Clerk who I guess was the owner was hiding in her plastic corner. Never came out to assist or ask what I might be looking for. You would have to hand the yardage to her and she cuts it behind her glass/plastic partition. Not a positive nor friendly experience.

It's even more fun to shop now that the Astoria store is open. The owners, Tami and Kurt, are always on hand to answer questions, offer suggestions, and help with tricky knitting problems. They won an award for best new business in Clatsop County for 2019 for good reason. Candy Skein is fast becoming a community hub, where people come not only to shop, but to socialize, knit, crochet, and share what they know about all things fiber. I'd much rather just have mid-to-low regular prices without all the SPECIAL DISCOUNT hullabaloo, but that's not an option, and not the fault of the local store. With that out of the way, they have a reasonably good selection, kind and helpful staff (some of the cutters are pretty gruff, but that's ok with me), and if you can be disciplined about only buying what you need when it's on sale, it's a good local resource. I do wish their art supplies section were better stocked so I could get more of those things when I'm in for fabric purchases, but Dots N Doodles in Astoria is a fantastic place to get paints, etc.

Some even require the red and blue 3D glasses you had growing up! I talked to the proprietor of the business. She and her family make the mugs in their basement and she also does the cool art they hang in the shop. A love that this place is a family business and not one of those mass knockoff places. Prices are a little more but the work is beautiful and unique and made with love and quality. The time that goes into this is clearly a labor of love. I always make it a point to stop in if the store is open and visit and have recommended this place to all my rum punch drinking friends.
