We ate here last night and for the most part it's a wonderful place and the food was great. Unfortunately I have to ding them: my wife ordered a filet med. rare, and it was completely raw. This is why I hate ordering steak in restaurants: chefs are terrified of patrons complaining about overcooking and they will have to cook a new cut. With undercooking they can just zap it for a few seconds and call it good, even though it ruins the cut. Listen up chefs: GET A MEAT THERMOMETER! They're only $20. Use it. All the great culinary schools teach this. That being said, I'll go back, just not for the steak. read more

Had lunch here on a busy Saturday and enjoyed it. Service was good enough but slowed as some large parties came in. The space is modern and comfortable but the food was the star. The quinoa salad special was good; the highlight of the meal was the conch ("conk") chowder, which was thermally hot and zesty. Would gladly eat there again. read more

Incredible dinner!!! We loved the swordfish empanada special, my boyfriend got the fried grouper sandwich he loved it! I got the tile fish special with crab and it was absolutely jaw-dropping. One of the best dishes I've had! Incredible service could definitely see why there was a line out the door! Definitely coming again and trying the other locations. I had been waiting for The Grouper to come downtown ! And she did not disappoint. I had the calamari to start. Cooked extra crispy and the taste was really good. The chili dipping sauce was different and tasty. My husband didn't like it so he got a chili aioli (top - they charge for extra sauces). I had the local fish sandwich. My fish was prepared correctly and it was very light tasting. It had a side of French fries which were shoestring. Not a fan myself but we're good. Husband got chicken Philly cheese sandwich. He said it was ok and rated it as a 6 out of 10. Nothing special. Service was good Place was clean which is a miracle in Key West. I will go back Meal was $55. Was so excited to try this place and waited all week to try it. Our waiter was a young guy with glasses and he was sooooo disrespectful! He is in the wrong profession and should be out of the service industry. It took forever for him to come over, which I didn't mind. But when he finally did, mid conversation he left, saying he'd be back (WTH). He wasn't. He started servicing people who came after us. We patiently waited but he never came back. My husband finally called out to him and he held up a finger signaling for us to wait even longer. By this time, our appetite was ruined and my husband said it was time to leave. I'm so disappointed because I really wanted to try this place but please hire waiters that know how to provide customer service. We are minorities so maybe this place is just racist and we were therefore ignored proper service (?). Who knows but customers beware and square grouper, get rid of this server or provide better training to these guys! read more

There were 4 of us. We each ordered something different. We were served 1 at a time over a 14 minute time period. Some of us were done eating as others were just getting served. Don't know what happened to management/kitchen being able to time the meals that we are all served together. The place is really missing the basics of restaurant operations. As a local and a loyal square grouper customer, I was really upset by the service my family received while dining at this new location. We all arrived at 6:30 and were told it was a 45 minute wait that turned into us not being seated till after 8pm because they only had one big table. So we were forced to sit at two table on opposite sides of the room with two different servers for a birthday dinner. The servers were never even told we were together. One table never received bread while the other table had to ask more two times for it. Food was 6/10 and cold. We brought our own cake, the server gave us plates and forks. The server dropped a fork on the floor and still gave it to our table. After everything we were then charged with a cake fee of $5 per person...we tipped and paid but will never be returning. read more

Was excited to visit here in March for my birthday. Had a nice time. So much that we decided to get hats and a T-shirt. BEWARE! It's their scam! They have a different merchant identity for the merchandise. They rang up our (considerable) food bill and then rang up the merchandise under the restaurant identity. Someone came back and said, oops, they had made a mistake and then rang up the merchandise (again) under the merchandise identity, saying we'd see a credit for the first charge. Not only NO CREDIT, but they wouldn't answer the phone or call back after 4 messages. Denied the charge with my credit card company but they FOUGHT IT, even though it was obviously a double charge (same exact dollar amount with minutes of each other). But they can deny it because it's under 2 different merchandise names. So, spent hundreds of dollars there and got scammed for an extra $107 in merchandise. They know they have a captive audience of tourists who can't just walk in there and speak to someone, so they just ignore you. DON'T GET SCAMMED! read more
