my treasure with me, grab a scone, a hot beverage, and sit down by those windows to start reading. read more

Such a cute little shop, and it is attached to the bakery/coffee shop. This gives you some time to be able to get some food and drink and let the kids read and shop (all though they all ask for every book and item ever every 5 seconds...) This is a cool place to stop in especially if you are on a little vacation and want to spoil the people around you without dealing with amazon etc. I am not a huge 'book' guy, as I am sure you can tell from reading my reviews. I will say that I am always impressed with these types of well rounded gift/book shops. I look around and act like I am well read, making 'hmmm' noises and going 'indeed' :) read more

I just love this bookstore to pieces!!!!! Such a warm and charming local business that we need more of here in the Bay Area. They carry newly released books, their recommendations are on point, and although their variety of book selection is not as extensive as Barnes and Noble, there is something down to earth about this place that I am drawn to. Inside the store is a little seating area and a nice display of art upstairs. Next door is a pizza parlor and the waft of freshly baked dough flows through the bookstore ever so homely. Eclectic, there is absolutely some thing for everyone here. That being said unless you are a little probably there is only one thing that you were like in here. I find a store to be extremely expensive more than it needs to be. The staff I'm not sure if it's only that woman is very nice though and they have really interesting magazines like four or five not sure if I will go again or not, But it is worth checking out at least once read more

This book store is absolutely adorable and when you come through the door you'll wonder what smells so good? (that'll come later). Totally charming and the lady there was welcoming & kind. Great bookstore to wander and find your next book or sit for spell to find which one. There's an upstairs which maybe they do small events or book club then you'll look down the windows and see next door. How neighborly that their connected by a shared door with Dough Dough! (that review is after this one). The little extra items throughout the store and cards are a good selection. I have NEVER left Beach Books empty-handed. It's such a cozy, inviting shop in downtown Seaside. I always make it a point to pop in when I'm visiting from Portland. I really appreciate the recommendation tags hanging on many of the books. They've been so helpful to me! The books are carefully curated and there's always a good selection. I love supporting this small, independent bookseller. The employees are always friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. They keep a good selection of quirky, fun gifts, too. Many of my friends have been the recipients of a little treasure from this shop. If I lived closer, I'm sure I'd drop in all the time. Had the pleasure of attending a reading and book signing there, too. It's a great little shop. You won't be disappointed. read more

There are no downsides to this review, so I must give this place a 5-star! Very clean. A friendly lady was helpful when I was searching for a book with my daughter. The gigantic pet cat was lounging on a stool in the front window and was quite friendly. This bookstore did not offer used books, but that's okay because we were looking for a fairly new release. My Darling Husband, of Over 12 + Years, and myself like this Beach Books bookstore. We like to look for Books and Other Things during Our Trips to Seaside, Oregon. During one of Our previous Trips here,... I " Found Waldo ".... hiding on Top of one of the Lower Bookshelves. I took a Picture. It was a " Where's Waldo? " display... I'm not sure if it was in Storage Up there or what. I found some really Interesting Things to Look at on the Counter spaces around the Checkout Desk that is located in the Middle of the Store. There is now a " Kid Corral " Gate at the Front Door, so that the Youngsters don't just " Walk out. " And, I found out that there was, over three years ago... a Store Cat. There were Plenty of Bookmarks for Sale, we did NOT purchase any because we are NOT Short on them at Our Condominium. I purchased a Gift for a friend of mine... it's a Surprise... so I won't List what it is here, yet. I think my friend will think it's Clever and a little Funny, at least I'm HOPING she will. We brought Our Own Reusable Bag with Us to help carry Our Purchases home. read more

We always make this one of our first stops when we come to Seaside - everyone in the family walks away with great books to read during our stay.
