Such a great little tour! Our tour guide, Emily, was very sweet and friendly. She kept all of us engaged. I learned a lot of new things about bourbon and gin. They also provided us with a lot of samples of their cocktails and bourbon. Our tour ended in a really neat gift shop. The best part of the tour is that it's FREE. read more

They had a Yelp happy hour and it was awesome! I couldn't get any bourbon or mixers, so didn't stick around thru the whole party but the presentation was really nice and there were around 130 people on the zoom call. Next time I'm in st Augustine to play I'm going to do a tour. Thanks guys! read more

The St. Augustine Distillery is a pretty much the best one you'll ever go to. Having visited others in different city, this one is extremely organized and really fun. The tour is free unlike most places and they provide not only facts about how they make their liquor but the history of their place too. At the end of the tour, they'll give you a free tasting of what they distill here. There's a lovely gift shop attached where you can buy bar related things and the liquors they distill. They also have shirts and other gifts you can get. The distillery is attached to a local restaurant called the Ice Plant. The Ice Plant is makes every single thing on their menu from scratch. Even the condiments! Their drinks are also tasty because the ice they use is made for that particular drink. The drink is crafted with thought and concern for the person who will consume it. They have different shaped ice in order to maximize the best taste from the drink. The restaurant and the distillery aren't affiliated with each other but they are both a great place to spend hours at. I would definitely check it out. read more

I am so completely disappointed after seeing the excellent reviews. I'm sure the tour is awesome. The problem is their hours posted are incorrect. We arrived at literally 5:31, hours say they close at 6. Last tour at 5:30. We were told that we just missed the last tour by ONE minute. The staff was literally laughing that it was just by one minute. Guess what? These are self-guided tours. No tour guide! We had two kids in tow and would likely breeze through it. I said the same, all in a kind and respectful voice. I would completely understand if it was handled differently and simply said "I'm sorry you missed our last tour. We would like to invite you into the shop where you can sample there". Or even, you can do the tour, you just can't do tastings until the shop. None of this. We found the store on our own where we could sample. Given the reviews, we went back two days later. We weren't going to miss it again so we got there right when they opened at 10 a.m. Shame on us for paying attention to their posted sign outside. Nope. Tours don't start until 10:30 although there were two employees there telling us they couldn't let us in. We had another tour scheduled and couldn't wait the 30 minutes. I shared what happened and they doubled down. Their staff works hard and needs to leave. I asked that they correct their hours on the website, Yelp, and signage on their building. They said they would take it under consideration. Moral of the story. Go midday -- unless they close for lunch too. Or call ahead and talk to someone. I suspect their recording is off too. UPDATED TO ADD: I spoke with Amanda following her comments and she saw that under the Tour section of their website, they don't list tour hours so one would assume it's the same as their posted ones. (Hours are posted under contact us but not where one looks when checking out tours.) She is updating and truly appreciated the feedback. She also acknowledged that we should have been allowed to tour having arrived one minute late. read more

i like that fact that the trolley comes here and drops you off and they have a free tour of the distillery. They show you how they make the alcohol, how they store there liquor which i pretty fascinating. They also have free sample of there famous cocktail. They sell there alcohol and saw some glazed nuts as well. read more

We stopped by the distillery to try to get in on one of the last tours before they stop around 5 pm. It was really cool to hear the history of the building as well as see how the various liquors are made. Even though the warehouse is not temperature controlled it wasn't too bad that day, although I've heard it can be pretty unbearable at times. After the tour, you walk into a small room where you get to try a few signature cocktails with some premade mixes they sell themselves. Everything was very good and tasted very fresh, and not overly sweet, which I tend to find a lot with premixed drinks. Then you have moved along to the gift shop area where you try some of the delicious bourbons they offer. Here is also your chance to try any of the liquors neat. I didn't find it an issue to get to the bar and sample whatever I wanted including an AMAZING port barrel aged bourbon. Everyone here was super friendly and it was a great experience getting to see and try everything. read more

Wife and I took the guided tour. Our guide was great! He was fun and informative and the bourbon tasting samples where very tasty. We stuck around to take the free self guided tour as well and enjoyed the cocktail samplings. This was an all around great experience. read more

Free distillery tour!!!! We had a brilliant guide. We were walked through the distillery by her. You get to see where the magic happens and also see the aging barrels. We were under instructions not to give into temptation to lick or cuddle the barrels :) :) The tour then finishes with a cocktail lesson (actually its three cocktails plus a gin & tonic) which are all made with super mixologist flare. You get to try all four and then like all good tours you finish up in the shop. My favourite was the sugar cane vodka and I brought a bottle home. I tried to get one of their copper mugs but unfortunately they had all sold out so I bought a mini version instead. If you're doing the trolley tour they stop here and I strongly recommend you hop off here and do the tour. Its wonderful. We finished off at their bar - The Ice Plant. read more

