I hadn't eaten breakfast and was in the neighborhood. I logged on to Yelp to look for the nearest restaurant and given their rating I decided to give them a try. I waited a while for a seating of one which wasn't a problem because I wasn't in any rush. While waiting I'd overheard the owner tell a joke to a patron that involved immigration and his staff which were of Mexican descent. I wasn't offended and don't mind racial jokes if they're said in jest and not meant to be hateful, but as an owner of an establishment it's not a joke you say aloud in front of others who might not find that brand of humor to be funny. I was called upon to be seated and was asked by the owners wife whether I'd preferred a table or a single seater at the window. When I'd chose the table she'd turned her head and gave me a bit of a snarky look. I understand that there were others waiting, but if she left the choice up to me that's her own fault. Also, the table could have easily seated four, but there were only two seats at the table which is why I'd selected it. Once I'd sat down I was promptly waited on by Christina K. and she was very pleasant and attentive. I noticed that all the other waitresses shared her same qualities and attributes with their customers as well. They definitely made up for the discourteous demeanor of the owners. I'd placed my order and it wasn't a very long wait given their busy activity so the kitchen did an excellent job. The breakfast was a little pricey, but it was a decent meal nonetheless. The one thing that spoiled my meal was the table next to me. A small group of three which one of them was loud and she talked more $h!t than a little. Other tables took notice and seemed a bit bothered by her and shook their heads. I tried my best to ignore her, but when she started telling her nephew that if they weren't related that he could, "Get it!", I wanted to asked to be seated elsewhere. She then repeated the story to her waitress when she'd approached the table to ask if everything was to their liking. I felt bad for the kid because he asked her not to repeat herself, but the waitress humored her by hearing her out and brushed it off by smiling and asking the nephew if he was enjoying his food. She handled it correctly because there isn't much she could have said to something like that. Aside from the owners disposition and lack of supervision over it's patrons the quality of service from their waitresses and the output from their kitchen was top notch and earns this establishment 3 stars. My only suggestion would be that the owners take notice and learn from their staff on how to make their patrons feel more comfortable by being more welcoming. read more

The food here is delicious and plentiful. I've been here twice and so far no one has been disappointed by their order. The first time I came, I kept it simple with eggs over medium, hashbrowns, and pancakes on the side. I'm not a huge pancakes for breakfast person, but this place could easily convert me. The pancakes were awesome: light, fluffy, delicious. The second time, I went for the breakfast panini which was huge. I was full after just half of it. There are a ton of things on the menu I want to try (red velvet pancakes!?!) so I see many return trips in my future. I am so glad to finally have a unique and creative breakfast place in the neighborhood! Be warned, this place isn't huge and it does get pretty busy (at least on the weekends). It's a gorgeou space, and service is quick and friendly. My only complaint is that they don't seem to have a good method of seating yet. They seem to seat people in the exact order they checked, which I understand and can appreciate, but I feel like you do need to deviate to make the most of your seating arrangements. Let me explain... Our party of 5 got there about 11:00 on a Sunday morning, and it was very crowded. All of their tables seat 4, they have two large boths that seat 6, and the window front bar that seats 5 (I think) side-by-side. There was a group of 6 seated at two tables pushed together, and one name ahead of us on the list. We assume they would go ahead and seat us at the two tabled pushed together, but rather they separated the tables, seated the party of 3 that was ahead of us on the list, and then offered to squeeze us in at the other table. This wouldn't necessarily be a problem but my boyfriend is 6'3" and my brother is 6'2" and was on crutches. There was no way there would be enough room for the 5 or us. We ended up having to wait for one of the booths to open (which thankfully didn't take too much longer) and they continued to seat other parties at the tables. We ended up waiting just over an hour to be seated. This is still a new business so I'm hoping as time passes they'll get a better feel for efficient seating in their space, but it was definitely an irritation at that time. I definitely recommend this place, but maybe not for parties of more than 4 people. read more

