I was in the area and craving a dosa, so I decided to stop into Sri Dosa for some lunch. I grabbed a table right away and the waiter took my order pretty much immediately. This is a very casual spot with a few tables and lots of to go orders going out. There's a serve your own sambar station which I appreciated. The sambar is delicious, hot and spicy but not too spicy. I ordered the masala dosa which was huge and came with coconut chutney. Lunch was only $12 which, for this amount of food can't be beat. My only complaint was the lack of air conditioning which had me sweating it out significantly. Small price to pay, though. read more

This place is the worst Indian Restaurant. BEWARE. We are Indian and arrived here starving in the midst of a drive to northeast. I have a severe peanut allergy and specially told this to the waiter before we had even ordered anything. We placed our order and he said we would be ok, except for the peanut chutney, which he would place on the side. I started eating the Masala Dosa and felt my whole mouth swell up. I asked him again and he said there were zero peanuts in the food. I asked him for the third time to specifically ask the chef. He returned and informed me that the masala powder contains "1% peanut." By this point it was too late. Then as we were leaving he informed us that the powder contained 16 grams of peanuts. He lied on two occasions! He then refused to give me the manager or owner's information and ultimately I left needing medical attention. The atmosphere of this restaurant is atrocious. The waiters walk around in flip flops and you can see their disgusting toe nails. They make you go get your own water and sambar--basically make you serve yourself and the only things they bring are cold, disgusting entrées. These people are lucky they haven't killed anyone. No offer to give us a refund or any compensation either. read more

Sri Dosa Place is my favorite restaurant in NJ. Everything is so fresh and super tasty. My favorites are Masala Dosa, Masala idly and the thali. The chutneys and Sambar are the best I've had. I try to make Sambar like them but cannot come close. It is truly humbling lol. We drive 45 minutes each way to get here. Everyone is super friendly as well. Hope you enjoy! read more

This place is my absolute favorite spot to get dosa now! Yes the place may look old school but the food is chefs kiss. I love going in the summer (or whenever the weather is warm) - you can sit outside. We have tried different types of dosas here as well as the thalis. Got takeout from here and I thought the Dosas were great. I've been to another Dosa place close by in the area and it doesn't even compare. I ordered their special Dosa which has mint, tomato chutney, chilies, potatoes, and onion. It was good, but I enjoyed the other more plain Dosa I ordered which was just onion and potato. It's located off the Oak tree road and have a large parking lot in front of the restaurant. I recently went on Sunday afternoon and was able to grab a table right away. Theres also a huge parking lot across the street. The masala dosa was fairly good. It comes folded up which was a little unusual... I'm used to these being rolls. But I think it actually made it easier to eat. Tasted nice, but probably couldve done with a bit more potato. They were generous with the other "sides" though. I and my wife were here for brunch on a Sunday morning. They have a very accessible parking lot right across the road. The place isn't much - but those who like South Indian breakfast it definitely is the most authentic and hits the right spot. During our visit we tried the idli, Mysore masala dosa and poori bhaaji. All the breakfast were cooked perfect and served with generous chutney portions with unlimited refills. The only disappointment is they use the same masala in both the masala dosa and poori bhaaji. This could be amped up if I had requested more spice, but it was my first visit. It's cheap and filling, so I'd recommend to give it a shot. Idly was okay, Vada was not good, it was over fried. Would skip the Vada if I go back. Sambhar is self service - you have to get your own Sambhar and chutney and utensils. Tried a simple masala dosa with a mango lassi to help wash it down. The lassi was pre-made in the fridge and the dosa came out stat. Dosa was thin and mostly crispy without being greasy. Potato filling was okay and tender but a bit lacking in flavor overall. Lassi was creamy and refreshing at the same time with a nice balance of sweetness and tartness. I have passed Sri Dosa Place millions of times but never really noticed it (being in the corner) until yesterday. Came here with my parents for a late Sunday dinner around 8 pm (SO CROWDED) and waited about 15 minutes to be seated. First off, the customer service is horrendous. I get it, it's fast food. But, if you're expecting the kind of service you would get at Khasiyat or Bombay Talk, you better lower your expectations because this place has subpar service. When my party of 3 was called, the table they placed us at had only 2 chairs and the table was still a mess. Why don't you clean the table first and make sure all the chairs are there? My dad stood for a solid 5 minutes and then had to call someone over to tell them that there's a chair missing as well as to clean our table. Then, when we got our menus, we waited another solid 5-10 minutes and yet AGAIN, we had to call someone over to tell them we're ready to order. We ordered Sev Puri, Channa Masala Onion Chillies Dosa, Palak Paneer Masala Dosa, and Rava Masala Chili Dosa. When we asked our waiter how long this would take, he said "25 - 30 minutes" ....WHAT?! Then my mom said, "Sev Puri won't take long right?! It literally take 2 minutes to make that" and the waiter just smirked...lol what the heck. Literally 25 minutes later, all of our food came out. Sev Puri was good but spicy. Dosas were good but not the best - Palak Paneer had shredded paneer almost looked like mozzarella cheese, Rava dosa was so hard to eat, and Channa dosa literally just had uncooked black channas in it (we were expecting cooked channa). Sambhar is unlimited which is cool. If you want to get more out of your wallet, I would suggest Monday Dosa Buffet when there's not a large crowd. I will not be back. Possibly the saltiest and greasiest food I've ever eaten, that and it was also bland underneath the salt. Considering the prices, I shouldn't have expected all that much, but wow did it hurt to eat practically everything. The only thing not salty was the plain rice, which should be a given. Quantity of food was very reasonable, but of course it was too hard to finish. Samosas were literally dripping in oil to the point of wrapping them in paper towels and squeezing to get the excess out. This time we ordered. Podi Idly small bites dusted with roast curry leaf. Amazing. The Masala Vada were crisp and tasty. Not what we expected better than great. We got a Pesarattu with Upma. No idea what it would be. Great choice. A different type of crepe with a grain filling. So good and satisfying. Just for fun we got a favorite Dahi Poori. Crispy little balls of yum. Maybe next time we will try to save room for dessert. If you like Indian food go it will become you go to place. If you have never tried India food, go discover a delicious place to eat. Surprised to see such low reviews at this place! We went here cause even tho so many dosa places in the area this one opens the earliest and we needed to get started on our day. This place was packed at around ten in the morning. You have to place your order at the counter then have a seat. The food came out pretty fast-within ten minutes. We got idli, masala dosa and special dosa place dosa. The masala dosa had a nice kick of flavor which is a wonderful addition. The special dosa was surprisingly good and a tad refreshing too with onions and tomatoes in the mix. Obviously not a place for a fancy date night, and not the prettiest ambiance. Also we went on a hot day and we were almost sweating in there. But in terms of flavor-it hits the spot. Would definitely recommend! read more

The amount of food you get for the price is outstanding! 2 mini dosas (not really that mini), and 2 idli for $11? It can't be beat - top it off with unlimited sambhar and you're in for a treat Although the service leaves something to be desired, you can't really expect much with prices like this - its streamlined but they don't cut corners when it comes to taste!
