One of the 3 books I bought! :) It was recommended to me by the helpful sales clerk!

Stopped in to this lovely bookstore on our way out of Manzanita this morning. The staff member who helped us was very sweet. She made personalized book suggestions for me, after asking about what some of my favorite books are. I enjoy reading a wide variety of genres of books, but in this case, I was looking for a light, fluffy, frothy, delight of a read (a book dessert, if you will). So the suggestions that were made for me were made with this in mind. I walked out with 3 books, and I am excited to read all 3 of them. The bookstore is cute and it has a thoughtful aesthetic both inside and out. I will add photos to my review in a week or two.

'Hey Dog, You Dog, Good Dog, Wassup dog?' Manzanita is a dog lover's kind of town, so the first thing that caught my eye was the hitching post at the front of the store for your four-legged companions. It was the perfect blend of practicality and whimsy as you enter this small, independent bookstore in a scenic coastal town. I try not to have something in mind when I visit a store like this. I'd rather just let a little luck and fate, or advice from the staff, direct me to my next book. The selection is relatively small, but well chosen. Not hard to walk out with something wonderful to read with the sound of waves in the background.

Lovely beachy local bookstore. Love supporting locally owned businesses with charm. Staff was incredibly helpful and attentive and she carefully helped each person in our party pick out the perfect page turner for their own interests. They are being very careful with Covid and only let 4 people in the store at a time. Enjoyed the low stress search. Outside is equally charming with areas to sit and beautiful flowers and a rest spot for your puppy.

They don't make them like this much more these days.. And it's pretty sad folks. It's all going to the internet. Bookstores are a thing of the past if you don't contribute to them. If you like walking in and catching that new book smell and you like touching the pages and opening the books to catch a glimpse of what you might want to read and if you like being able to go up to a human being and ask them some questions about an author or a story.. you have to buy a book THERE. Don't use them for research only.

LOVE this bookstore. They have handwritten recommendations, which I love.

This sweet little bookstore really touched my heart today. That is so truly unusual. My son saw the…read morebookstore when we were walking around town but we missed the closing time two days in a row. My son loves books and bookstores so we made an effort to get there today. We walked in 5 minutes before closing because I missed that they closed at 4 when I had remembered 5 (my issue). The staff politely let us know it was almost closing time. The staff was thoughtfully helping people with suggestions for different books and were pretty busy as the whole town was hopping. My son picked out a book that he knew he would like and another that he thought maybe was less important and decided on the sure thing. He then realized he didn't have his wallet. That was fine as I was happy to buy the book. When we got to the counter the staff told him about a program that gives books to special young men in memory of a special man who had died, from his family. My son has struggled with social situations and skills because of a developmental disability his whole life and the staff did so well with him and he was so happy with that book. He reassured them that we were happy to buy the book but they let him know about this young man and his family and that they wanted to do this. Honestly so incredibly impactful and sweet. I hope the family of that man is able to know how important their gift is.

The store has an…read moreimpressive collection of books thoughtfully curated and arranged in super helpful categories like "great beach read," which for those of us visiting the coast, sometimes we want an easy, light and entertaining read. I particularly enjoy perusing the large assortment of "staff picks," a great introduction to titles and authors not on my radar. The store has an easy and welcoming flow with shelves along the perimeters and round and rectangular tables in the center with books arranged by certain topics. It's election time so one table dedicated to current and past elected officials. Lots of current titles, gorgeous "coffee table" books with amazing photography, and classics. I always find something or many things here! All Covid precautions being implemented; you must use sanitizer when you enter wearing a mask. And limited number of customers In store. Other than that, it's book store browsing business as usual.

Other items for purchase like cards, bags, buttons, stickers, puzzles, art prints, ad naseum. Very welcoming and inclusive indie bookstore. By coincidence the day before while driving out to Cannon Beach from Depoe Bay, I caught an insightful NPR segment on the radio that discussed the history and future of indie bookstores. One of the panelists had their book on the non fiction shelf while at Bob's Beach Books, The Bookshop by Evan Friss.

Visiting them on a day they were open was my chance to see what they had. Unfortunately I couldn't check in here on Yelp because the cell service is not all that great down here, but I have pictures to prove that I visited. They have like every book and book accessory available, used and new. They are neatly organized by genre, which I truly appreciated. I picked up a novel by Michael Thomas Ford and a thumb thing for reading if I'm reading with one hand (whoever invented this thing is very smart and deserves a medal). I also got my mom a gardening journal as a possible Christmas present. My mom loves to garden so I think she'll love this. My boyfriend is a huge fan of Batman and One Piece and got himself some Batman comics and some One Piece manga books. The lady working the counter and who checked out books out was very nice and welcoming. She was also helping out a few people that needed assistance. With bookstores starting to become a thing of the past, Bob's is doing a great job staying in business and I hope they stay open for a very long time.