I noticed this place along 95th street one day and made a mental note. Then my Grandma started raving about this place one day, and I finally put my foot down. I had to try it! We came on a Saturday/Sunday morning and there was a wait. The place is more popular than it can handle but I did hear they are expanding the place and that's good to know. We waited for a table and I'm glad we did. The food was delicious! Dan got a breakfast panini that he let me try and I was impressed. The service was awesome. It was a little too hot in there but we always had a full cup of coffee and a friendly server nearby. I ordered a french toast dish and was really happy with it. With a line out the door and several good reviews on yelp, I expected a phenomenal breakfast, but it was simply OK. The staff were super friendly, the place is very trendy, but almost everything on the menu was a repeat of the same breakfast items that I can find at ANY breakfast place. The coffee was ordinary, the omelette was good, and the pancakes were as expected. I wouldn't mind eating here again if I happen to be in the neighborhood, and there is no waiting, but won't go out of my way to try it again. This breakfast lover from the north suburbs has his south side breakfast favorite solidified! I always stop here any time of the day when I am in this neck of the woods. A true blue breakfast and lunch joint. Pancakes and omelette are the real deal and they may have the best hash browns around. Simple potatoes (no onions or other stuff) has brown potatoes that are perfect every time Lots and lots of White Sox fans on this side of town so that's always a bonus. This review isn't based on the food. Because, well, we never got a chance to eat. Arrived at 1030 on a Sunday morning fully expecting a wait. Probably about 15 parties waiting outside, as the place inside is tiny and hot. Was told it would be 30-45 minutes for a party of two. Completely acceptable for a Sunday. Took a walk to Starbucks and came back at 1115 expecting good news. Kid at counter looked at his list to see maybe 6 parties still in front of us. Says 15 more minutes. Those 15 pass by and I took the buzzer in and left. No names had been eliminated in front of us. I stated how long I waited and wouldn't wait any longer. I received an "okay" and I was off on my way. I understand the wait. But I just ask for a reasonable time to wait and the establishment stand behind it. Or admit it'll be longer. That never happened today. The food looked great on Yelp and in person. Would love to have tried it. But I won't be back to wait again. The staff seemed uninterested in clearing tables to get to the next customers. This place clearly does well enough to not need new business. Nor care about serving the customer quickly and effectively. There are plenty of breakfast joints inside a five-mile radius of Stacked. I love the food and the service here. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because they have very few vegetarian options. They have no veggie meat at all, so my only choices here are veggie omelette, skillet or salad. This little breakfast spot on 95th is well worth your time. I walked in as a single and had to wait a bit on account of the popularity of this place. I obviously used Yelp to source this place and it definitely did not disappoint. You will definitely want to order the pancakes, any style, and enjoy the fluffiness that will surely ensue. I ordered a scramble with feta and tomatoes that was simple, fresh, and delicious. My coffee cup was never less than half full and I got service with a smile. In a busy restaurant environment it can be difficult to provide that level of service happily, but these folks did a splendid job. I've got nothing but good things to say about Stacked. This was my first time here and I'm already looking forward to going again. Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning around 9:30am, and I expected to wait. We were quoted 20-30 minutes and were seated about 25 minutes later. This place is much smaller than I had anticipated and there's really nowhere to wait for a table, so keep that in mind. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, MIL had the plain crepes, and my son got the kids pancakes. Everything came out hot, fresh, and fast. The biscuits and gravy were fab. Sausage gave it a bit of a kick and the gravy was flowing. The pancakes were the fluffiest ones I've ever seen. Thankfully my little guy is only 2 so I was able to help him finish them off. Diners next to us ordered the french toast and that's definitely what I plan on ordering next time...if I can convince someone at the table to order the biscuits and gravy again so I can have a bite. Prices were reasonable in my opinion and the service was stellar. The manager/owner even stopped by our table to say hi to my son (in all fairness, he's adorable so I really can't blame her). Definitely a happenin spot for breakfast, and one in which I'm willing to make the drive from New Lenox. read more

