We were welcomed immediately. The place was decorated with cute 4th festivities. We ordered a dirty Shirley and a Captain and Coke. The waitresses, Avril and Becca, were very friendly and good at their jobs. The food came out hot and delicious. All in all, a great fish fry stop! We made reservations since we heard it gets busy. They had already run out of perch due to shortages, so that was a bummer. They also said the kitchen was backed up but it made sense with how much they were turning out. We were seated and we put in an order for some wings - fried perfectly and juicy. It took a while to get our drinks throughout the night, but our server was very friendly. We got the cod and shrimp at our table. Some of the best cod in the area! Seasoned well, crispy coating, and good sized. The meals also came with choice of potato, rye bread, tartar sauce and coleslaw. We will definitely be back for that cod. We love The Depot! We go often in the middle of the week for a nice chicken dinner or a loaded Kansas City mac. It's quite a small location, so we enjoy going when it's less packed, like mid-week after work. If you are going for the Friday fish fry, expect a wait, only because it is usually quite busy due to its popularity and there are limited tables. The food is always worth the wait! read more

We have always liked the food here but we've been waiting for our food for over 40 minutes. It's a Friday night in WI, but they need to either stop seating people or cut back on the to go orders so that they can serve the people in the restaurant. We were given drink chips for a future visit but I'm not sure that we'll be using them. read more

First of all it is adorable! Small and quaint. The Friday Fish is excellent. You have the option of fried or grilled and even a combo. Its what I would refer to as a good old fashion Wisconsin Fish Fry. I just love the history and the country feel too. Owners are awesome as well as the staff. It is a must try anytime of the year!! I brought my boyfriend for his first visit there a couple of weeks ago and he lives in Chicago. He hands down loved it!! read more

I can't believe I'm writing a review for The Depot before Stephanie H.! She and her mom turned me on to this place and it has been our go to for Friday Fish Fry in Caledonia/Racine. Or, if you're sitting at our table (and many others), a Friday Fish Bake! That's right. The Depot is very well known for their delicious baked cod. Seasoned beautifully, served on a bed of arugula, and a side of red buttery potatoes, this dish brings a bit of sophistication to the neighborhood. There ain't a whole lot goin' on around here except for the train chugging along the tracks every 15 minutes or so, hence the Depot name. Also recommended is the panko breaded perch, macaroni & cheese and possibly one of the fish on special. But overall, that cod bake is the way to go. Every time I've gone, the place is packed with hungry seafood eaters and happy drinkers. I've only come on Friday nights though, so just base this review on that fact. I recommend reservations unless your ok with a 30+ minute wait. read more

Good spot for local step above pub grub. Very friendly staff. We Had the half chicken which was very juicy and moist as well as the pulled pork sandwich with a full order of the Mac n cheese. My hubby and I stopped here on a trip to IKEA. We were hesitant as the place looked pretty small but we were blown away! Saturday nights are they're supper club nights. We got a relish tray and some crackers and cheese to start. I ordered the walleye sandwich and my husband ordered the Kansas city mac n cheese. This is probably one of the best dinners we've had in a long time. The mac n cheese was phenomenal with the bbq pork on top. The flavor was spot on! And my walleye sandwich was delicious, the bun it was on was perfectly toasted and the fish was cooked just right. We will definitely be back to try more of thier food! read more

First time trying out the Depot in Caledonia. Very small dining area, however the food was very good. My grandson had his usual of chicken strips and french fries, my daughter had their Kansas City macaroni and cheese and I had there Wednesday special where you got to pick three sliders and homemade potato chips. My husband and I like coming here for the Friday night fish fry. The grilled cod with parsley potatoes is so yummy! You can also do a 1/2 and 1/2 with fried cod or perch and the grilled cod. It's a small place but they keep things moving along to get people seated, and you can order and eat up at the bar too. Hubby and I went last night for the first time, cute little place inside. We sat at the bar and the food was good. I had chicken tenders, hubby had breaded cod. He said it was good! I wish the bartender, didn't know her name would have been more attentive. We must have been sitting for close to 5 min before she "noticed us" at the end of the bar! I even said you didn't see us? Glad I finally stopped here, as I've driven by many times and thought "What an interesting hole in the wall looking place!" Situated next to a pretty active railroad, hence the name. I'm sure the place has history. The menu is limited, and it only serves food 2 days a week, I believe. Friday is fish, shrimp, and chicken tenders, with the usual sides of fries, cole slaw, rye bread,.. And the unusual options of cottage cheese or parsley buttered potatoes. They also have predictable appetizers, like breaded mushrooms, fried cheese curds, chicken wings, pizza,.. and green beans with parmesan cheese and ranch dressing for dipping? Never saw that before. I had the half and half, which was a choice of 2 out of the 3. 3 pieces of perch, 3 shrimp, 2 cod, (fried or grilled) I went with the perch and shrimp. Both were excellent! I prefer breaded over battered, so this was the place for me. Brother had the 3 piece cod. Drinks included 2 glasses of Alaskan Ale, one iced tea and one coffee. We were talked into the coconut cream pie, as well. Total bill was $41. (Even though I gave 5 stars, I make a better pie crust! ) I'm also a sucker for attractive middle aged waitresses with low cut tops who sit next to you to take your order. ;) A little heads up---CASH ONLY!
