From booking online and getting an estimate on both the cost and moving time, to seeing how efficient the actual moving process was on moving day was. I was so thoroughly impressed. The movers came and were so prepared. They were able to wrap my furniture up and keep everything nicely cushioned for the road. I am very happy with how quick they were with coming to wrap up and load up my things into the truck and unloading everything at my final destination. They were so professional and polite the entire time! They were very thorough with explaining everything to me in the beginning and breaking up the cost for me at the end. They did a great job with sending a confirmation email/text, as well as a reminder text leading up to my moving day. I appreciated all of those little details. Do not use this moving company. Poor serivce. charge by the hour. Take many breaks and lunch break and rack up the hours. 3 men moved us 3 bedroom house and they were not capable of moving my stuff. Also broke my washer and damaged some of my decor and furniture. It's been 30 days since the move no action has been done I've called operations branch managers and still waiting on the damages to be compensated. Quick to take your money and no action to refund what they damaged. Talked to all higher up and stull have not compensated one dime. The motto is to say yes ma'am with no action. I did dealings with them and met the truck and helped load everything Intuit part of the house where it would be easy for the movers to pick it up. Took no care in handling my items especially once loaded. Very careless, fast turns on the road in transit causing even more items to get damaged and broken. Hired them for a local move after comparing some package rates and even with the cost of their travel to my first location they were the better choice. I went with another company to pack my things and move it into storage. Never again. I went back to Square Cow to move from Houston to DFW. They were faster, very professional and packed my things into their truck neatly with extra TLC. They also pointed out the sloppiness of the last moving company and how carelessly they packed my things into the storage unit. And, handed me broken dish pieces they found. Updated: A different manager contacted me after I first posted this review and was apologetic about our experience. He reiterated that they are not really equipped to pack "not carefully" and they train their employees to always wrap things carefully. He listened to my complaints and offered to refund up quite a bit of our cost for both time and materials. He said they wanted to work to make us satisfied customers so we might use them again. So I have updated my review to 4 stars since it was a bit of a hassle but glad that my complaints were handled professionally and courteously. Original post: We booked square cow last minute to pack up items in our kitchen cabinets for a kitchen remodel. When we booked we were up front about our situation and told Kayla that since boxes were not really "going" anywhere that they didn't need to be packed carefully. We were putting everything in the garage so no worry about breakage. Well fast forward to 5.25 hours after arrival and our kitchen was not done. Granted, we have a lot of cabinets. Bryan, the manager, came to our house to check since the crew was taking a long time and said it was a 5 hour job. Considering a friend has his whole 3 bedroom house packed by a different company for a move across town in 8 hours, we just feel ripped off. We also paid $180 for "supplies"- about 21 boxes- which seems a bit crazy. It's so hard to know what a "normal" amount of time for this job should have been, but my biggest clue was when we started unpacking. This took for.ever since they triple wrapped everything. I found plastic solo cups wrapped in paper. They also didn't label boxes so I had to unpack absolutely everything to find stuff like oven mitts, towels. When I have a bad experience I always go to the manager to try to make it right. Bryan initially replied super fast and said he wanted to fix this. He offered to unpack the few boxes we had left but when I declined (for 3 boxes) he said he was having a meeting and would call me back the next day. That was 13 days ago. I've emailed to check in but nothing. Like I said- hard to know in this kind of thing if they are just "running the meter" and using tons of paper and supplies and taking their time, or if we just legit had to get our sippy cups triple wrapped. Movers arrived late, my dresser was damaged and I'm out for $200, but there's a reason I'm still giving them at least 3 stars. The movers were 20 minutes late, but in less than 5 minutes of calling Square Cow I was on the phone with John(manager I believe), who was extremely helpful. With most services being so computerized and automized now a days, I was shocked with the amazing customer service and understanding that he provided. It's definitely something you rarely get now a days. I should also add the movers were also very down to Earth and great guys - just late. Sadly my drawer that was handmade by father was damaged. Albeit it's a beautiful drawer, I still had a lot of respect for the movers honesty and integrity to tell me about it. He promised he would fix it with gorila glue, which they did, it just didn't work since the top of it also got hit and it no longer fits inside. Do I recommend Square Cow? Absolutely. They're friendly, fast, and have great customer service. But in all honesty, did my moving process leaving me somewhat disappointed? Sort of. 4 movers worked hard all day and were very professional. Nothing but "Yes ma'am" and "Yes Sir" all day. Just a 5 mile move but took all day (estimated for 10 hours, but actual was 7 hours as we had packed very well and taken a 15 foot Uhaul loaded myself a few days before) with a 4 bedroom house. If I could give 0 stars I would. I had new furniture that I oy had 1 month. I had to move out of apartment and to a house. They scratched up several pieces of my wood furniture. Couldn't get my kitchen table in house. So therefore it in BACKYARD and td me to take care of it myself. Took heavy boxes and put them on smaller boxes. Crushed lots of things in boxes and also put them all in one room. I would never let anyone I know use these guys. Pay extra and get the job done right. NEVER NEVER. NEVER again. read more

