This was our first time here, and I think it will be our go-to place for donuts. We were greeted promptly and were in and out in less than 10 minutes. The shop is small, but it does have a few tables for dining in. They have a variety of donuts and coffee. I'm not a huge donut fan, but these were so good! We opted for half a dozen. They were puffy, airy, and light. So delicious!
I was so looking forward to revisiting Square Donut. We tried them when they first opened and I had fond memories. Now wondering if Im mis-remembering! I arrived around 830 on Sunday morning, and the line was short and fast moving. It looks like they have a booming advance order business, lots of pink boxes. I'm not fond of chocolate-iced donuts, but I love Bavarian cream insides, so that was one of my six purchases. I tried to scrape off the frosting, to no avail. It was a hard-ish shell like melted chocolate chips. The interior was yum, but the frosting made it too sweet for me. Next up, a lovely (bunch of) coconut. I was told it had coconut pudding inside, but again, the frosting was overwhelming, so that was essentially all I could taste. What's my theme here? Less is more, ladies and gentlemen! Next up, Maple Bacon. The maple frosting was not overwhelming, and was delicious. That said, the bacon WAS! Can that even be a thing? When is there ever too much bacon? If I was going out for a meaty breakfast, I'd go to Vidlaks. This is donuts! Cakey breakfast treats! I felt bad, but scraped off more than half the bacon bits, and then it was ok. I feel bad being such a curmudgeon. The people at the shop were wonderful -- helpful, speedy, knowledgeable. But while the donuts all are pretty, they are just over the top on toppings! With all the sugary bites, I needed coffee to cut the sweetness ... and while the coffee tasted ok, it was lukewarm -- and I'd only just walked to my car! In short, I like cakey things where the cake shines, and hot drinks hot. And that wasn't my experience today. It was, though, less expensive than I anticipated ... for which I'm thankful. Two whole donuts (fruit filled and vanilla iced) remaining along with three halves. I may try leftovers with my own steaming, strong coffee tomorrow, but I'm not sure the sugar has dissipated enough to sleep tonight. We'll see!
Got square donuts this morning for the first time. They are about 9 miles from my house so that's why I had yet to go. Was up very early so thought why not make the drive. Got there right when they opened. They had all the donuts they make available. The donuts have a good chew to them. The chocolate frosted with sprinkles was delicious, the chocolate Bavarian cream was also good. Probably can't really go wrong here. My oldest son LOVED them as he ate 5 of them. A tab on the $$$ side but most boutique donut shops are these days.
I am now a believer in square donuts! When I stopped in, it was a special day in the community (End of Summer/Back to School), so the stock was *way* low. There were just a few varieties left, plus several flavors of the gluten-free cake donuts. The digs are super cute! Love the pink everywhere. The gluten-free plain vanilla iced donut was perfection: light and fluffy, sweet and soft, with a little fresh citrusy brightness to the icing. You can't even tell it's gluten-free. Amazing. The maple bacon donut was pretty good. The balance of the flavors was on point, and the donut was still light and fluffy beneath all the rich toppings. Kind of a quibbling point on if you like your bacon done a particular way, but it was still pretty good. The star for me, though, was the PB&J donut. The delightfully crunchy peanut butter took the spotlight only for a moment, because there was such a good covering of jelly through every bite that childhood memories came flooding back with glee. I was surprised how light and fluffy the donuts remained beneath the specialty toppings, especially the maple and bacon. But the square donuts held their own!! I'll definitely be back. Thanks, y'all!
I had never tried Square Donut before and had a chance to go check them out via Yelp's Treat-o-Clock series (that's the great part about the Yelp Elite Squad, getting to try new places!) After that first visit courtesy of Yelp, I had to go back and get some more flavors of donuts, because they were such high quality (and giant!) It's always super busy in there, and they will run out of certain things by mid-morning, so definitely go early in the morning if you want the most selection of options. The staff is super sweet, and works well under the pressure of the busy atmosphere. The interior and branding inside is SO cute and very pink - my favorite color. It just puts you in a fun, bright mood so early in the morning. The donuts I have ordered (all delicious) are: -Square Jane: I think this is their play on a "Long John" - It was stuffed with a whipped cream filling and had a topping of chocolate icing with