RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. I was looking at stuffed animal to buy for my grandson. An employee very loudly said, "excuse me" because I guess she thought that I was in her way for her to arrange toys on a nearby shelf. How annoying that customers look at toys to buy! Then the man behind the counter told us to move our stroller out of the store because he has customers that couldn't get through, which was not even true - no body was around. Besides what were we? They have a great sales prevention attitude! We left putting back what we were going to purchase. I'll never be back, it was a surprising, horrible experience. read more

We bought a toy within the last 15 minutes of store hours. We tried to exchange it since it was broken when the store reopened with the bag and receipt still available. The guy was super rude. I get it, it's a tourist spot so you don't really have to be nice to anyone since you won't see them regularly. read more

It's a toy shop for kids, and if you (the owners) have a problem with kids playing with the toys, you are in the wrong business. The staff was so unfriendly, my kid played with a few toys there and we planned to purchase them but the older lady was eye-balling my kid and just scolding him to not play so roughly (once he banged it on the wall as he was turning a corner). I agreed and told my son to take it easy. Then he picked up a parachute toy, he found on the ground. I did not see whether he opened it or not but when I asked him, he said he found it opened and handed it to me (he's four). The same older lady approached us and took the parachute and the container out of my hand and mumbled something like he opened it and was very upset. I believe when it comes to observing situations, my son says what he sees, he was not in trouble, there was no reason to lie. In the end, I put all the toys back and left. I did not like the feeling I got from this place, like the way they treat people. I don't think they like children playing in their store. The toys aren't anything special, they're cheap, plastic toys not precious gold. And as always, its cheaper to buy online. read more

Please don't hound the customers and nag about touching this and that and conclude by saying immature, unprofessional things to them. If you're going to have such a negative attitude about kids in a toy store, then go open a different kind of store. read more

My advice to the owner: don't run a toy store if you don't want kids to touch your toys. I told my three year old he can choose one of the toy cars displayed in their window. He is pretty careful for a 3 year old and as he's holding two different models an employee came up and told us that kids should not touch the toys because they can drop and break. We were there to make a purchase but with such rude employees we left and found something else at another store. read more

Always have to hit up the local toy spots when ever off the beaten path when you have kids... we came in and muddled about, we didn't buy anything but it had a great variety, and was definitely worth the check in. I am always so glad to be a part of a good brick and mortar toy store, my days if toys r us, in toys, and the like were such an experience in like the days of shopping here. customer service was absolutely awful. my friend and i were both followed by a worker right off the bat and then accused of shoplifting by a different worker and we were physically kept from leaving (note that we're minors). my friend offered immediately to pay for what she was accusing us of stealing and when that was refused i offered to let my bag be searched and she refused to accept that solution as well and in the end we ended up having to pay for something that we (and most likely she) knew we didn't steal. we were told that we "weren't welcome there" and that my friend's father must be "so embarrassed". this was all a day after we had spent $100 at the same store. genuinely easiest way to lose several customers read more

Cute toy store with a great selection but the owner was rude to my family and I. They had a play area set up with opened toys that my daughter was playing with so I sat next to her for a few minutes to play with her. The owner came by and kicked us out after about 3 minutes because he said other customers needed to get by (we were in the corner of the store and it was basically empty). I've been going to this store since before. my children were born several times a year to buy fun things. I spend around $50 each visit. Recently I went in with my 7 year old disabled son, and it was the last straw. Multiple times that I've gone in there an employee has made comments about the things my child is doing. Because he is disabled he makes unusual sounds and draws attention. Many times he's asked my child not to touch things that he has not asked my 4 year old daughter and other children not to. My son is in a wagon instead of a wheelchair and this time we were asked to leave because of the wagon. When I described that my son is disabled, the employee said the wagon didn't fit around the shelves and we were blocking people. There was no one else in the store at the time. We have NEVER had this issue at any other business. People everywhere else are genuinely helpful. Save your money for a store that educates their employees against discrimination. read more

