An absolute must-visit if you like board games, card games, or tabletop gaming in any form…read more My friend and I have a tradition that anytime we travel, we hit up a good board game store and grab a small portable game for road trips. The selection here is massive and incredibly well organized, with something for everyone from casual players to serious hobbyists. There's also a big game room and playroom in the back that seemed to have some games and tournaments going on I loved the demo tables -- such a smart way to actually try games before buying -- and the staff were genuinely friendly and knowledgeable without being pushy. It's the kind of store you plan to pop into briefly and end up staying for an hour (almost).

As a non-gamer I am probably a terrible person to be writing a review for Guardian Games but I had…read moresuch a great time here that I can't stop myself from sharing the love. Wandered into the store because I needed to kill some time before my lunch reservation at Paper Bridge. The store is so big, so spacious, and so well organized! There are so many different types of games, puzzles, cards, die, mini figures, etc. I loved wandering around and would get excited when I finally recognized a game I knew. There's a gaming section in the back which seems like such a nice option for people to try games they don't own. Staff were friendly, bathrooms were clean, and prices are absolutely reasonable (so I left with a couple party games).

I want to give a big shout to this shop before it decamps for Beaverton…read more Rune & Board came into Hillsboro at a time when Hillsboro retail didn't cater to anyone under the age of, oh, 55 and certainly didn't address the interests of broad swaths of the city's population. R&B made it clear that not only were there a ton of gamers in the area whose needs weren't being addressed whatsoever, but that a knowledgeable staff and a stable space were all that was needed to give that community a home. Also, to be so inclusive of women that my longtime gamer buddy's wife was stunned when she walked in and was not only one of several women in the building, but the only one not actively buying or playing... that's how you start to need double the space. I'll admit, I don't like seeing this place go and I'm not a fan of the trend I'm seeing. We lost the town's only bookstore to Beaverton. Retro Game Store's gaming club and Gongali also moved from west of 185th to Beaverton. If Hillsboro and Forest Grove can't find the space for businesses like these--the ones that actually build communities, create third spaces, and encourage people here to join in and become part of something--they're going to keep losing both business and interest to Beaverton, Portland, and other places that are generally more encouraging. Thank you for my cherished copy of King of Tokyo, more Warhammer gifts than I likely should've purchased my friend, and all of the hours you set up shop for your regulars and newcomers. You're some of the good guys in Downtown Hillsboro, and the place will be less welcoming in your absence.

This is a wonderful little game shop. I love that they host so many events - I regularly attend…read moretheir D&D Adventures League games and all have been good experiences. I feel welcome and comfortable here. They have a bunch of board games, of course plenty of dice, a whole section for minis, and most importantly very friendly and helpful staff. It can get a bit loud when there are multiple events at the same time but that's the only down-side I can think of. Also worth noting, they are still requiring masks for customers, which makes the in-person gaming easier to attend (especially for those with immuno-compromised loved ones). Much appreciated!
