They had a lot of chaat items and we have been coming here recently to try their Pani puri as the flavors taste fresh out of making. The reason I'm rating this place a star less is for the customer service as the elderly lady who manages the front desk and also the Pani puri most of the times seems stressed out and little tough to the customers with stubborn responses both the times we have been here. Definetly a no frills spot, but they serve live pani puris with 7 different flavors of pani this is a must have just for this spot alone. also have multiple different food stalls so there is something for everyone to enjoy. This Desi Galaxy is located inside a big strip mall, parking is tough, but you will get it. Good luck on busy weekends. Lot of options for both vegetarians and non veggies. I especially like the live pani puri counter with 5 different pani's. We also tried the Puffs at this location and was okay. Definitely worth the try and quick and fast delivery at this location. This will bring memories of street food from India. You may not expect a smile or greet and comes with street food experience. Prices are reasonable ad definitely worth visiting. Updating my review and photo, because it has become a little tradition of mine to come here with my vegetarian friend and get dosas and lassis. The dosas are massive- they are longer than the entire tray. Last night, I tried #36 at the dosa stand- which had paneer, cheddar, and mild spicy potatoes. A little hesitant at first because I wasn't sure how spicy 'mild spicy' would be, and I once had a bad experience with 'baby mild' at a restaurant (which was so spicy I could barely eat the food), but it was just the right amount. The potato mixture also had lentils and seeds, it was delicious. My friend got the spinach and paneer. We both took home half of our dosas, a serving enough for my breakfast and lunch the next day. read more

Stopped by expecting a normal restaurant experience, but the interaction at the juice counter was something else. The staff member there had a very rude and dismissive attitude. Instead of feeling welcomed, it honestly felt more like a jail canteen vibe than a place where customers are supposed to enjoy food. Customer service here definitely needs improvement. read more

I did not realize that I've never had real Indian food until Desi Galaxy. Desi Galaxy is a very mini food court with shared seating in a small strip mall. My son's friend recommended we come here during our visit to get a literal taste of the local Community. Friendly diners stopped to ask if we were enjoying our food (we were obviously visitors). We went straight to the back and didn't recognize anything on the menu. After looking a few things up and asking for recommendations, we ordered several items and they were all wonderfully delicious. Everything is either slathered or accompanied by the most wonderful combo of spicy, tangy or sweet sauces. There's a lot going on in each of the dishes but there's still a freshness about it all. We stop here to satisfy our chaat cravings. Did I say here we accidentally picked the express ... and not the other desi galaxy down the street. It was cold and didn't want to turn around. And after having eaten here I prefer the other desi galaxy that's not "express". It's not the cleanest of the spots but that applies to most eateries in this area... they look rundown. But you continue eating like you have a blind spot. We tried the pani puri (not a smart choice if you're concerned about hygiene) but common it's pani puri!! 6 puris 5 pani flavors to try from..Kala Katta was my fav. We also had a pav bajji... consistency was good but I didn't like the flavor as much. We got couple of things from Ammas kitchen from the next counter. Can't believe they had idli and vada for a $1. This was my first visit to the desi galaxy express. I usually visit Desi galaxy a little down the street Desi galaxy is a bunch of small stalls in one location. The stalls include various juices, chaat, north Indian or mogul food and paan. We had paani puri and pav bhaji. Pani puri comes in 6 flavors and the last puri is the one you can pick. My 2 favorite flavors in order of my liking were Katta meeta and mango. Pav bhaji was good with onions. Make sure to get an extra pav for a dollar as they give you bhaji sufficient for 2 pavs. If you are in thevare and in mood to try some Indian food at a good value and forget about your ambience experience.....this is the place to be. This is the closest feeling you get to eating food in India and reminds ne of my roots. Lovedddddd their vada paav. Simply amazing Brought back memories of Mumbai. Live pani Puri is good, but I don't like all 6 types of panis. Except khatta meeta and pudina , others don't taste that good .. they also have various types of juices and ice creams .. sugar cane juice is available sometimes . I really dig the multi stall setup. It offered memories of eating street food in India. A friend was craving paratha and chai, so I brought her here. The paratha are quite tasty. They are made to order, warm, flaky, and come with daal, raita, and pickle. For the unaware, Indian pickles are pickled fruit or veg that are quite spicy. They bring a nice zing to the plate! The masala chai was just okay. It was watered down. A good authentic chai will have more milk and a bit more sugar. I like my chai tej There are food and snack options from different states. The space is an open floor with about half a dozen tables and is shared with Amma's kitchen next door. I'd definitely return. Good place. read more

This is the second time I am here, ok, this is a place that have a few vendors selling practically out of food stands, it looks like a street market when you get in. They accept cash and credit/debit cards, and also offer take out, if you eat in you are expected to clean after yourself. I came back for the Falooda Mango drink, it's great!! But stayed for the food, it's tasty and affordable. I ordered chicken curry, lamb kebab and vegetable platter, all this came with naan. I like this place because it's a hole-in-the-wall. It's homey, warm and not pretentious. I enjoy coming here, although I am not from India I feel welcome here, I am from Ecuador and the two times I've come here have been a great experience. It was my first time to visit this location while i was driving through the town. Live gol galpe (panipuri) was on point no doubt kathirolls were ok i wont get it again. This place is so nice and fun. It kind of reminds me of cafeteria. They have a bunch of small stalls, we got dahi puri, gol gapa, bhel puri, samosa chat, dosa and falooda. Everything was delicious except the samosa chat. Gol gappas were so good that we went back the next day to have some more. They also have live gol gappas where you can stand and eat. Price is affordable as well. Make sure you go on a empty stomach so, you can really enjoy the yummy food there. They don't have a lot of seat though so, that was a little bit annoying but I will definitely be going back during my next visit to New Jersey. read more

This Place is amazing! I absolutely love every single item on the menu. This is one of the first Indian Restaurants I've ever ate at and it will always be my go to place in NJ. The Pav Bhaji, Aloo Gobi, Palak Paneer, Daal, Mutter Paneer, Butter Chicken, Samosas, and of course the Naan's and Roti's are my personal favorites. The staff is very friendly, accommodating, and attentive. The food is always hot, fresh, and incredibly flavorful. The Restaurant's atmosphere is great as well. Very clean and comfortable. Smaller Galaxy than the one on Rte 27 in Somerset/So Brunswick, this collection of restaurants deliver a good selection of South Asian food, snacks and drinks. The tea and milkshake and lassi collection is out of this world. Tried the Gulkand milkshare, which is a delicious and sweet rose-flavored milkshare with gulkand/rose petal spices mixed in, but I should've tried the sugar cane juice -- next time! Food wise, we tried the standard palak paneer, tikka platter and aloo platters, and each one admittedly tastes so delectable (albeit perhaps a tad bit too oily on some) and gourmet despite the relatively low price. If there is one place you should go to in the morning for a good Chole Bhature, very fluffy fresh bhatura, just like anywhere in India, this is the place to go hands down! Awesome Pani Puri, available with a wide variety of the water you out into it! Really nice lady at the counter who makes and gives you the puris too! The Egg Puff is pretty good too, but the Veg Manchurian was a bit too salty and overpowering. Took a bit of a long time to be served/collect this last dish from the counter.
