We went here to celebrate the birthday of my nephew in-law and to watch the Warriors game. My sister made reservation for 6pm in time for the Warriors game at 6:30pm. When we walked in, we were greeted by the General Manager who was "standoffish" and reprimanded us for not specifying the reason why we wanted to be seated where the TV is accessible, upon making a reservation. Since the place was not packed and empty tables were available near the TV, we asked if we could be seated to available tables close to the TV, but was denied. We almost walked out but we did not want to dampen the spirit of the birthday celebrant; hence we were seated at the area with no TV. We were a party of 6 adults and 3 kids and we ordered drinks and steaks. The food was delicious and our server was so friendly and helpful! He even mentioned dishes that were not included in the menu! If not for the "power tripping" General Manager, I could have given this restaurant a 5 star! Really disappointing...photos looked great but the fact that it's a BBQ place and serves things like truffle fries, fish and chips should have been a dead giveaway. The deviled eggs and artichoke dip was bland but edible but the burger, Mac n cheese and prime rib dip was bland and off putting. Mac had a burnt plastic after taste and the prime rib dip looked depressing and somehow tasted worse. We took one bite of everything and couldn't finish it. We didn't say anything to the waiter, we prefer to just pay and leave but when she persisted to ask for the second time if we wanted to take it home I told her "honestly it wasn't very good" she said "oh...okay I'll bring back your check" dropped my card off and said have a nice day. Extremely disappointing experience. When we arrived, we were told that most of the smoked items on the menu were not available. After already ordering, we then watched the table next to us get the exact item we wanted, BBQ ribs. When we asked why they were served ribs after being told they were unavailable, the explanation was that the ribs were just out of the smoker. Despite that, the staff refused to let us swap our order for the ribs or offer any solution. Poor communication, inconsistent service, and zero effort to make it right. For a place that promotes smoked BBQ, not having most of the menu and then serving it to other tables is unacceptable. We won't be back. read more

We had a wonderful dinner at Stagecoach last night. I was surprised by how good the food and service was. Cindy, our server, was so awesome! She was kind, fast and knew the menu well. Cindy also had a great sense of humor and had a good laugh with my husband and I. We both got the ribeye entree (at different temperatures) and it was to our liking. His was medium and mine was medium well. It was a quality cut of meat and so flavorful. My husband really liked the Brussels sprouts, I thought they were good and paired well with the savory mashed potatoes and steak. We also got the guava and prickly pear margaritas, which had a nice sweetness to balance the alcohol. For our starters we got, the double stuffed deviled eggs, which were good but I felt the filling needed a bit more salt, which I added at the table. We walked by their outdoor roaster and happened to see the chef putting the beef ribeye into the unit. That attracted our interest so we booked a dinner there for the 8 of us traveling in the area. The restaurant is pretty big with a sizable bar and TVs all around. Service is supper good and value is definitely there. The salad and deviled egg were very good. The ribeye certainly held up to expectation. If we stopped here I would have giving them a 4 star rating. Unfortunately some of our non beef eaters ordered the pork spareribs which was tough and dry. We had a really enjoyable dinner at Stagecoach in Sedona! We started with the fried mushrooms, which were crispy and delicious--definitely rich, so perfect for sharing. For my main, I went with the smoked chicken and swapped out the asparagus for Brussels sprouts. The dish came topped with a flavorful sauce and ribbed corn, which added a great texture and a little spice. While the chicken was super tasty, it wasn't quite as smoky as I expected. My husband had the bison short ribs, which he loved--the spice level was just right--but the portion was smaller than he anticipated. Luckily for him, he helped me finish off my chicken! The vibe here is relaxed and unpretentious. The service was warm and friendly, with a genuine down-home feel, and we were seated right away--no wait, which was a bonus. We had such high hopes visiting Stagecoach and it wound up quite the rollercoaster ride. Just about an equal amount of highlights and lowlights that I'll describe herein. The restaurant itself is beautiful and clean. A modern, hip, minimalist southwest vibe throughout. All of the staff we encountered were very nice and personable. Drinks were nice with an artful dried lime slice in my wife's marg. I was surprised however that my local Cottonwood craft IPA was served in a Bud Light pint glass. I found that somewhat tacky. Prior to ordering we were provided a lengthy list of items they were "out of" or that we're otherwise unable to order because of the day it was. Unfortunately it included some of the things we had our hearts set on. Including the Bison Short Ribs and Pulled Pork Egg Roll. We spent some time with the menu shifting to Plan B, also considering just going somewhere else. To add insult to injury, Plan B was a bust. We were informed the Wagyu Churrasco Cutlets are "no longer on the menu" despite the fact it was clearly printed on the menus we were holding! We spent 45 minutes to go 3 miles in horrid Sedona traffic to get here so we stuck it out. We all finally settled in on our main dishes. My son started with an order of the Arizona Corn Chowder and he loved it. Beautifully presented and had a nice smoky flavor. He also had the Loaded Gun Board which included a sampling of smoked baby back ribs, pulled pork and andouille sausage. Everything looked and tasted great. Especially the pulled pork which had a nice barky texture and toothsome chew. I had the Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage which was outstanding. I particularly loved the nicely dressed Napa cabbage slaw with its bright flavors. My fries were hot, crispy and tasty. I was surprised though that this sausage dish was not served with any side sauce, like a mustard or BBQ sauce or something like that. My wife ordered the Filet Mignon with Bourbon Compound Butter. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium with a nice amount of pink in the center. The compound butter on the other hand was shocking! Crowning the beef was a huge unmelted disc of what tasted like honey butter. Roughly the size of a small hockey puck. Seemed much more appropriate for cornbread or something. It was as if they topped it with a blob of whipped cream or scoop of vanilla ice cream. I've never experienced anything like that at any of the steakhouses we've dined at across the US or Europe. The poor server was flummoxed and insisted it was not honey butter but it was most definitely sweet which does not pair at all with beef. Maybe there was brown sugar in it, I don't know. I invited her to have the chef/cook taste it. I don't think they did. I ordered a mac & cheese side for the table to share. It was beautifully presented in a hot cast iron skillet. It looked better than it tasted. The funny thing was the server "warned" us it had bacon in it. As if we were somehow offended by bacon LOL. We assured her the more bacon the better. Oddly though there was not a speck of bacon in the entire dish! I don't think they used any salt in the mac & cheese. It was quite bland and became a chore to eat the more we had. In fairness, the restaurant took our feedback to heart and comped the filet mignon dish. Overall an interesting and memorable experience. This is a place where it definitely depends on what you order. There were 5 star dishes alongside 1 star dishes which leads me to an overall 3 star rating for this establishment. read more