Went here today for a (free!) tour of the distillery and had lunch afterwards. Jade who gave the tour was absolutely adorable and made the tour so interesting. The lunch was reasonably priced and the food was fantastic. Everything about this operation is well done and this shouldn't be missed!! read more

Every single employee I spoke with was clearly proud to be working for the distillery. They were all knowledgeable, helpful, pleasant and full of energy. Well worth the visit and distillery tour. A little too much marketing for my liking, but still a great spot to check out. The Ice Plant is a historic building in the city, which now serves as a restaurant and a distillery. In respect to the distillery tour, our guide, Laura, was animated, friendly, and engaging. Her energetic personality added to the overall great experience. In addition to learning historical aspects of the Ice Plant, everyone can sample four of their products- bourbon, gin, vodka, and rum (and their signature mixers). The tour ends at their gift shop, which makes it much harder to resist the temptation of purchasing some goodies to take home. Their vodka and Moscow mule mixer had me sold! Can't wait to recreate it at home. read more

Awesome place with an amazing tour guide named Meagan! Lively and Knowledgable and everyone at this place loves their job! The tour is free and the liquor is completely worth it and made in house. Came in about fifteen minutes early for the free tour, which leaves every half hour I believe. Laura greeted us and gave us the tickets. We opted to walk around the nice little room they have which gives a nice preview of tools and some history to the distilling and farming aspects of alcohol which was really interesting for me. Still, it only took about five minutes to walk around the relatively empty space and read the things I was interested in. By the time the tour was ready, it was pretty full in there though. We also had Laura for our tour guide and man can she put on a show. Super enthusiastic, very loud and knowledgeable about the distillery and the history of the place. They didn't play a video that I remember but it was cool to see the passion she had for the place and it really leaked out into the guests there. Super local and community focused. You get to walk around the floor of the distillery which is actually very small but really interesting nonetheless. You can see the stills and a few people working and you pass the bottling area. I would have loved a few more minutes just to walk by and casually observe the more intricate processes of things but I know that is hard to do on a quick tour and it was free so it is hard to complain there. She was great at explaining the different alcohols they make and the process behind all of them. It was neat to learn some new things and also reinforce some of the stuff I have learned having only recently gotten into whiskey. And, of course, they do have free cocktail samples which were basically full shot glasses of each drink. Laura made the drinks, total full service! Also she explained what went into each of them and the flavor profiles you could expect. They were all great, actually. Each was made with their own signature mixers which are natural and only require a little hit of each along with their alcohol and some seltzer water to complete. Then came the final section up at the bar and gift shop where another nice fella mixed us up an old fashioned and then let us try the alcohol neat or on the rock(s) per request. I'm still learning to appreciate fine liquor neat and my wife is much further behind than I am. So the cocktails were all decent, some excellent, while the alcohol neat was... strong! But, the array of stuff they had available was awesome and it is a great way to support an awesome business trying to give back to their community. Definitely worth the stop and they have plenty to purchase for anyone interested in alcohol. They also had some bourbon chocolates that were made with their alcohol and they were really good! read more

The tour is simple but the sample tasting was superb. I highly recommend the bourbon with the port finish 102 proof but very smooth. All their products are awesome but since I am a bourbon drinker my opinion was based on that. While in Saint Augustine I highly recommend this place read more

I absolutely loved my visit to this gem. Located off the main strip of St Augustine (but still easy to access either by foot or by trolley), the St. Augustine distillery boasts a free tour and tasting that walks you through the bourbon making process in their historic distillery. Our tour guide was fun and knowledgeable and the bartenders made a great Old Fashioned! It was a fun and delicious way to spend the afternoon! read more

5 Stars for a great, free tour of an inspiring company focused on supporting local! ~cough cough~ and an amazing cocktail tasting or two ~cough~ We arrived a bit early for the 4:30pm tour and after we got our time cards stamped (nice touch!) we browsed the gift shop while we waited. There were so many great gift ideas for those hard-to-buy-for men in my life, but I was focusing more on the accessories (glasses, mixers, bar tools) than the alcohol. We spent the last few minutes waiting in a room with the history of the farming and distilling in FL displayed on the walls which was great for passing the time until we began. We were then led (by Larry) to a room where we watched a short film about the creation of St. Augustine Distillery, its mission, and the farmers and local effort behind it. It left me literally clapping with joy at how community-oriented this business is. (One slight suggestion would be to add subtitles to the video as I had a hard time understanding everyone.) We then were led through the warehouse where the distilling happens and Larry explained the processes for the Vodka (using FL sugar cane rather than potatoes), Gin, and Bourbon. I've been on tours like this before and this was the first one that really held my attention. It was fascinating and I have some fun facts to impress my liquor snob friends (you know who you are...). Then came the tasting! Larry crafted some lovely drinks for us including the most refreshing Moscow mule I've ever tasted, which used fresh ginger and seltzer (rather than ginger beer) and a gin and tonic that turned my gin-averse friend into a true believer. I love the fact that the labels on the bottles have illustrations of the farmers involved in the ingredients and also that you can buy each ingredient and tool used in the demo (brilliant and effective marketing, my friends!). As they mention on the tour, the bottles bought at the distillery lead to more money going directly to the business (versus buying them in a bottle store back home), so naturally everyone on the tour left with hefty purchases. This was a really great time and afterwards we took a stroll upstairs to enjoy more fine libations at the Ice Plant. What a fabulous way to spend an evening!! I'd definitely return and bring friends. read more