cute pink swirls. -Chocolate Peanut Butter: Also cool swirls on this one! It was a chocolate topped donut (the same tasty chocolate as the Square Jane) but with peanut butter on top and stuffed with a peanut butter flavored whipped filling. If you're a fan of peanut butter and chocolate together like Reese's - this is definitely one for you to try. -Maple Top Raised: I'm a huge fan of maple donuts, and this one was great! The maple glaze on top was very flavorful and sweet, and the donut itself (like all their donuts), was fluffy and light and easy to eat. -PB&J: This was another of the fancy style flavors I picked. The donut is covered in "chunky" peanut butter glaze (little bits of peanuts on top) and is filled with a grape jelly middle. It is literally like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich you make at home, but with a little extra sweetness since you're having it as a donut! -Strawberry Top Raised: In addition to maple, strawberry is one of my favorite flavors too, so I had to get this one! Perfectly pink strawberry frosting covering a light, fluffy donut. You can't go wrong with this one. -Chocolate Top Raised: This is an age old classic - just a super fluffy donut, covered in their scrumptious chocolate glaze. They also have a full array of coffee, from standard drip style to full on lattes that they can make. The last time I went, it was pumpkin spice season so I tried one of their Pumpkin Spice Lattes. It was a cut above the Starbucks PSL, it was that good! So if you see a flavor you like on the specialty lattes menu, grab it before it's gone. If you're a fan of amazing quality donuts, tasty coffee drinks, super cute cafe style spots, and wonderful staff - definitely give Square Donut a try. Just go early!
Narrowly escaped with a half dozen donuts at 12:30, but the last one for March's DOTM slipped through our fingers! Super CUUUTE merch, and I had no idea they sold Hardy Coffee Co there! #IYKYK Can we ALL just take a moment, and APPRECIATE how evenly filled the Bavarian cream is in the chocolate frosted one? It's not to one corner, or is it just a literal pea sized specimen. It's got a DECENT amount, in the middle - and let me tell you, that matters. Details folks, details. That maple?! Perfectly sweetened; not too sickly and oh so just right. Kinda disappointed the hubs got the first bite on that one... but I've got my eye on that simple yet sophisticated, chocolate glazed with sprinkles! I'll be honest, my first experience with Square Donut was for my nieces 3rd; ya know, the GIANT square donut, with strawberry frosting. The dough then was airy, moist, and what I "prefer" when I smash a donut. This batch?! SAME! Consistency is key and they do not disappoint on their dough. We knew pickings would be slim on a Saturday, so late into their working hours, but when in Rome as I always say REALLY looking forward to what April's DOTM will be!!
Quick and friendly service and really good donuts! The choices were diminished due to arriving a little late in the morning, but they were really delicious.
This place not only has exceptional donuts but amazing customer service! The girl behind the counter complimented my hair the second I walked in, and several other employees there were so pleasant and friendly during my 2 visits. To my surprise, the simplest donut I got (strawberry) was my favorite. Such a great taste on the dough alone and I am NOT a bread person so I normally don't enjoy donuts like this! Highly recommend, I will be back for sure!
Good doughnuts, but they only seem to have these desserts during the morning hours. Going at around noon yielded limited inventory. I've never understood why people want doughnuts so early in the morning. I perfer a healthy start to the day, and end with a sweet treat. Overall, a good doughnut if you can get them fresh. Stopped in around lunchtime yesterday. There was only one person in front of me so I got in and out very quickly. The parking is pretty good and the staff were very friendly. I looked at the apple fritters but it looked like there were only caramel ones left and (this is just personal preference) I like my fritters thinner. I ordered a maple frosted with sprinkles. It was good but I didn't think it was worth the price. It was $2 for a donut that I thought was equal to the $1 ones elsewhere... No offense to Square Donut, just felt the price was steeper than it should've been. read more
Recently moved out to the area so decided to try Square Donuts after reading reviews and driving by. I was just as impressed as others with their light, airy, fresh flavor. Every bite was just as delicious as the last. I know the price is a little higher than any grocery store or gas station, but you pay for the quality of the donut, and to me it shows. Every donut i tried was more than fresh and this was at almost 11am mid-week! I highly recommend you give Square Donut a try. read more