I have used Square Cow Moovers for the third and last time. To start out, the first two times I had them move me, the were exceptional. This last time on July 3rd, was the worst move ever. The July 3rd team tripped over themselves, handled my furniture in the most horrible manner causing scrapes, scratches and gouges to several pieces of furniture. The turned dressers and tables upside down to where the tops were on the concrete floor. They totally destroyed a decorative finial causing it to fly into and damage the top of my cherry wood dining table. Several other pieces of furniture were damaged also, including a noticeable scratch on our king sized bed, two scratches on a second dresser and my office desk. This team was careless. I can't say enough good things about the crew from the Yale street office. Led by James Moore (no relation) with three very capable crew members: James Mason, Eli Eastman, and Elvis Perez. They did an extraordinarily job of packing our 2,500 sq. ft apartment and moving it into a three story townhouse. Not only were they very, very polite and communicative with us, and helpful (they would not let us lift a finger). But their communication with each other was also impressive, as was their attitude. They were also very polite and helpful to each other; like a team would be. A better crew I have not seen before. I think they realize how stressful and tiring a move is for their clients and do everything they can to make it go smoothly, which it did. This review is strictly for the packing services that they offer. I am writing this review as the packing is still going on. After much research, I decided to go with Square Cow (despite them not being the cheapest quote we had received) because of what they said on their website about clients being able to leave their place as is and the packers handling it all. They suggested 3 men instead of 2 but when they heard that I only had 2 beds, 1 tv table, 1 book case, a chest, and a dresser without a mirror, they agreed 2 men would be enough. During the week prior to the move, I did get started on my packing and packed over 75% of my 2 bedroom, 1 study, 2 bath apartment in advance. All they had to pack up was my kitchen and my closets when they arrived. I had called them 2 days in advance asking them if I needed to tell them how many boxes I would need. I was told, "no one can ever predict how many boxes they will need. Do not worry, we will bring THOUSANDS of boxes and all packing material." Great, right!? I was wrong. The two men arrived on time. However one seemed experienced and the other clueless. After a while, I get informed that they did not bring wardrobe boxes because I did not request them. ..that that is a specific request. I don't understand why when I book packers, I have to specifically ask for wardrobe boxes. Isn't that a given that I would have clothes in my closet? Never mind. He said he will wrap them in blankets. Oh well, I let go. Next, I get informed that they forgot to bring packing paper to wrap all the art. So now those would also get wrapped in blankets. I walk into the kitchen and see that my wine glasses are not wrapped but tossed in a box with beverage bottles. At some point they realize, they need more help and have two more guys show up. I was impressed. Thought i would write a rave review after those additional guys really speeded the packing up. Thought they redeemed themselves. Not the case. They stayed only an hour. Now 6 hours later, we still haven't finished loading the truck AND some things remain unpacked still because after using the 20 boxes we provided, they ran out of their own boxes. So I believe the guarantee I was given of having enough boxes for us was false. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because the men who are still here are extremely hardworking, courteous, and willing to help in every way. Plus it just started storming and they are very chill about it! Just really not OK with how management handled the whole thing. I can only imagine the nightmare I would have faced had I not finished majority of the packing. I will update this review to include the moving aspect when I have more information on that. Update: Received a phone call from the manager informing us that they usually pack the day before. Why was I not informed of that? No idea. What can they do now? Nothing. Why are there no wardrobe boxes? My fault. Said they will call me back. No call yet after 2 hours. It's now been over 8 hours. Things are still not packed completely. Truck still not loaded. No extra men. No phone call from manager. AND GUESS WHAT? They are leaving a few things behind because there is no space in the truck. Find it hard to believe when I don't even have a couch, coffee tables, mirrors, dining table, chairs, study table etc...that an average person has!! FINAL UPDATE: Eventually, the whole move from one apartment to a house (8 miles distance) took 13 hours. Some things (approximately 6 to 8 boxes worth of stuff) is still at the apartment which we will have to get on our own. Some boxes have been left in the garage even though they were labeled. I don't blame the guys for it. I am sure they were pretty exhausted. Management admitted to miscommunication and decided to come to a settlement (even though they alluded to going through the legal route earlier when we said we will not pay them for 13 hours of this nonsense). In the end, I respect them for THAT part. Will I use them as packers again? Probably not. Will I use them as movers? Maybe. read more