The epitome of support local. Go here and do the free tour and then be warned of how much you will want to take home from the gift shop (read cocktail heaven)! Handcrafted Small Batch Spirits; Whiskey, Rum, Gin & Vodka. Need I say more? Ok, fine, then let me spew the amazingness at you: How they came about, "...with access to locally grown sugar cane, wheat, corn, and citrus, we could develop a finer quality spirit than just about any other place in the world..." heck yes! This is exactly what they did and if you visit to do a free tour, you will learn all about this. -- First, the building, a 1927 industrial building that used to be an ice factory... just stunning. -- The free tour is super informative and if you are lucky, Larry will be your guide. Funny, entertaining and super knowledgeable. There is a short movie and while it's not the best quality and the sound is really hard to hear at time, you discover that a key part in this distillery involves local farmers and learning what they could grow to help them make spirits. Local designers make the labels and on some of them, they feature the farmers. Adore that. The tours happen every 30 minutes and are complimentary and first-come, first-served. -- The equipment is so cool and they care so much about it, they make sure they are named. So, you will meet Bessie and Ella! The bottling center is very small but if someone is in there, you will be able to see the process. So very hands on. -- The tasting room. After the tour, you get to head into a bar room and taste two of the feature cocktails. We had the Florida Mule and a Gin & Tonic. I purchased all ingredients in the store right after so that has to say something =) -- The Store - right after the tasting room you are lead into the store. It's adorable. Of course they carry a ton; Saint Augustine Bottled spirits (obvi), Books, cocktail tools, barware, decor, simple syrups, tonic syrup, and various other Florida made products. Such a darling store. You will walk away with things for yourself and others! Such a good gifting spot. -- The Bathroom. I know, what the heck could be cool about the bathroom? EVERYTHING! It's stunning, vintage, and actually enjoyable. The sink is a trough sink and I couldn't stop staring. My must haves from the store: - Spirits - note that the distillery makes a much higher % when you purchase from them directly. They have made various labels so you can buy up to two bottles per label. WORD! - St. Augustine Distillery Florida Mule Mixer - Yes. Just Yes. At first I was a little concerned that you have to use within two weeks of opening this. At my house, this went in 3 days. I need to stock up like whoa next time. Delicious. - Strong Tonic Syrup + Bittermans Orange Cream Citrate - The very best Gin and Tonic tools around. So very smooth. Be careful tho, they go down like water. They define the flavor profile as an intricate array of sweet, spicy and bitter notes. Purely refreshing. ------- We went on a Thursday and had no wait for our tour at 4:30 and afterwards, we hit The Ice Plant (restaurant upstairs) and were seated immediately. What a lovely day in St. Augustine. I can't wait to return! read more

History

Established in 2014.

St. Augustine Distillery is located inside of North Florida's last remaining ice manufacturing plant. Portions of the structure were originally constructed in 1905, when the ice plant was just one of a row of manufacturing facilities that existed along Riberia Street in downtown St. Augustine, Florida. Ice manufacturing was essential to local fishing and shrimping industries prior to modern refrigeration. During renovations to our facility, we uncovered steel beams and the bridge crane that moved the enormous ice blocks back and forth. As we learned more about the role of ice production and distilling in North Florida, we discovered an era when distilling was about crafting quality spirits rather than corporate efficiency. This is a legacy that we honor throughout our building and in producing our small-batch craft spirits such as vodka, gin, rum, and whiskey bourbon.