This place is beyond delicious and dangerously close to our humble abode. We've been fairly steady regulars making it in at least every other weekend at the not so quiet demands of our loving toddler. No complaints here. Their product is top notch and they have the perfect variety of donuts to please absolutely anyone. Freshness and quality ingredients are a top priority as their donuts hold up even 2-3 days later. Not ashamed to say we've ordered enough donuts to have to eat them for 3 days straight! The 2 that I have a hard time veering from are their blueberry and apple fritter. They're immaculate. That's all that needs to be said. From the flavor to the texture to their size. Everything is on point. If you haven't had the pleasure of trying them out, make sure they are on your list to try next! read more

Ok, so this is a first time trying this place review. It's really hard to get a full 5 from me cause that means it's the ONLY place I wanna go given the option. This place is a SOLID 4.7 outta 5. The donuts are hard to get as many times they were sold out of certain ones (according to the people who recommended this place). I love filled donuts so when we got them I went straight for the Bavarian filled one. I was expecting the usual barely filled donut with maybe a bite or two of filling. Wow. Was I wrong. Square Donuts fills their donuts, and by fills I mean maybe 3 bites worth without any filling and the end I was trying to make sure it didn't fall to the floor. I'm impressed. The flavor was great and 6 people enjoyed 2 donuts rather quickly and quietly, which means something in this house. They are pricier than some spots, but not more than a Bobs or other gourmet donut place. $18 for the specialty dozen. You get what you pay for though cause the quality is way better than a Krispy Kreme or Duncan. read more

I'm giving this place 5 for the GF donuts alone! Having celiac's, I never get to enjoy donuts and this place has changed that. They have glazed and chocolate raised and the crunch and sweetness is just right. We also bought an assortment of specialty raised and normal raised...everyone in the family was so happy with these! A little pricey, but worth it!! read more

Close to home and fun square shaped donuts we stop in for the flavor of the month, bubble gum. Quick in and out during a Thursday morning g stop. They close at 1pm so make sure to get there early. read more

Truly the best donuts I've ever hand. The raised donuts melt in your mouth. They are sooooo good and completely dangerous!! I'm not a fan of cake donuts so I can't speak to them. I love that they have a special flavor each month! Definitely go first thing in the morning if you want the best variety. The fact that they often sell out speaks volumes! YUM. read more
Very happy with our first (of what is sure to be many) visits! The shop was busy was service was still super efficient! we were pleasantly surprised by the options after 9am - we were worried we'd be left with few options but that was't the case. While there are a few options for seating inside, we chose to eat back home. We tried the square john (like a boston creme back in Boston), blueberry (heavenly blueberry flavor), vanilla frosted, choc frosted, glazed, and a maple bacon for the non-veg in the family. These donuts are so yummy! The glazed is amazing! I wish you could pick your own. I think it's time. There was no one there so there's no reason why we shouldn't have been able to. But the donuts are good for sure! $14 for a dozen. I'll be back once you can choose your own. read more

Obsessed! Moved to West O a couple weeks ago and have already been here 5 times. Being able to find gluten-free donuts, let alone, good gluten-free donuts is impossible for me. So excited for this place being so close and satisfying my pregnancy cravings read more
Showed up a 9:30 a.m on a Friday, drove 25 minutes across town because we finally had time to make it over here to try it...and they had only 1 vegan donut left. We aren't vegan, and I mean they only had ONE donut in the entire store left. No plans to make more, no explanation or apology. They advertise being open until noon, so it never occurred to us that they would be completely out. There were two of us here, so one donut was not going to cut it as we intended to bring them home for our family. Super disappointed, and don't plan to be making the trek over here again. read more
I believe I found my 'go to' place for apple fritters and donuts this morning. I have been disappointed by a local donut shop and lately a big franchise name for donuts regarding service. I have passed by this business several times off of Maple and never paid attention to the business until today. Easy to drive into, plenty of front parking, and you get a warm welcome when you step inside the business. Interesting, square shaped donuts, hence the name of the business. I had to select both apple fritters as well as selecting a few others. Great donuts and great service. 5 stars for Square Donuts. I will be returning again soon. read more

Cute place and the donuts were awesome! I would definitely come here again. Love that they have classic and unique flavor options, as well as vegan and gluten free donuts. Only complaint was the line to order was a little slow and wrapped around outside. I'd maybe order ahead next time to avoid the wait. read more

Raised set of 6 donuts was pretty bomb. The glazed were some of the best glazed donuts Ive had in awhile. Really fresh and somewhat still warm. The White frosting donut was definitely my favorite. The Maple was an ehhhh maple flavor. Not terrible, but not great. Kinda the same with the chocolate one. Still really good and fresh donuts tho. Really good prices too for the quality. read more

Square donut has delicious donuts. The donuts have always been expensive and I only buy them as a special treat today I went and got six donuts it was $19. I love donuts but I don't know how six donuts could be $19 as much as I love square donuts and it hurts me to pay $19 for six donuts. read more
