On September 10, just four days after my haircut, I went back to your salon because I didn't like how it looked. You were completely freaking out, asking your receptionist who I was and why I was there instead of simply asking me. Only after I introduced myself ("Filomena, it's Carla from Chile") did your attitude change. Because my English is limited and your Spanish isn't good either, I made sure to write down and translate exactly what I wanted to say so I could explain it politely: "Hi Mena, I called you but you didn't answer. Since I left work early, I came because I had the time. It's not a big deal, I just don't like my haircut because it's flat and I want layers." At first, even though you only wanted to give me a lesson on how to style my hair, I said yes, I wanted your help. But when you started giving opinions about my face shape and telling me you had already done "many" layers, as if to say I didn't need more, that's when I decided to tell you no -- because it's not up to you to decide whether I like my own hair or not. I paid you over $500. And honestly, if after 30+ years in this business you still haven't figured out how to treat your clients with respect, maybe you should ask for a refund on that "experience" -- because clearly three decades haven't been enough for you to learn. I've been to this salon couple times now. Recently I went in and I was disappointed this time. Jenni was the stylist and she was super sweet. The cut I got was not what i wanted. The layers were way too short. The styling of it was very old school tight curls. I didn't like it at all. The worst part of all was the blow drying. The way she was blow drying my hair it was burning my scalp. It was super hot and blowing directly to my scalp and ears it really was painful and wanted to pull away or tell her to stop but she was so sweet so I didn't say a word. I've gotten blow outs before and they're really nice, but not anything like this. When I say I was in pain from the heat I was in pain! I felt very.....I'm not sure how to say it she said my hair was completely dead super loud like I was being judged and then continued to cut a lot of my hair off when she said she was only going to take some off. I didn't stop her bc I knew I really needed it but she never stopped to say is this length okay or is this fine. I had to stop her from time to time to show me. Prices were never discussed or on how much certain services costs. She couldn't really style my hair and just kept going over and over it. This is my third time going to Mena and Co. I like how the salon is always clean and smells wonderful with the aromatherapy they use. I've spoken to several people at the front desk and they are all helpful and welcoming. Fuchsia is amazing!!!! I've had my hair colored/cut twice by her and today came in for a conditioning treatment and blow out.I came to Fuchsia with very dry brittle hair that I had damaged due to years of harsh chemicals/ excessive heat styling etc.. My color is now rich ( along with Aveda products that were recommended) and my hair is so soft again!!! Fuchsia has literally brought my hair back to life!! Not only is she a talented stylist she is incredibly sweet. She never runs out of things to say and can talk about anything. I also love that she is super professional. I've thought a lot about this before posting and at first chose not to as I didn't tell the stylist the issue with my hair but after reflecting for a month decided this would (hopefully) be helpful. Pros: its a nice salon, well-decorated and high-end. I would have zero qualms about paying $55 (plus tip) for a haircut that I was satisfied with. Areas of improvement: the stylist I had (forgot her name, she was blonde) seemed to listen to me but then did the opposite of what I wanted. I told her I was growing my hair out and wanted a trim and long layers. Instead I got a Karen-type haircut with extremely short layers. The part that bothered me the most is that she thinned out my thick hair so much that whenever I go to style it, or even run my fingers through it I can't feel my hair. Every single day has been a struggle to figure out what to do with my hair until it grows back. I genuinely hate how this haircut makes me look and feel. It's been over a month and the damage of the thinning of my hair is so severe that it still makes my hair look so flat. The stylist said it would look cute curled but it's so short that that would be next to impossible. I'm truly broken-hearted over the lack of listening and the stylist doing what she thought would look good versus what I wanted. This may seem dramatic but my hair is very much a part of my identity and this experience has erased that. I've had to resort to putting my hair up every day since because of how it looks. This place appears to give high end, quality haircuts. But, they lack quality, kindness, talent, and respect. When I first went in, the owner started gaslighting me about how I take care of my hair. Then, I took my child in and the owner hit is face because she was going too fast, causing it to turn red and told me he is "sensitive". I brought him in again and this strange lady cut his hair horribly and was touching him by grabbing his face, shoulders etc. Even when I said it's not ok. I noticed his neck had red marks and thought it was an irritation but his neck has scabs from minor cuts made by her clippers. Every time I booked online, I never got the person I booked with and they somehow managed to tell me it was my fault. This place is horrible and I highly recommend not exposing yourself to the unkindness and fakeness of this place. Also, weird vibes too. I kept giving this place chances, thinking it was just the one time but no. We are done with this place!!! read more

I love Aveda products, and highly recommend them. The only reason I won't go here anymore is because the staff is not masking nor are they vaccinated. So, in fact, they are not keeping their clientele safe. Otherwise things are pretty professional. But no masking during a pandemic is a deal breaker for me. I walked into the salon with super thick and heavy hair that almost reached my butt. I was super tired of it and wanted it gone. I showed Ashlee a few reference photos and she did such an amazing job! She was very precise with her work and focused on the little hairs that stuck out at the end. Because the style I chose was angled, she checked, double checked, and triple checked to make sure my hair was even. I highly recommend her for their facials as well! My wedding was on a Sunday, but they were kind enough to open the salon to do my MOH and two flower girls hair as well. I have been trying to find a hairstylist in my area. I wanted a short clean style with a under cut. Do to several disappointing past results I had put off having my hair done for several months. My hair was driving me crazy so after reading the good Yelp reviews I decided to call Mena & Co. A pleasant lady named Kelly answered the phone. I was happily surprised that Kelly was able to get me in the same day. She explained they have four levels of stylists, each level is based on stylist's years of experience, as is the cost. Junior level is the least experienced, cost $38.00. The Master stylist is the most experienced, cost $65.00. I do not recall the other levels however I choose level above junior, cost $45.00 plus taxes $48.00. I was scheduled with a stylist named Darrell for 1:30pm, I arrived a little early. The salon was clean, organized and have natural hair products. After checking in at the desk I was offered tea, water or coffee, very nice. Darrell was on time and pleasant. He immediately introduced himself and got me in the chair. I explained what I wanted and he went to work. While washing and conditioning my hair he explained about the natural products they use, the salon and answered my questions. He wasn't a big talker while he was cutting my hair, I was fine with that, I could see how focused he was cutting my hair. He would explain what and why he was cutting my hair. After he finished he taught me how to blow dry my hair to achieve the style. Additionally, I bought a AVEDA daily hair repair product he had used on me hair. It made my hair feel amazing. I felt so much better when I left. Would I recommend Mena & Co Salon? YES! Would I recommend Darrell? YES! My search for a stylist (artist) is over. Thank you read more

Ive been going here for blowouts for awhile. I love that they have a variety of options. I get the going to the rodeo because I have thick hair and the volume goes down quickly so it looks perfect and full for days afterward. Ive had just about everyone there do my blowouts and theyre all good but Fuschia and Darrell are the best. Darrell is fun and positive and really elevates the energy of the place.
