Service is pretty important for a business that dallies in a market rife with competition. In this department, Stack'd fell flat.
We arrived on the heels of another couple, so when the hostess initially ignored us, I chalked it up to her thinking she'd already helped us out. We were seated outside at one of the tall tables, and our server came to take our orders right away. We needed a minute with the menus. She came back moments later, ready for us to say we'd like an order of cheese curds, one soda and one beer, a bacon, cheese and jalapeno burger, and a German burger. She said the burgers would take awhile because ze German had to be cooked to well done. Not a problem, that's what the beer and cheese curds were for.
She disappeared, and we never heard from her again............
Just kidding. Kind of.
Some other nice lady brought our cheese curds and my husband's soda. No big deal. She commented on the fact that we didn't have a caddie of ketchup, mustard, and other essentials, and assured us she'd bring one. She never did. (Do they have other tables in Narnia or Never Never Land?) She did, however, bring our burgers after us seeing nobody for about 20 minutes. My husband's soda was empty, and I still had no beer. I inquired about it, and had to conjure up the name of my choice from deep in the recesses of my hippocampus, but we got there. She brought it a few minutes later. The burger was ok. It wasn't bad, but it didn't wow me. Hey, Stack'd - maybe make the patties a little thinner and wider, and they won't take forever to cook, huh? I get the whole presentation of a fat, fat slab of ground meat, but sheesh.
Guess what happened next?? Like a one-night-stand that had promised to call the next day, but didn't, our original server slunk up to our table with an apologetic grimace. "Sorry I haven't been able to get back to you guys. How is everything?"
"'How is everything?'??!! We thought you'd died, or gotten lost, or worse - were being held against your own will and forced to watch Nicholas Cage movies with Nickleback playing on repeat in the background for the rest of your life. And that is all you have to say? You have some nerve, server lady." -- is what I thought. What I said was, "Everything's fine," in a chilly you-know-it's-not-fine tone. She excused herself.
My 20 minute beer was on the bill. I had hoped she wouldn't know that I got it.
We won't be back. This was my husband's third visit, and the second time having poor service. read more
