Stopped in around lunchtime yesterday. There was only one person in front of me so I got in and out very quickly. The parking is pretty good and the staff were very friendly. I looked at the apple fritters but it looked like there were only caramel ones left and (this is just personal preference) I like my fritters thinner. I ordered a maple frosted with sprinkles. It was good but I didn't think it was worth the price. It was $2 for a donut that I thought was equal to the $1 ones elsewhere... Recently moved out to the area so decided to try Square Donuts after reading reviews and driving by. I was just as impressed as others with their light, airy, fresh flavor. Every bite was just as delicious as the last. I know the price is a little higher than any grocery store or gas station, but you pay for the quality of the donut, and to me it shows. This place is beyond delicious and dangerously close to our humble abode. We've been fairly steady regulars making it in at least every other weekend at the not so quiet demands of our loving toddler. No complaints here. Their product is top notch and they have the perfect variety of donuts to please absolutely anyone. Freshness and quality ingredients are a top priority as their donuts hold up even 2-3 days later. The donuts are hard to get as many times they were sold out of certain ones (according to the people who recommended this place). I love filled donuts so when we got them I went straight for the Bavarian filled one. I was expecting the usual barely filled donut with maybe a bite or two of filling. Wow. Was I wrong. Square Donuts fills their donuts, and by fills I mean maybe 3 bites worth without any filling and the end I was trying to make sure it didn't fall to the floor. I'm impressed. The flavor was great and 6 people enjoyed 2 donuts rather quickly and quietly, which means something in this house. They are pricier than some spots, but not more than a Bobs or other gourmet donut place. $18 for the specialty dozen. This donut shop recently opened near 156th and Maple. Unfortunate timing in some ways, with the coronavirus limiting what they can do, but they appear to be maintaining pretty brisk business even in the face of these limitations. I stopped by this morning to pick up a dozen and I thought the donuts were very good. As you may well guess, they are square donuts. The donuts were very fresh and worth the visit to give them a try. They had plenty of people there to help this morning and everyone was very helpful. This shop has raised and cake versions and currently you can come in and pick up one of their pre-selected variety boxes. I would assume once things get a little more to normal, you would be able to pick your own varieties. As of the writing of this review, if you want specific ones, you can call ahead the day before you want to pick them up and order the varieties you want. So, don't go there now planning to be able to get your own choices. Just FYI. I didn't try coffee or anything else but the are serving Hardy coffee, so you know it will be good. This place is a little out of the way for me to go often but I can certainly see getting up north from where I live to pick these up once in a while. The shop was busy was service was still super efficient! we were pleasantly surprised by the options after 9am - we were worried we'd be left with few options but that was't the case. While there are a few options for seating inside, we chose to eat back home. I love going to Square Donut for a gluten-free donut. My husband loves eating donuts, so he also gets a regular donut. Their regular donuts are very yummy too! They even have vegan ones as they are also very good. The employees there have a good attitude and provide good service. The only thing I will caution patrons is that they don't have their gluten-free donuts in a separate case as a celiac may have issues with cross contamination. Showed up a 9:30 a.m on a Friday, drove 25 minutes across town because we finally had time to make it over here to try it...and they had only 1 vegan donut left. We aren't vegan, and I mean they only had ONE donut in the entire store left. No plans to make more, no explanation or apology. Donut of the month was key lime pie which was hands down my favorite. There was a small line prior to 730a on a Saturday that moved rather quickly and by the time I left the line had grown tremendously. I have passed by this business several times off of Maple and never paid attention to the business until today. Easy to drive into, plenty of front parking, and you get a warm welcome when you step inside the business. Interesting, square shaped donuts, hence the name of the business. Ever since COVID-19 hit the area hard, I've been doing what I can to support local establishments. I recently moved into the area and even farther away from my go-to donut joint. While a Dunkin' is readily available...yeah, no. Not interested in Dunkin, Krispy Kreme or any other copy and paste place when it comes to a quality donut. I was thrilled to hear about Square Donut having opened nearby and ordered a special dozen for the day after my move. The selection is fantastic but the quality and flavor found in SD's creations are what sets them apart from most in the metro. They offer more traditional fare like glazed and cake donuts while also catering to those who dig a more "gourmet" approach without going overboard. The sinfully succulent caramel apple fritter and savory maple bacon are the way to go in that department. Their service solidifies them as a member of not only Omaha's elite bakery community but among local eateries as a whole. Custom orders and letter donuts for special occasions are welcomed while the owners have shown an impressive amount of appreciation for their patrons. SD has knocked all expectations out of the park. This donut shop is adorable! Its located in the shopping center adjacent to the HyVee and has ample parking. The store is small but has a great ambiance. The donuts were delicious, we tried a smores and a glazed. The donut base is the perfect airy-chewy texture, so you could basically add any sweet topping and it's going to be awesome.