Though this store has a decent selection of over-priced toys, the staff have been rude both of the times I have visited. My daughter set a toy on the floor to look at something else and a man working there barked at her to not put toys on the floor, which I understand, but later when we were testing a rolling toy on the floor he barked at us again to not put toys on the floor. Great prices considering its in the heart of a tourist mall. Our last trip (previous to this one) to Seaside involved a lot of rain so we stayed in our hotel mostly, when we ventured out we stopped here and bought some games. We got Uno, Scrabble and some word find books. The kids got some puzzles and brain teasers. The cost is obviously higher than say a department store, but this is a mom n' pop type of store and I say what they charge is fair and what they sale is of great selection. I always stop by when in the mall and let the kids get some interesting toy or puzzle. The people who work there are always very nice as well. When we bought our Uno and Scrabble we didn't have a pen to keep score and they didn't have any plain, non-novelty, pens for sale as I asked. So the lady who rang up our order gave me the pen I used to sign my credit card receipt! read more

Me and my son both love this toy store. I bought myself a 1960s fashion adult coloring book as well as some toys for him. They have a wide range of things and more unique items that you don't see everywhere else. Also its surprisingly reasonably priced, especially for a tourist spot. This is one of my all time favorite toy stores! There are a few things I simply must do when in Seaside. Eat at Norma's, run into the surf, and then quickly run out, buy fudge and taffy at the Buzz on Broadway, put the kids on the little train ride and the carousel, try on hats at the hat shop, then stop in Under the Big Top and find some cool toys! Ahhh, perfect day complete! Under the Big Top is filled floor to ceiling with incredible toys and games. They aren't kidding when they say they are the biggest little toy store...it is jam packed with pure awesomeness. During our last visit we found over a dozen different Mad Libs we'd never seen before. Bought one of those and played it all the way home. That made a one hour drive seem more like a 20 minute drive. Good times! They also have a large selection of Golden Books I have never seen before. Of course they carry some Melissa and Doug toys. But aside from that they have a large selection of toys that are not typically found in other toy shops I have been in. Really unique and very fun stuff!! Most everything is good quality, educational, and very reasonably priced. Here's a brief run down of what I can recall being on the shelf: baby dolls, puzzles, calico critters galore, mini animals, board games, throw back toys from fisher price, Raggedy Ann dolls, kid friendly jewelry, stuffed animals, building blocks, baby toys, sticker books, and costumes ...I am sure I missed a few dozen things! read more

Great toy shop in a brilliant location. Lots of unique and hard to find toys, games, and novelties. We love to wander around and see all of the cool offerings and scout out some cool items for my first role as the "World's Coolest Uncle". Really nice book selection that offers fun for all ages. One of the best selection of Folkmani's Puppets too. Very high quality and cool variety. Games, magic tricks, gag gifts, stuffed animals, educational toys, activity and craft kits, puzzles, and a whole lot more. Most of these items are not seen in the chain stores like Fred Meyer, Target, or Walmart. It is cool to see some of the toys and games that are from back in the day as well. Prices are moderate, but quite fair considering the location and selection of harder to find items. Employees are not the most attentive in the world, and just tend to stand there staring off into space or texting unless you engage them. Sadly typical for Seaside. Minimum wage = Minimum Effort. This little toy shop is a jewel in the lovable mish-mosh of tourist traps that is downtown Seaside. Great balance of science and construction toys interspersed with puppets and craft kits. Perfect place to pick up gifts for the kids (or kids at heart) in your life. read more

Hands down the best toy store in all of Seaside. They have everything you could possibly want. Wind-ups, stuffed animals, art, sand toys, science toys, gag/magic toys. Everything was a fair price and the lady working the counter is so kind and friendly. I love spending money here. read more

Can I just say ditto to everyone else's five star reviews? This store is packed full of cool and reasonably priced toys. How does it beat every toy store in my hometown of Seattle hands-down? If you were a local you could go in and just pick up something every time that isn't just clutter in your house, but something imagination-based play or crafty or arty that is super interesting and that doesn't break the bank. We always get a few things there when we visit. Marbles, and fashion art drawing books, little stuffies, those sweet French fairies. Buyers at Red Balloon Company, and yes, even and maybe especially you Top Ten, you of mega floor space and perhaps the most popular of the non-toys r us toy stores here---I still walk out of there empty-handed and uninspired and even a little annoyed at how many disgruntled employees make their way in with the truly nice people who work there, I'm looking at you--you should go take a look at this wonderful store and take some notes. Sorry for the sidelined comments. It is frustrating Seaside is so far, so small, and has so awesome a toy store and Seattle is so big, and the toy stores just. aren't. as good! It could have so easily been a tourist trap, as Under the Big Top is right next to a sweet little carousel in the heart of town, and instead it's just the best toy store ever! read more