Bring in your own vendors and you can create a fabulous wedding on a modest budget. I'm not just saying that because I am the proud bride. When originally searching for a wedding venue we had a few must-haves, which included a location with historical character, in driving distance from Orlando, and located in a town where out-of-state visitors could enjoy exploring. And so we focused in on St. Augustine. I had a good gut instinct about the Sanchez House from the moment I discovered them online, and I must shamelessly admit that I stalked the websites of every couple who had their wedding at the Sanchez House. We quickly booked a visit to the Sanchez House, because they are only able to hold 12 weddings a year due to being zoned in a residential area. We met with the owner, Blake, who shared with us the history of the home, gave tips from other weddings held on the premise, and shared some of his favorite vendors. When we experienced the venue in person, we fell even more in love with the charm that was evident around every corner of the house! The SH offers a brick courtyard, artificial turf front lawn, large gathering room, dining room, kitchen, office, two bedrooms, small one-car garage, and an attic. Not only can you hold your wedding events at the house, but you are able to stay there, as well. This allowed us and our bridal party, 6 in total, to stay at the house. So convenient! After booking the Sanchez House, we decided to extend our celebration into an entire weekend. Our events spanned from 50 to 90 guests, and SH accommodates them comfortably. The house is in an excellent location by the bay and walking distance to historic St. George Street. At the SH, we were able to select our own vendors. We held our ceremony in the courtyard which transformed to the dance floor. The front lawn was donned with a heated tent and tables on the coldest Florida winter day. It even snowed lightly! Guests had the chance to mingle throughout the house in the dining room, gathering room, and balcony. I would note that the parking around the SH can be challenging, but we gave plenty of parking options for guests through our wedding website and social media, and suggested our guests to stay at one of the nearby hotels or bed & breakfasts. I highly recommend the Sanchez House for any couple looking for an intimate St. Augustine venue!

We had a couple of drinks and shared a steak sandwich. Really love this place which was completely remodeled a while ago. The steak sandwich was excellent. With hot fries (hate when they aren't hot). Wife and I shared it and it was a perfect meal. Good drinks- really friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit when visiting St Augustine. Yep it's 5.

We attended for a charity function and it was beyond charming and elegant. The staff was attentive, personable and downright entertaining. I was amazed at how well it looks. The garden is beautiful in ornamental style. The Oldest House Museum is located in St. Augustine, Florida in St. Johns County, Florida. It is operated by the St. Augustine Historical Society and includes the González-Alvarez House, the Manucy Museum of local history and the Edwards Gallery. The museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 per person for the guided tour and lasts about 1/2 hour.

Every venue had its own style, and we decided to go with the Grand Ballroom for the ceremony and reception. The value you are getting for the money spent was incredible! The tasting that they host for clients was super helpful, and allowed us the opportunity to try the food us and our guests would be eating on the big day. We had the privilege of working with Giselle, who was INCREDIBLE! She was so attentive and responsive to any small or big question that we had. We had a lot of last minute changes with guests and she was so kind and understanding throughout. The day of the wedding itself was amazing, and everything went more smoothly than we could have imagined. We didn't have to lift a finger! Giselle was so supportive and calming throughout, and made us feel like we truly felt like royalty. We will always be grateful to the White Room staff including but not limited to the bartenders, servers, Giselle, Rebeccah, and everyone else involved with the venue. Each time we've visited we have had wonderful experiences. Everyone is always a joy to interact with. Lexi had a large group during our first visit and then just the two of us the second time. Both times we walked out with our favorite spirits and some new ones. The peanut butter whiskey is always a staple and this one is my favorite. We now have a new addition to our must-have collection, mango datil whiskey. I dont even mix these with anything as they are incredibly smooth. Can you? Sure. But why? The spirits also change out and I'm a little sad that the cookie dough whiskey will become seasonal (that one did mix well with the peanut butter and caramel). But the new key lime pie rum was delicious and the coconut rum is another favorite. Was there anything we didn't like? I am not a fan of the roasted pecan whiskey but I can appreciate why others will enjoy it. In our tasting, Lexi swapped that one out for me so I didn't miss out. The care and joy the team has is palpable and a must stop when visiting the St Augustine area. Big fan and we now stop by multiple times each visit to sample and take home our favorites. Im excited to try the new rye whiskey on a future visit. One thing to keep in mind is that the tasting used to be free and now costs $5. Personally, I don't mind since there is a $5 coupon to use in the store that can be stacked so it becomes essentially free but it's a relatively recent change (the same applies to the nearby St Augustine Distillery and San Sebastian Winery). Do I wish that this one was still free? Of course. Will it stop me from visiting? Nope. It just breaks up my purchases so I can apply the cost each time. (And it's much better than the winery which gives you a plastic cup...nice but not really repeatable.) Overall, City Gate continues to be my favorite Distillery for flavored spirits. Thanks for always providing a great experience and product! And thank you to Lexi for being awesome!

Jessica and Tanner Went in for a tasting- $5 for 10…read moredifferent shots. Jessica was really sweet she was feeding our dog treats and held our purchases until we could pick them up later. Tanner did the tasting- his description of each was spot on. We ended up getting the salted caramel (tastes like butter beer)