We were so disappointed in our move with Square Cow. The move took entirely too long and nearly all our belongings were damaged. There was also significant damage to our walls and ceilings. We have moved the same furniture/things out of a 2nd floor apartment and into this house (with furniture re-assembly) in less than 4 total hours with a 2-man crew. This move took more time than that with 3 men just to load the truck (nearly double the time in total without furniture re-assembly). We had a shattered television, a torn box spring, damage to our master bed frame, guest bed frame, and walls/ceilings. We carefully documented the damage but when we attempted to submit our claim, we waited over 30 days for any response. I have called multiple times, emailed, physically mailed our claim form (which was returned once and had to be mailed again because they were moving offices), all to no avail. It has now been 2.5 months and we have yet to have the claim settled. The movers were friendly and courteous, but the management has not prioritized making this right for us. Let me begin by saying that we are a military family and we move a lot...a lot. That said, Square Cow Moovers is undoubtedly the best moving service we have ever used. Chris, Dre, and Jose called promptly in the morning to tell me when they'd be arriving at the starting point and they even got there early. They were unloading a loaded moving trailer that we were not allowed to bring on-site, and they did an amazing job...so much so that they put to shame the packing job our move crew did back home. Once at our new home, they protected the doorways and stairwell to prevent any potential damage. They were quick, unbelievably polite, and professional throughout. LOW-BALL QUOTE AND AMATEURS ON THE JOB. While my realtor suggested one company, I picked Square Cow Movers because SCM had far better Yelp reviews than my realtor's pick. I AM skeptical about Yelp -- and will go with Home Advisor and Trip Advisor over Yelp -- but this time the comparison SEEMED overwhelming. Man, was I wrong. Two good things to report two days into unpacking: Nothing broken and the CL was very personable. Their deficits follow. SCM did a great job of pre-day-of-moving [DOM] contact and confirmation. Then, on the DOM, SCM's admin let the crew leader [CL] and me down. The truck was supposed to leave SCM at 0800, and I got a call from the CL letting me know they were fueled and ready to leave. I reminded the CL this was a full pack and unpack move. His response was DUH, followed by "How many boxes should we bring?" Had I not been committed to the move date, I would have bailed then. WTF do I know about how many boxes it takes to empty a 2 BR 2 BA apartment? I guessed what I thought to be on the high side, as I had recently moved family from a 4 BR house into a 2 BR apartment. And, yes, they ran out of boxes. One more thing about boxes: I mentioned wardrobe boxes, which they brought. What they didn't bring were enough hanger bars! Wn entire closet of hanging clothes were bunched at the bottom of two boxes. Another issue: The $770 bid was based on a 3-man crew. Only 2 arrived. And the FINAL BILL WAS NEARLY THREE TIMES THE LOW-BALL QUOTE. Buyer beware: Either they come out to scope the job in advance, or go elsewhere. The truck arrived around 0900, as expected, and by 2 PM the CL asked me if I was OK with the pace of the packing. Hell No, as I'd expected to be unpacking by that time. I requested two additional men be sent to the job at $50/hour as I had fantasies of going to bed by Midnight. While the initial crew appeared to be working hard, they were very slow and the CL's helper was hopeless in packing. SCM's web site makes a big deal of their "packing professionals". The CL had some idea how to pack dishwater; his assistant put several dishes/saucers/china cups together in a single layer of paper. Now let's talk inefficiency: Two, three, and four men taking single items in each hand, waiting for the elevator, and walking to and from the truck? No flat dollies or other gathering boxes! I've WATCHED many moves in my 74 years, and these guys were clueless. Midnight was looking like a fantasy. And, BTW, if you know you're moving two beds, your tool box has a variety of tools you might need to use. Again, SCM totally failed. A pair pf pliers and that's all?? My toolbox to the rescue, and the CL KNEW from my look he was going to get roasted. Well, I'm a responsible Yelp, TA, HA, and social media poster, so I know better than to name names ion Cyberspace . That said, SCM is waiting with baited breath -- they've emailed and called 4 times -- for the bad newsstand they're getting this via email as well as Yelp. SCM! I WANT A 50% REFUND FOR THIS BOTCHED JOB. YELPERS,. LOOK FOR MANAGEMENT COMMENTS. MANAGEMENT: YOU WERE KIND ENOUGH TO PROVIDE ME YOUR NAMES AND EMAIL ADDRESSES. I'll start out with saying that it doesn't appear that any of my possessions were damaged. They have a professional look and truck. And on to the good stuff....... These guys will milk the clock as much as they can. They move super super slow on purpose to prolong the move. It took square cow 5 hrs to move my one bedroom apartment. It should not take a 3 man crew 5 hrs to move a one bedroom with no large appliances like washer/dryer, refrigerators etc. They'll take advantage of you if you're not constantly watching them and getting on their asses. As an added plus, they'll leave all of your possessions on the street and or sidewalk unattended and vulnerable to anyone who may want to steal your possessions. Unacceptable. I could've paid 3 of my out of shape buddies a case of beer each and this move would've been knocked out in 3hrs or less. I found Square Cow via Yelp! and they had the best