For the food I ordered the ribs which were very good and my mom got the pulled pork sandwich which she said was the best she ever had. In terms of ambiance, the decor was nice and they had plenty of TVs for March Madness. Our server was also very good and let us order desert even after closing time. I'm guessing they're short on wait staff because there was no shortage of empty tables. When we got seated the waitress asked all the usual questions, took our order and informed us the kitchen was "really backed up" so it was going to be awhile. She came back several times to inform us again about the kitchen back up. Again, must be shortage of cooks because there just weren't that many people. Luckily, we were with out of town people who we hadn't seen lately so we had plenty to talk about! Finally we got our food. Everything we had ordered was good - as it should be for $$$, right? Although you might think from the name and outside façade, the Stagecoach is very modern inside. My shaved prime rib dip sandwich was perfect. The meat was not too thin as in most places. Being in Sedona I had to order a side of cowboy beans. Yum yum. My wife chose a cheeseburger. You better come hungry because it is huge! Her side of onion rings was delicious and enough to share. Servers were walking around with massive trays of food back and forth from the kitchen to tables not knowing which table the food is for. Our appetizers come out fast, but the server wasn't sure who ordered what. It was fine, but there are more professional ways to ask instead of guessing incorrectly. I really don't expect people to remember my exact order, but they can ask instead of just assuming. The entrees took a longer time. We had to ask the server to clear plates a couple times. We asked for spoons for the soup, but we had to ask again. Dropped in for lunch at the Stagecoach for the first time. I had a pulled pork sandwich with fries. The pork was expertly cooked and flavorful. The dressings were thoughtfully chosen with fried pickels, coleslaw and a BBQ sauce with just the right balance of smokiness and sweetness. Companion had the vege tower. Modest in size, it combined eggplant, carrot, onion, and green vegetables all nicely grilled and stacked. It was accompanied by a savory tomato coulis and balsamic. Flavor was excellent. Note to vegans, it was topped with cheese. Overall the food, service, and ambiance was excellent. All were upscale and cravable. We'd return to Stagecoach soon except for the pricing. The minor issue is a $2 upcharge for BBQ sauce. A charge for extra BBQ sauce at a BBQ restaurant is irritating. The major issue for us is a modest lunch, veggies, sandwich and ice tea cost $60 including tip. Make no mistake, Stagecoach can charge whatever they want or need. After reading several reviews we made reservations through Open Table for a night we were in Sedona. There weren't many diner's when we arrived, but more filtered in throughout the evening. We sat at a booth in the bar and there was not a crowd, which was surprising since the Diamondbacks were playing in the World Series and in Phoenix. We were greeted right away and seated, our server came over to take our drink order and she was very friendly. We started with the Jalapeno-Cheese cornbread and it took awhile to get the table. When our server delivered it, she said not to touch the cast iron skillet as it was very hot. I love piping hot cornbread where the butter melts into the crevices, yeah, that was not this. Our cornbread wasn't hot, the butter didn't melt, so I reached over and tapped the skillet, it wasn't hot either. Our meals took nearly 45 minutes to get out to the table. Mr. B ordered the ribs with fries and coleslaw, I ordered a bowl of the corn chowder. Once we finally got our food, there was no apology for the time it took, and everything was barely warm. The ribs had a bit of smoke flavor, but not what you would expect from the time they tell you they are on the smoker. The fries were cold. My soup was the temperature of a bathtub filled with water for 20 minutes. The corn flavor was nice with a bit of smoke. I didn't get any heat from chiles or chile oil. All in all, cute place, friendly staff, but the temperatures of our food and the length of time it took to get our appetizer and meals was just too long. Found the Stagecoach on Yelp with decent reviews. It was my first time visiting. I had the corn chowder to start which was very good (maybe 7/10) but I'm not sure it was worth $8 for a small bowl. The corn was charred from being roast (excellent move) but I couldn't really taste much heat from the pepper cheese or the infused oil. For my entree, I had the pulled pork sandwich with fries. This is a barbecue restaurant so I wanted to give it a try. Here were the good things about the sandwich: properly sized bun (toasted), nice slaw, pickled onions, and fried pickles. You could taste all of these elements which are often not remarkable on this kind of sandwich. What was disappointing was the pork. They claimed to have smoked it for 18 hours but I did not pick up on much if any smoke flavor. I tried the pork with and without the other condiments but little smoke flavor. They have a working smoker out front but not much flavor was coming through. Sometimes barbecue sauce can help to cover a lack of smoke but this seemed to be omitted even though the menu said it came with bourbon bbq sauce. I'm not sure on this one. Hopefully, management will see this review and either do some quality control checks or maybe find ways to infuse some more smoke into the pork. If they do, this could be a really good sandwich. read more

Hotel recommended this spot for dinner and they were spot on for the food. We made a reservation but it wasn't too busy around 6pm that weekday.
