I've been to stacked before and have always loved it! They usually aren't too busy, so it's easy to get a table even on a weekend night. The vibes are pretty chill; but it's more like a bar so you can dress up a tad or not at all and you wouldn't stand out either way. The pretzel buns, fries, jalapeño poppers, and fried pickles are all great! Highly recommend the fried pickles. The only reason I have four stars is cause everytime I've come I think they overcook the burger until it becomes a bit too dry even though I order it medium. There are better burgers in the city, but it's a quick easy place with great sides. read more

We went here because we really wanted a burger. We started out with drinks. They advertise 100+beers but most are canned and I don't even think they hit that number just based on the menu. Drinks were good they had a decent list of ciders and the old fashioned was made well. Now when it comes to food we really enjoyed the cheese curds but the burgers were kind of a let down. They were cooked to our liking but their was no flavor and the bun they used ended up getting soapy because of the grease from the burger. The fries were also kind of disappointing. They weren't super hot when they came out and again no seasoning. I think they would have been better with some type of seasoning. Personally I wouldn't go here again for a burger. I will say our waiter was nice and we got sat right away when we got there. They had a nice outdoor seating section and I don't know how the inside was but everything seemed clean. Hands down my favorite burger place in Milwaukee. I do the build your own and get something new every time. I did a chicken breast with caramelized onion, pickle, bacon, lettuce, pepper jack cheese, spicy ranch and a side of sweet potato fries. How the mighty have fallen. Went here for my sisters 18th birthday, we've been coming here for a long time and the quality has declined substantially over that period of time. The food is the saddest its been, my sister (a picky eater) ordered a grilled cheese and some genius made it with pepper-jack cheese?!?! My BYO was dry and tasteless, no juices no color. The fried pickles were clearly old and reheated, my Dad ( who will eat about anything) even spit it out. The waiters are also sad and depressing, specially the African American server. The patties were medium rare and a little extra juicy, so they made the bottom bun a little soggy, but our other burger was perfectly medium and pink on the inside so I think I'd trust them to not overcook them in the future (I usually ask for medium rare to avoid overcooking). Last night in Milwaukee on this trip and needed a solid gluten-free, vegan meal within walking distance of my hotel. I was intrigued by Stack'd Burger and impressed by their GF and vegan offerings. Much better options than Shake Shack, which was closer but a no go. I got the bean burger with a bed of greens, tomatoes, onions and pickles with a side of sweet potato fries. Unlike Umami Burger, though, there isn't a menu full of original creations with funky names; instead, you're invited to build your own burger, with a la carte pricing for different kinds of proteins, buns (including gluten-free!), cheeses, and toppings. Sides are eclectic and playful - I enjoyed the Tetris Tots that are cut like Tetris pieces and really do fit together if you feel inclined to play with your food (not that I would *ever* do such a thing, ever! ;) ). The pricing is about what you'd expect for a place like this. Expect to pay $30-35 for two burgers, sides, and sodas; there's a decently-sized cocktail and beer list with prices ranging from $7-12 each. My best friend raves about this place and I finally was able to stop in and enjoy their burgers! I liked their drink options. They have a lot of options for beer and the way you order your burgers is so much fun! You get to customize every part from the meat choice, to the bun, toppings, and sauces! They have so many different options to add to your burger!! The burgers are SO good as well!!! We ordered onion rings too, and they were crispy and flavorful. The one thing they should update/fix is the booth seating. Ours had a huge cut in it and was taped to cover it up... didn't look appealing. Check. Check. And, Check. I decided to order takeout, mainly because I hadn't been in a motor vehicle in over a week and it seemed time for an adventure. This is where we're at, friends. When driving a couple miles for curbside pickup is one's weekend travel. But, I digress... Back to Stack'd. Stack'd has a nice menu of specialty burgers, in addition to their build your own options. I opted to build my own (bison burger topped with goat cheese, caramelized onion, tomato, and avocado). It was good. The burger was ever so slightly dry, but other than that, delish. For my side, I got their french fries which are thin (not exactly shoe string, but thinner than average) and come nicely seasoned. They also carry Sprecher sodas, and the kiddo ordered and loved and orange dream float. They're super quick (we ordered from home and the estimated pickup time was 20 minutes later) and their prices are on the higher side of average (my burger with fries was $17). I was pleased to read on their website that they serve only grass fed beef and utilize local products wherever possible. All in all, a great experience. So thankful for takeout these days! read more

