FWC is on the edge of Chinatown

I only went inside of one retailer in Chinatown and it was here. The staff was welcoming coming in and going out. They have ample inventory of new mainstream and indie comics, which makes this a cool LCS (local comic shop). I saw the dollar bins in the back too with old back issues at discounts, so there might be diamonds in the rough there, but it could be like finding a needle in a haystack too, but if you have the time to look through the inventory it could be fun and rewarding. If they relocated to a better area, I'd imagine this place could really thrive, or rather, if the area they're in, improved this place is representative of the type of good business that should reside in the area, as it's well kept, organized and nice.

Visiting Portland, we have had stopped at this comic store several times before flying back home. I seriously don't have comic stores like this in my hometown. Great staff, very knowledgeable and kind enough to offer us help whenever needed. First stop here was the good ol' dollar book shelves located in the back. They have a wide variety of anime goodies. They sold rare art books by studio ghibli which made me excited. I bought a manga by Junji Ito here, I seriously can't even find these books at a Barnes & Noble. Love, love, this place. I will come back here when I visit my dreamland Portland again.

Quirky, fun, hip. They carry a lot of independent comic books.

This is a good place to look for back issues from the mainstream because they do a 5-comic bundle for about $5.

Not shocked to see they are now out of business…read more Kind of an odd experience. Popped up on a Google search and happened to be a shop I hadn't heard of before, thought I'd check them out. No new issues, at all, that I could see. All back issues. Lots of other memorabilia that was neat to see, most of the vintage stuff was non-comics related. The back issues I looked through were mostly 70s and 80s era. I didn't really catch any key issues. Owner makes a lot of claims about how much inventory he has (must not be in the store), how long he's been in business (weird since I've been living here 30 years and this is the first time I've heard of them), and how he mostly sells to other shops, but other shops are ripping me off (and he ran that line no less than 3 or 4 times while I was looking around.) It's a step above shops that only have in-print graphic novels and Funko-Pops, I guess. Books are well organized and clearly marked unlike some other shops where random boxes are the display of choice. I really can't think of a reason to go back. Excalibur has more back issues, current issues and graphic novels, so does Cosmic Monkey and Cloud 9. Future Dreams has everything, but needs an organizational assistant. Floating World moved to Lloyd Center. Any of these is a better shop.

Went in there to see if they had any special Pokémon cards. The guy there immediately told us to go…read moreto Fred Meyer. Didn't even give us a moment to say what we were looking for. he smokes in his shop so everything smells like cigarettes and what fun for the asthma.