reviews and the most competitive prices for the services I needed which was help unloading my moving truck. Great customer service from start to finish. The sales/administrative staff were always timely with responses and even helped with flexibility two days prior to my scheduled unload date/time as I had some set backs while on the road from Chicago. Mitchell and Drake were on time for the scheduled arrival/start time and after the formality of paper work they got to work and wow...they didn't stop unloading for a second. They were more than courteous, efficient, and paid attention to my concerns and questions during the unloading. They were also personable and incredibly easy to work with. Everyone else wanted me to call. If you make getting rate information difficult, I can't imagine you will be a good contractor. I researched several moving companies and Square Cow Moovers had the best price and service for what we were looking for. We recently moved from Houston to Austin and total loading and packing (i had packed about 90% of our place already)/moving/unloading time was about 8.5 hours. We were so impressed with the service from the beginning when we set up the move to the very end when they drove away. I set up the move with a lady named Ashley and she was clear in answering all my questions and quick to respond to all my emails. She explained everything and sent me documents explaining costs, insurance, and a packing supply cost list. Setting up the move was easy and seamless. On the day of the move, James Mack called me promptly before 8am like they promised. He came with Dre and Esteban. They were great from the beginning of the move and James made sure to check-in with me to see if everything was progressing as I expected. After loading the truck, we both hit the road and headed to Austin. When we got to Austin, we figured they would probably not arrive for at least another hour after us, but they were only 20 minutes behind us! These guys were great! I asked for a quote at 4:30 in the afternoon and got one within an hour or two (thanks Chris!). It was a Monday and I moved on that Saturday, and I'm so glad they were sill able to move me on such short notice. They were very easy to communicate with, and their website was easy to navigate and use. When I called to book the move, I left a voicemail and Chris called me back right away. They charge by the hour and they did not waste any time. They started right away and was actually RUNNING back to get more stuff. There was some difficulty because I was moving from a first floor with an open parking lot to a second floor with a gated garage, however, they worked quickly and was still able to keep all my furniture safe. First I want to say Rodney, my crew lead, and Cam were 5 stars all the way. They were fantastic to work with, great conversations in between items, had a few laughs and moved quickly. This place was recommended to me from a friend who used them and moved her fairly quickly. They did the same for me, even when dealing with a loading dock issue, they worked with me during and after the move. Everybody has been 5 stars to deal with. Despite all the reviews, we used Square Cow for a short move in Houston and I was not impressed. I think such a service is highly crew dependent, and my crew was not top notch. They frequently carried too much, resulting in dings to furniture and house door trim, they tore an outdoor patio umbrella, put several deep gouges in my wood floor (which they later "fixed" with a stain pencil). When we arrived at the destination I was impressed how utterly incompetent they were at assembling a fairly simple bed frame from Rooms to Go.. I'm not sure there are any better options, but I cannot rate my experience better than two stars. read more

I moved last week and overall, it was a very good experience. They were one of the only moving companies that actually came out and visibly inspected the home furnishings. All others gave a quote based on size of house and I have been burned by that in the past. Thanks, Rebecca! She was great, and also very helpful w all my questions and concerns. Packing day saw Ben and Chris show up. They were polite, friendly and efficient. The next day was moving day. The same two showed up w Christian as reinforcements. There was more than they thought would be and there was also going to be two drop offs, my apartment and a storage unit. They then called in Trey as further reinforcement. All four were hard working and solid! We finally had everything packed and first drop off unloaded by 6ish. We got to the second drop at the storage unit around 930 only to find that the storage people had not unlocked my unit. The guys repacked the van w what they had already started unloading and said they would store it as is and would come back the next day to unload. Ben and Chris not only showed up again, but their manager told them to not charge me for the added time!! I would highly recommend the company and their people for moving! read more

Isaac the manager took our last-minute order of moving an one-bedroom apartment on Friday. We couldn't be happier. Our time was very tight since the place we moved to has elevator limitation. Isaac set up the right expectation for us which we appreciate it! Tommy and his helper arrived on time, and then two packers came to help. We managed to pack and load and unload on time! Those movers were so fast and professional!! At the end, the price was right and expected! There's no hidden fee. We were happy about it! We used Square Cow to move furniture from Houston to Spicewood. Everything went perfectly according to plan - even got a call that the truck was on the way in the AM. The team was professional from start to finish and treated all our furniture like it was theirs! They were also very accommodating in arranging to take some extra items not on our original invoice.
