This place is so fun! I came back for the annual Beer Hunt and ate lunch and dinner here. Its classic bar fare but they do it GOOD. My favorite has to be the jumbo pretzel. It's so tasty and makes the perfect app. The burger is also really good! If you're a beer drinking, they have so many options *on tap*. Another notch in their belt is the staff -- they are awesome. Really enjoyed dining and drinking at this venue. Happened to be onsite for a Yelp Elite event at the hotel next door. We stopped in for Happy Hour to pre-game before the event. They had specials for drinks and snacks. We opted to get the $6 Cosmo which were really tasty. Additionally, they had $6 Old Fashions available for HH. I also got the PBR Snack pack for $4 bucks which included PBR tall boy, shot of whiskey and cheese/salami/olive charcuterie stick. The atmosphere here is chill. The workers were friendly and excited to have people dine. They have super large TV and an expansive patio area. We sat both in the booths and the bar (late nite) and service was equally excellent. For food we tried the cheese curds which were perfect and not too much dough on the cheese. They came out sizzling hot and were very crispy deliciousness. Later in the evening, I came back and ordered the Chicken Strip Basket. It was priced at $17 bucks but I had plenty of leftover and could be shared with two people. Such a great spot! Recently I ate there for the first time in awhile, and it was a wonderful experience. Two friends and I came in for lunch during the week and were quickly seated. Their menu has allll the options- if you're a burger person, they got you. Salads? Yep. Pizza? You bet! The list goes on. I went with the turkey club from the 'handhelds' section and ordered it as a wrap. Plentiful, tasty, and I loved the cranberry aioli! Who knew there was such a thing? On Tap is a good lunch/dinner option before events at Fiserv Forum since it's just up the hill to the west of the arena and they were fairly empty on a night in which the Bucks were expecting a large crowd. I ordered the beer battered cheese curds for an appetizer and got mac and cheese topped with chicken tenders for my entree. The cheese curds were great. Clearly homemade and the beer in the batter was subtle. A little greasy, but not too much. The menu said the mac and cheese had a "Wisconsin cheese sauce". Had I thought that meant beer cheese (usually that's indicated), I wouldn't have gotten it. The cheese tasted heavily of beer, which I wasn't a fan of. The tenders on top had a crispy, pleasent tasting breading and helped give me a different flavor to focus on, but I feel like two tenders worth of chicken for $6 is skimpy when the mac and cheese without any add-ons is already $13. This was actually my second visit to On Tap (I don't remember what I had the first time besides the cheese curds). I'll likely return, but won't consider getting the mac and cheese. read more

Stopped by before an event in the area and we had great service, despite prior reviews saying otherwise. My biggest gripe is parking - if you can find a spot, it's generally free after 6pm, but it can get parked up fast on the surrounding streets. I like the neon beer light coloring on the cream brick and the huge bar. Great space and plenty of room for people. Prices aren't terrible considering what other bars in the area charge. Saw the pizza which looked great - will have to try that next time! read more

I was in town and staying at BrewHouse Inn and Suites. I had been to On Tap on the past and loved the pizza. Last night, a Saturday night, we planned our day around ending at On Tap and having a pizza. We arrived at 10:45pm and the bartender informed us that the kitchen was closed. I said, "well, the website mentions the late night pizza menu.". He said "we don't do that anymore.". If you are planning to eat at On Tap at the end of your evening, you may be out of luck, which is unfortunate because the pizza is really good. read more

Fun spot, attached one of my favorite Milwaukee hotels. Definitely earns some points for convenience, and the lunch and apps I had here were pretty good too. You kind of know what you're going to get at a sports bar kind of spot like this, but some fall just below par, some a notch above. This one was a notch above it, IMO. The Turkey Club was really good and I was trying to keep it light and swapped a side of fries for cottage cheese which was good too. Service was really friendly (keeping with the theme of the hotel), and there's a lot of space in here. Later on in the night, during the Beer Hunt event, I tried cheese curds, pretzels, and a few other goodies (so much for keeping it light.) This restaurant stands inside part of the PBR factory. They have a lot of signage and pictures but my favorite was the massive Pabst neon sign hanging on the wall. We ordered food right away and split 12 big chicken wings with half in bbq and the other in buffalo sauce. Both flavors are great, but the buffalo was lightly sauced, which was actually okay with me. For my entree, I ordered a bacon burger with cheese and it was pretty good. The bacon tasted smoky, and the burger patty was thick. I really enjoyed their fries. The best I've had to date this year. My friend had the cheesesteak sandwich but he said the Valveeta was a bit too much for him. Other than that, the bread was great and the meat and veggies were paired perfectly. I tried his cheese mashed potatoes and they were pretty good! Their menu selection is great so definitely try some of their apps. I'd definitely give this place another go. read more

