This is my go to spot for coffee since it's walkable. I've tried all the other coffee places around here and I will only go to SpyHouse or DunnBros. I feel like everywhere else in NL their coffee is super watered down. I seem to have racked up a ton of reward points and so I opt for a cinnamon roll and I did not get it heated up there since I was there after work in the afternoon so I took it to go and I heated it up in the morning for breakfast and it was so good even the next morning it was still soft and warm and gooey. It was perfect. My favorite coffee drink here is the Carmella latte and I get it with the oat milk. read more

Spyhouse remains one of my faves for coffee. If you're really into espresso and great quality coffee, this is it. I love the cortado. Pastries and light food options are good too, including vegan. I enjoy working from here from time to time. It hasn't been busy to the point of no desirable seats left whenever I've gone, although it does pick up a lot in the summer. They have a patio with additional seating in warm months. Other locations in mpls are bigger. A quiet, clean place, more on the sterile side vs character and decor. Terrific coffee and great North Loop location. Cool building with a nice vibe and friendly service. I really like it here and strongly recommend for coffee. Giving four stars because of the food. I had a $9 egg bite last week that was very hot (temp not spice) and rubbery as though it had been over microwaved. Had a doc appt across the street so stopped at the North Loop Spyhouse Roast for a couple of pastries. There was a sticker price shock, $6.50 each, (gentrified neighborhood prices I guess). the clerk wrapped up the cinnamon roll so tight with plastic wrap all the frosting came off when I unwrapped it. Basically they tasted like 2 day old gas station flavorless donuts. Gas station donuts probably would've been better and sooooo much cheaper. A+ on ambiance though, beautiful place. read more

Love this coffee shop in Northloop neighborhood. Every time I pass by, I couldn't resist the cool vibes coming through the window. It's a great spot for mind wandering, people watching or hanging out with a friend. The good thing is you don't have to sacrifice the quality of food and drink in order to have the ambiance. In addition to the classics, I really love the trademark house-crafted. No flavor is over pouring, which keeps me coming back to try everything. My boyfriend and I decided to have a coffee date on a sunny Sunday morning, and we decided Spyhouse was the place to go! We have been to a few other locations like the Uptown and Northeast locations, but have never gone to the one in North Loop. I LOVED this location, and I'll let you know why: Coffee: Spyhouse always has fun specialty coffees available, and I would recommend checking their Instagram to see what's available. We saw they had an orange vanilla crush latte available, and we new we needed it ASAP. It tasted fabulous, and mine had the perfect ratio of milk-to-espresso (admittedly Jake's spent "a little less time in the sun" if you know what I mean). Forewarning, if you make it to the bottom of this drink, do not drink it to completion! There were orange zests at the bottom that weren't too pleasant. Ambiance: this Spyhouse location is in a renovated warehouse style building. I thought it was absolutely beautiful. I believe there is another side to the coffee shop with more seating available, but we didn't check it out while we were there. We sat at the main entrance that admittedly was very crowded, but the sunlight and ambiance made it very enjoyable. I personally think the Uptown location is a bit dark inside, and the NE location is even busier, so this will definitely be my preferred location. Service: I didn't speak with the baristas too much, but they did kindly take my order and make my drink perfectly! Parking: this location is on the main drag of North Loop, so expect street parking. I honestly had an easier time finding parking at this location rather than the Uptown and NE location! read more