FANTASTIC - I would highly recommend STACKED! As someone else mentioned - The Red Velvet French Toast IS TO DIE FOR!!! You think its going to be overly sweet/rich but not at all. You do not need syrup because the filling is a cream cheese swirl that is the PERFECT balance with french toast. My friend had the ham & cheese omelet and it was fluffy & DELICIOUS. Yes, upon arrival at 12noon on a Saturday, we did have to wait appx 15mins but well worth it. Our waitress was Kathy and very friendly, checking back with us a few times to see how we were doing. We did have to wait a bit longer than expected, but the hosted was very friendly and the environment was comfortable so we didn't mind. I ordered the Crabby Benny (eggs benedict with crab cakes), my husband had the Country Skillet and we ordered a full order of red velvet french toast. The Crabby Benny was delicious and fresh; the Country skillet was hearty and didn't stop steaming until the end of our meal; and the Red Velvet French Toast... UNBELIEVABLE! I have no idea how they got these crazy flavorful french toast slices so amazingly fluffy and light, but rich and decadent! I thought about them for the rest of the day! My only complaints would be the size of the restaurant, which is too tiny for the crowd its pulling (which is a good sign!) and that they don't offer half orders on some of their more famous dishes - we would have easily ordered a couple more options if they offered this. The breakfast menu selection is good, and the lunch menu offers a variety of interesting sandwich wraps. There is usually a 15 to 30 minute wait to be seated, due to the small dining room. My wife and I thought it was worth the wait, due to the quality of the food. However, I thought the prices were a little higher than other breakfast restaurants in the area, which is why I gave it 4 stars. For example, $10 dollars for a breakfast special (pancakes, eggs, sausage and bacon) that doesn't include hash browns seemed over priced compared to the local competition. read more

Before I begin. I need to explain why I am giving this place 3 stars. The food here is absolutely delectable. I have never been dissatisfied with any meal I have eaten here. My problem is the wait time. If you've ever been here, you know exactly what I mean. This place is so crowded there are lines of people out the door waiting to be seated. Every time I come here I have never been seated without waiting at least 30 minutes. So if you have somewhere to be in 2 hours, i would highly suggest skipping this place. They need to expand to accommodate the inflow of customers that want to enjoy their delicious skillets, and pancakes and crepes! I was shocked at the disparity between my experience and the high yelp review. Then i noticed that the place has 7 blocked reviews for 5 stars by the owner or his friends. Perhaps another 7 made it through fine. I went here with my wife on a Sunday for brunch and it was pretty packed. We had eggs benedict and French toast with berries and yogurt. If you're trying to eat healthy by substituting ingredient's this is not the place for you. Even things as simple as cottage cheese on the side instead of hash browns are an extra charge. We asked for hollandaise on the side but since this place is not used to any deviations this was forgotten. The French Toast was great but the menu gives you an impression of this being fried with a granola batter whereas it's actually drizzled. There is a delicious item on the menu however. On the backpage you'll find a chilli soup. This is fantastic, the beef is juicy and the onions and cheese are freshly laid out on the side ready for you to mix in. Cute little place with lots of windows, which means a ton of nature light! I was afraid of the wait based on other reviews. But it was shorter than the 30 minutes we were told upon arrival (about 20 minutes). The food was good. Nothing overly spectacular but good. Between three people, we had crabcake Benedict, traditional breakfasts, and the red velvet pancakes. The crabcake was light and flavorful and the red velvet pancakes were tasty. I only had a taste...or three of the pancakes because I didn't order them. I must note that they were not overly sweet like some places. I don't want to eat cake with breakfast, so I really appreciated the fact that they only had a slight sweetness to them. Next time, I will probably order them with my meal or try the french toast. A few things to note: 1) The water is AWFUL! I don't know why it tastes like that but it's not good. 2) The hashbrowns had a funny taste. I'm not quite sure what it was but something was off. 3) I witnessed one of the waitstaff dig in her teeth. To be fair, she did disappear from view immediately, so I'm not sure if she went to wash her hands (Lord, I hope so)! I really need people who deal with food to be cognizant of habits (touching hair, fixing clothes, touching face).