So this is a mixed bag review for me and this was my first time having Stack'd. Note: They do have limited hours during COVID so check before going and there is a good amount of patio seating. Service: 2/5. We had a table of 7-8 people for dinner on a Tuesday which was not very busy. I thought our server did a poor job staying on top of the table in terms of drinks, making sure we have condiments/utensils, and clearing the table. Being a former server I know the difficulty of the position, but I felt this was some of the worst service I have had in MKE. Food: 3.5/5. I ordered the "Kick In The Pants" with a side of sweet potato fries and Garlic Aioli. The burger had bacon, avocado mayo and chipotle jack on it. The fries were delicious and not too crispy with a solid aioli for dipping. The burger honestly tasted like a slightly better version of something I would get at a friends BBQ. Didn't find the burger have a ton of flavor to it and wasn't huge in portion. For $18 for a burger and fries in Milwaukee I was expecting a bit more. If you want a more gourmet burger for a high price you are better off going to Birch + Butcher or Uncle Wolfies. If you are looking for burger variety and a ton of toppings I would recommend Oscars for half the price and double the flavor. I would like to give the place a 3.5 stars. When we arrived, we were seated near the bar which had no bar tender and ignored for the "Karen Couple" that were being seated before us outside. A good 10-15 mins later we got our drinks. Apparently they only had two servers and one person busing tables for an early evening. The cheese curds were perfect! Some of the best I've had so far. I had the WillBurger. I found the hamburger to be a bit on the tough side. The bacon had more fat than I expected and was over cooked. Made it hard to eat. Went for the first time with three other people because one was a vegetarian and they served vegetarian food. Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy. They either didn't have enough staff or didn't schedule properly. Only one server initially who clearly didn't want to be there. We were told that they only had one grill going so it was going to be slow. He put his head down on the wall while we were asking questions. A bit after we ordered another server came around. Much friendlier and energetic. But our order had been taken. We waited quite a long time and finally the food came. It was good, but nothing special. I expected more for the price. Finally, we got our bill. I was a piece of paper tossed onto our table. The second server came around and gave us another bill (copy) but it was placed in a vinyl folder and handed to us. There was a person in our group who is an over-generous tipper and unfortunately, I think the wrong server got it. Two of us agreed it wouldn't be worth coming back there. Hipster burger bar if there ever was one and I liked it. We dined on a Friday night and were seated pretty fast. The interior has lovely exposed brick, close sitting area, and a really cool bar. One thing I really liked about the interior is that you can see the kitchen from most of the restaurant and see food being cooked. This place offers a wide variety of craft beers and have $2 off tap after 6 M-F. Our service was friendly, helpful, and fast. We ordered 2 burgers: 1 hangover and 1 build your own. I really enjoyed the hangover burger particularly because the burger toppings were creative and delicious: cheese, bacon, Lettuce, tomorrow, onion, and fried egg. This place also serves chicken sandwiches, bison burger, vegetarian and vegan options. I appreciate how they try to cater to almost everyone, and the delicious dishes. I came in once for lunch a while ago when I was downtown with a friend of mine. Their menu looked pretty good. I was doing Whole30 at the time, so I ordered a salad and they were very accommodating to the dressing that I needed. I ordered a steak salad and it was delicious. My friend ordered one of their burgers and said it was one of the best that she's had. I think that I would be willing to come back to try out their burgers, but their menu was a tad pricey. After waiting for our waitress for a little, we ordered our drinks right away and I decided to have the Cream City Vanilla Shake Spiked. If you are a fan of cream soda, I would definitely recommend this shake. It is very good and was the perfect amount of spiked where you could taste that their was alcohol in it, but not over powering. For my main course, I chose to have one of their specialty burgers. I have made my own burgers in the past, but decided to go with their Don't Mess with Texas Stack. This burger was very good, but kind of messy. (Most of their burgers are pretty messy, but so worth it.) I ate just about every last bite of this burger and would definitely recommend it if you like a little bit of spice and BBQ sauce on your burger. I had a meeting at Colectivo next door and only had 35-40 minutes to sneak dinner in, so I figured I'd roll the dice and give Stack'd