I had my hair balayaged + trimmed recently by Danae (on insta @hairbydanaem) and I LOVE how it turned out. Here are the deets: 1. I hadn't trimmed my hair in over a year, YIKES! 2. I hadn't colored it in over 2 years, Ohh yeaaa! 3. My goals: I wanted to keep my natural color, but add some depth throughout without having to dye the whole thing or do straight-up highlights (helps to save some $dough$) Danae suggested balayage and since I had already creeped a bunch of her work on her insta account, I knew she was an expert!! I love the ladies at Stages Salon. They're a friendly, talented bunch. Good customer service. Lots of product to choose from and I've found it to be priced lower than Ulta! There is a cute boutique feel with clothing, jewelry, candles, and bags. I don't use the nail or aesthetician Services they have there. But those ladies are always busy too. I always get compliments on my hair and several of the ladies at my work go to the salon too. read more

3years ago I my husband passed away and one of the women there named Megan denied seeing me when I was lost due to my grief and only had being there once before I was lost. When I called for help with directions (I was one min away said maps) she told the receptionist to reschedule me. I was only 5mins late!!!She knew I had my husband's funeral the next day but she still refused. I would never go there. Today has been a week since my daughter got her hair done by the famous, favorite hairdresser, Danae. My daughter drove an hour away because according to Yelp, Danae is superb and does a great job. A couple of days before my daughters appointment with Danae, they communicated about what she wanted done to her hair. She wanted blue undertones, which Danae assured her she would be able to provide. My daughter came home in tears and showed me her hair. Instead of blue undertones, she was left with purple and green streaks. I asked her to call Danae back and all she said was she can only refund her $50 of the $170 she paid for. This was very inconsiderate of her. She told my daughter one thing and was not provided the service. VERY, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! I emailed the owner , Beth on Saturday, the day after all the incident happened. No response at all!!!Another UNPROFESSIONAL move from the salon. I'm sure whoever is reading this now will feel the same way as a mom if it happened to your child. Beauticians are Professionals who we trust to look good and take care of our needs. Received a bad haircut, left side of my hair was than the right. Poor accommodations to correct it- they scheduled an appointment a week out and was called back moments later to push it out further. Apparently the hairstylist wasn't available for that time anymore. I was able to get in 10 days later. She did not apologize once instead asked me if my neck was crooked. Stated it was an optical allusion as she continued to cut my hair to straighten the issue. The said maybe it's because I carry my children - ha they're 6 and 4. I'm not carrying my kids lady. You did a bad job and can't own up to it. Not once did she apologize. Bad attitude. Bad service. Bad haircut. Bad experience. And overall bad conversations. By far one of the worst experiences I've had. My hair is so meaningful to me and Danae messed up my hair and had the audacity to only offer a 15% discount of a haircut? When I washed my hair the first time after she did it it it began to turn a green yellow tone I messaged her expressing my concern she read it & didn't reply , she replied until I send her another message the next day pushing it. My hair had never reacted the way it did and it's the worst thing to be ignored when looking for answers. I paid 130$ and tipped her making it 142$ Other hairstylist I spoke too said it was a reaction from the toner. YOU should always do the correct thing. AND I believe I deserved my money back. As a professional you should always take clients concerns seriously not simply ignore. Horrible! Danae assured me she knew how to remove and re install extensions. To make story Short she remove my extensions bead in ones then bleached my roots (which she left it yellow) then after leaving my hair a different shade she attempts to re install my extensions and claims she's not able to do it.... and still charged me for the services. I have proceed with legal action and have gone the extra mile to hire a lawyer and file small claims. Thank god I have everything on VIDEO ! Moral of the story don't promote something you'r not able to do. I should of never betrayed my original hair stylist for someone that would charge me $300. read more

I returned to Stages's today for the first time in a couple of years, I live quite away from the shop, so I found another shop a little closer to home. The stylist was fine and met my needs for a small town, unfortunately this person moved out of state, so there I was without someone to trust with my hair cuts and color. I tried another stylist in the same shop, first visit was ok not the best but, I figured I'd give it a shot, it was close and the price was right. I have a lot of hair long and pretty thick, I wanted to try a different style, I took a picture and she said no problem, spun me around started cutting, needless to say I ended up with a chopped up mess,. That's when I decided I would go and see Beth and see if she could salvage this mess. If I could give 10 stars I would. Let me give a little back story first, I have been going to the same girl to do my hair for about 10 years, a few times I went elsewhere but always seemed to go back to her, its safe to say I was comfortable where I was. The last time I had my hair done though I felt like I needed a change, that we were too complacent with "the usual", I wanted a new hairdresser, new personality, new ideas, so when I recently moved to Modesto I knew I wanted to look for a new girl. Problem was, how and where? I checked yelp all the time read hundreds of reviews, I would find a salon I thought I liked but always had a negative gut feeling. I don't have many blonde friends so it was hard to find someone to ask. Finally I came across Stages, I went to their website and read all their brief bios. I came across Holly, whom I met years ago (long story short she's an ex bf's relative) so I messaged her and made an appointment. It did make it easier that I knew her a little or was familiar with her prior to my appointment, however I never have seen her work personally so I was still nervous switching. Immediately she made me feel comfortable, I gave her some details about my hair such as; some pieces would be paneled and some weaved, that I had breakage bad and that she would see some sections where foils had slipped before. She assured me she would fix it to make it all even. I showed her my picture of the color blonde I was looking for, even though I am blonde I have a hard time keeping it from turning yellow, so I wanted a straight platinum without frying my hair. She did two colors throughout my hair, let me sit 15 minutes, my hair takes color easily so I wasn't worried, then washed my hair. Best part... NO BREAKAGE. She then toned my hair then sat my down to cut it. This is where she really confirmed that I made the best decision in switching. She took a picture of the back of my hair to explain to me from breakage and possibly how it was cut prior it wasn't straight it was like a V in the back. I told her go ahead and cut it, I need it healthy and we can start fresh. She could tell I didn't want to get rid of all my length as it took me forever to grow it to where it was, so she said she would do her best and not cut off too much. She dried it then cut it dry so she could see where all the dead ends were easier. I am so pleased, in fact I am extremely happy. It pays sometimes to take a chance and I am so thankful I did. I recommend this salon to anyone, the girls were all nice, and I especially recommend Holly to anyone. read more

They've relocated since my last Yelp, into a really nice new building at the corner of Kiernan and McHenry, and out of that crappy little shopping center they used to be in. Ok so I was so compelled to write a review about my great hair cut I got from Stylist Ramee! I had decided to go short back in November and ended up looking like "Dora the explorer" in my opinion. Not exactly the trendy short style I had in mind when deciding to cut my then long locks. Well after months of trying to figure out how to style my no style hair I decided I would give this salon a try do to the other great reviews on yelp. Well thank you YELP! I stumbled across this salon when I was looking for a new hairstylist. It was close to my house so I thought I'd give it a try. The receptionist made me an appointment with Tara for the next day. I absolutely loved what she did to my hair! This was 6 months ago and I won't go to anyone else! My daughter has now started going to Tara as well and she loves how she colors her hair as well. Tara listens to what you want and will give suggestions and recommendations if asked. I never have a hard time getting in with Tara which is perfect with my busy schedule. The only problem I found with the salon is that the receptionist is rarely at her desk to greet people or answer phones. Tara's prices are great as well! read more