Just stopped in here after a doctor's appointment and before work on a Monday morning. The interior is dreamy and totally transported me somewhere other than pre-winter dark, cold Minneapolis. It probably helped that I got to pet two sweet dogs while I waited for my matcha. The menu is written on a mirror on the wall, which looks really cool but could prove difficult to read. The name of their matcha latte is "GAME. SET. MATCHA." which is adorable. Staff was crazy kind and honestly I want to be friends with all of them. This stop was a day-changer and helped me start my day off on the right foot. Already thinking about when I can get back to this place. No a lot of say about Spyhouse, I stopped in on a Wednesday around four PM. There were about 4/5 customers already seated and one employee working behind the counter. When I arrived she was making a drink, I wasn't greeted or asked to wait- not a huge deal but it's always a nice touch to feel seen. I was only there to purchase baked goods. I found their prices to be a little high, the Love You Cookies I bought were $4.50, cheaper than the website but still high. I can't knock actual Spyhouse for that. When the employee did ring me up it was quick and efficient. I could see myself sitting and enjoying a drink next time. It's nice and bright inside from the natural light outside. I was torn on what to order and always appreciate when a barista can give me an educated answer to help me decide. I was the only one in line so I didn't worry about holding people up. I'm a bit embarrassed to say it took a global health pandemic for me to try Spyhouse, one of the most recognizable coffee shop brands in the Twin Cities. Like many, I've been limiting my in-person visits to stores and restaurants, choosing instead to support our local businesses through delivery. But on a recent early morning walk with my dog, I was in dire need of a caffeine fix. They're open 7 AM - 7 PM for take-out orders during COVID-19, which if you ask me is very impressive. Location & space: This location - open since August 2015 - resides in a contemporary mixed-use development that fits in nicely with the charming and up-and-coming North Loop. Mid-century modern is the vibe here, with statement gold lighting, gorgeous white marble counters and historic knick-knacks carefully placed around the airy cafe. It's layout and lack of outlets doesn't make it conducive to studying, but that's okay because there's plenty of other greats spots in the neighborhood for that sort of thing. I love their spacious side patio, which I've come to realize can be a rarity for coffee shops in Minneapolis Coffee: For $12, I was able to get a cold brew and 16 oz. skim vanilla latte in recycled cups. The cold brew was solid, with a robust flavor. The latte was a bit lacking on the vanilla flavor notes, but in each sip, it was evident Spyhouse uses high-quality beans. Service: I can't speak for how the baristas handle a busy cafe during normal times as I was one of only three customers at 8:30 AM during COVID-19 and this was my first experience. With that being said, the lone barista working during mwas friendly and prompt. A bonus for dog owners: They provide FREE dog treats! read more

If you're looking for a good coffee spot in the North Loop- I'd recommend Spyhouse. I've been going to this location (it's a little, local chain) for years. For our coffee purists- they're coffee can stand on its own. For those like me- who want a little more variety and bells and whistles of coffee- the Caramella (a latte with house made caramel and vanilla), the Spy Girl (a lavender and honey latte), and (for oat milk enthusiasts) the Solid Gold (oak milk latte with turmeric, ginger) are what is considered their specialty drinks. They also have pastries they offer from a local bakery. They're lovely. I really love the chocolate croissant. The line can be a little long- but I believe you can order ahead of time now - great idea! My only critique is once in awhile I'd get a barista who wasn't great at making the drink and that's generally a bummer. The vibe is definite metro coffee house vibe.. which worked for me. They have a few bistro sized tables outside which are nice to sit on in the summer. For those driving in- there is street parking and two parking garages in a short walk. read more

I drafted this review long time back when I was visiting Minneapolis. Just stopped by this place after having a delightful lunch in a nearby restaurant. We ordered a couple of drinks: hot chai and cold brew coffee. I like chai, but I always ask what type of chai they have and how they prepare it before I order it. I like strong chai. The barista was so nice that he said he could put more chai and a little less milk to make the tea stronger. He did a great job! The chai latte was very smooth and tasted good. We also ordered a cold brew coffee. It was just fine, a bit more acidic than I would like it to be. The serving people are very friendly and courteous. And they seem to enjoy what they are doing. The interior looks contemporary, elegant, and inviting. The high ceiling and lots of glass windows make the place look very spacious and comfortable. Look up and see the ceiling fans. I walked inside and it wasn't too crowded for a Saturday morning. This location isn't huge and I imagine there isn't a ton of space if there a people trying to get work done. I opted for a caramel latte and was completely shocked when it came to $7. Trust me, I am all about good coffee but $7 for coffee is outrageous. This is my second spyhouse that I've ventured in and overall the coffee isn't bad but it's also not something I crave daily. For $3-5 a cup it does hit the spot and offer that caffeine jolt you may need to make it through the day. I've not had the luxury of trying their black coffee alone but my fiancé has and states it's a bit acidic when it comes to their iced cold brew. When I do come however, I usually get the Spygirl (soy) latte (lavender & honey latte) which honestly is very smooth and creamy granted it's non-dairy. I also had their chocolate croissant too. It was extra flakey, extra messy, and not very pretty to share. The croissant was buttery and crispy but also had a good combination of sweetness from the semi-sweet chocolate. It was definitely worth the mess however! Overall, I'll keep coming, while in the area, but I wouldn't mind stopping at a chained sbux either. read more