Beautiful pub, with high ceilings, cool decor, located in the center of the brewery district. Enjoyed a delicious cheesesteak on a fresh crusty French roll. BEWARE!!! Changed ownership! We went there last Sunday around 5:30 before the Bryan Adams concert. It wasn't very busy. When we were ready to order we were surprised cuz the menu didn't look like anything we had seen on line. It was just a small one page sheet of paper, front and back. We asked the waiter about it and he said they just changed ownership a couple days ago and the online menu hasn't been updated. So my wife was gonna order the chicken strips which came with one side. She wanted a side salad and the new menu said sides included a side salad. But waiter said no, that's a chicken strip basket and only comes with fries . After all this confusion, we said we'll just split the 1/2 lb smash burger basket (with fries). Our order came out in just a few minutes and included the chicken strip basket. We said we didn't order that. He took it back, set it on the bar and the wait staff proceeded to pick at it. Meanwhile, our smash burger and fries had obviously sat under a heat lamp. The burger was cold and the fries were lukewarm and soggy. The bun must have just left the refrigerator as cold as it was, which made the burger also cold. How can a sports bar not know how to make a good burger?!?! My Miller Lite draught had no head at all and was as flat of a beer as I've ever tasted. Our waiter never came back and checked in on us, but when he did come back with the bill, I told him "u guys have some work to do". His response.....it's fine. We make a lot of money. WOW! With this new ownership, I guess time will tell if that continues. It was awful. But hey, at least the concert was good! read more

Stopped in for drinks since this place was closed the last time I was in town. The spot is beautiful. Horrible service. Bartender didn't greet us or introduce himself, just said "are you having food drinks or both". He never made eye contact or acknowledged us as we ordered, legit was like talking to a wall. What was strange was he asked us about opening a tab took our card and kept it. When we closed out the second bartender said that was strange and wondered if that was a new thing because he said it wasn't necessary. I ordered fish and chips -- 3 large northern cod filets in PBR batter were crispy and flaky. This also came with fries and some tasty apple poppyseed coleslaw. My friend ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and subbed in a green salad. I also had a sangria which was good. Casual bar food but all pretty tasty. They were a bit short staffed so it took a while to get our food and to receive our check. read more

I have been trying to get hare for a while but parking is nonexistent until today because I had a moment of genius, summer fest is going on so maybe I will find parking and I did. The place is really cool with super nigh ceiling's, huge posts, nice bar, nice booths and sectioned off seating areas so it doesn't feel like just a huge room. The exposed brick walls with red neon in my booth was cool. The menu isn't very large with most of the regulars and a couple good sounding sandwiches and drinks. I ordered the spicy blood orange margarita which is Nueve Uno Tequila, Cointreau, blood orange juice, lime cherry jalapeño. First off there was nothing orange or cherry about it but it was good with fresh jalapeño and seeds. I was torn by the milly cheesesteak vs the boss hog so I asked my server her opinion and she said the cheesesteak is very popular but she recommends the boss hog as her favorite of the two so boss hog it is. The boss hog is basically an upscale blt with neuskes pork belly, tomatoes, lettuce, garlic aioli on a Demi baguette with choice of side and I chose frys. My server did a great job and an excellent suggestion. My plate came quick because the place was empty with summer fest going on. OMG my plate looked bomb with a great looking sandwich and thick cut skin on seasoned frys. Thank you because the frys were fresh/hot/cooked to order with a crispy shell and soft center seasoned nicely. The boss hog looked amazing on a beautiful baguette with leaf lettuce and fresh toppings. The Boss hog was delicious with a thick pork belly, garlic aioli and the fresh baguette that had a nice crust and soft center. This is a premium sandwich that someone put some thought into that just works well and I'm so glad that I got to try it. Sometimes the restaurant of the week is just ok but this one was on point. Overall as the restaurant of the week this place had good service, good cocktail and good food so if it wasn't me 5 stars but anyone who follows me knows that 5 stars don't get handed out like the average yelper because it's takes something over and beyond for a 5 star but I would give it 4.5 if I could. Such a weird experience. Came here for the derby day event, which was supposed to be at 1 pm. But it wasn't ready.. we were told to go outside and the bar will be ready soon. Went to the bar and he said it'll be a while. Okay...? We were hungry and went in and sat at the bar. Sat there for 10 minutes without any acknowledgment from the bartender who was literally right in front of us making drinks. I kindly said "excuse me, can we have menus please?" Ugh. This is one of my toughest reviews to write ever. The venue itself is quite nice, and wants to be great. But the service and the food don't live up to the venue. First - The Restaurant Manager - He was quite nice and accommodating - we got there a little before 11 but he was gracious and opened up the place a tad early for us and another couple. Kudos to him. The server did not have English as her native language - and while I get this from a cultural standpoint, it makes it hard when she doesn't understand the menu or the most basic of drinks (a Screwdriver) - I had to explain it was just Vodka and OJ. I have compassion for her, but they should not have had her on her own yet. That was a clear miss. Let's get to the food. I was excited to see a wrap that had "Oven-Dried Tomatoes" in it. I can't stand tomatoes that normally get too wet and slimy and ruin a wrap. So I order the Turkey Club Wrap with thoughts that I have finally found someone/someplace that understands this conundrum - but alas, I got a wrap with normal tomatoes. It was tasty and generous, but it was misleading. Our server missed the lesson on "server eyes" and it took a while to get her attention to get a to-go container and the check. The fries were tasty and the wrap was average. But it wasn't as advertised. Same soggy tomatoes I am used to. And while the manager was present and attentive - they weren't actually managing the server - and she was struggling with 4 tables. Truly a shame with such a beautiful venue. read more