another chance. It was a Wednesday evening and the place was pretty empty. As soon as I walked in, a hostess promptly came up and greeted me with a friendly smile. (Good start) She sat me and told me my server would be right with me. The server appeared within seconds and also greeted me with a friendly smile. She asked me what I'd like to drink and reviewed the specials on the menu. (so far so good) I already knew what I wanted because I scouted the menu online before I arrived, a build-your-own burger with grass-fed beef ($12), bacon ($1.50), avocado ($1), and sauteed mushrooms ($.50) on a classic bun with a side of regular fries. The $15 included the bun and regular handcut fries, so I had that going for me. Some bread and side options carried up-charges. When it arrived, I was pretty pleased. It looked worth the $15 with a massive steak knife plunged into the center holding the garnish of fried pickle slices in place on the bun. The fried pickles were delicious with perfect texture and flavor. The handcut fries (I double-checked and she confirmed they were handcut) were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Most importantly, they didn't look like crap because they were cooked in clean oil (again, the place wasn't that busy). I ordered my burger medium and took a couple of bites to see how it was cooked. Alas, it was cooked well-done, just like my first visit 2 years ago. It's beef! I won't die if I eat it undercooked a little. Go ahead and take the chance on undercooking it a bit. So the patty was dry, of course. However, the patty had decent seasoning, and the bacon, avocado, and mushrooms were on point. So overall, I enjoyed the burger. My server checked on me a few bites in. I didn't have time to wait for a re-fire, so I just told her everything was good, which it was, just not great. Stack'd Revisited Was I harsh in my past review for Stack'd? No way. I've been back a handful of times since and things have definitely improved on all levels. If this was a review for the bar only, I'd up the rating because the beer menu here is pretty darn cool. They have a few interesting cocktails, as well. Since Stack'd is more a restaurant than straight up bar, the food is just not up to par in my book. It's a great location, so they'll always have that going. But the value proposition is rather poor. You will pay a ton for a burger and that burger will be somewhere between meh/mediocre and ok/pretty good. I tried one of the day's specials, Pollo Verde chicken sandwich, it was a whopping $14 and "ok" tasting, not something that would bring me back. The chicken flavor was just alright and the lettuce looked liked it perhaps wasn't as fresh but I couldn't tell if that was because they put it underneath the warm pulled chicken versus putting (what should be) the fresh greens, on top. The appetizers (portabella fries & fired pickles) and side with my sandwich (onion rings) had really, really heaving breading. So, depends on what you like in the breading world. I tasted my friends' pulled pork and I didn't think that was anything to write home about. I probably would've had to douse it in more BBQ sauce. The thing I liked most about Stack'd's non-drink items was the sriracha ranch -- but I can simply buy my favorite ranch dressing and squirt some sriracha in it myself. Also, speaking of that, I'm huge against nickeling and diming me as a customer and again Stack'd loses on the value proposition because they will hit you up $0.50 if you want extra dip/dressing. I really that that is stupid. On my previous 2 visits here (in over 6 years) nothing really ever brought me back, hence the low return frequency. I only returned recently because of the location and that there was an outdoor patio. Next time with those same needs, I'd opt for someplace else. I was not impressed by this place. We were seated in a dingy corner facing a blank wall despite being there at a fairly dead time on a Saturday. The music made us feel like we were at an Eastern European EDM festival lol. The menu is printed on printer paper and is really cluttered and hard to parse through. My boyfriend and I thought the specialty burgers options had lackluster topping combinations, so we did build-you-own. My boyfriend got the Texas toast as his bun and was super disappointed--it was like two pieces of under-toasted white bread that couldn't support his burger and toppings. My burger was really fatty, and both of ours were much more done than we requested. The fries were really good! We didn't like that we ordered sauces for our burgers and they came on the side, only because it was really messy and the tables do not have napkin caddies. Wouldn't have been an issue otherwise. Unlike for other reviewers, our service was fine. I'm sure the patio is nice in the summer, but I don't think we'll be back. I tried the Epic Tart N' Juicy Sour IPA this time and It's actually a pretty good sour beer. My brother got a more fruity sour beer which wasn't as good but not bad. Can't remember which beer he got. I can never say no to the delicious creamy poppers, mac, and burger. Or stealing a few people's fries. ;)) This is one of my favorite restaurants because of the different dietary options.
