The most delicious scone on this side of the pond. Comes with Devon cream or jam.
    Linda B.

Amazing start to the day with exceptional coffee latte and this delicious, shareable scone! It was so moist and buttery, it really didn't need any topping but since Devon cream was available, why not feel like you're in London when you're in Saint Paul Minnesota? This is a must stop for myself and my coffee companions.

It's not called this because it's big. Overall friendly baristas and good service. Oh..and duh, good coffee. Not as many frills as other places BUT tastes great and they have fun coffee flavors.

Original Claddagh on 7th is a beautiful cafe to relax with a book, catch some live Irish music, catch up with friends, or sip that Dirty Seamus slowly. The 'Wee Shop' on Selby is not for lingering. Not because you don't wish to sit all day downing their Dogwood coffee or delicious vanilla maple homemade donuts. You can't stay simply because there is just not enough room. BUT that is awesome! That is more than ok, do not fret. More shops should pick up this trend of opening a smaller version of their current awesomeness. Not only does it encourage people to try something new, it helps get the people in and out. Have you ever wandered into a coffee shop only to find there are no spots available because that dummy over there took up a huge table with his laptop and homework, and to the right there's a gaggle of children climbing all over the couches? This sweet spot has 2 small marble tables, and a window bar. Perfect for drinking a cappuccino, scrollin' through your instagram, and heading out on your merry way. I loved that in the 20 minutes I spent there this morning, I counted 10 people come in and out with their choice brews. Pretty impressive for the size. That's pretty much the only 'wee' thing about it - the roasts are amazing, the staff is more than friendly, the desserts are tasty, the shop is updated and trendy, and the location is awesome for some shopping and hitting up the local bars. One thing that is not amazing is their hours - 6:30am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday and 8am - 4pm Saturdays and Sundays. I always wish St. Paul java joints would stay open late, but for now it remains just a dream. A delicious Irish frothy dream.

Wee is Irish for little...which fits this tiny coffee shop. But good things can come in small packages, right? I really enjoyed the "Hot Molly" coffee. The secret ingredient is cayenne pepper!

The latte was a little flat in flavor and as it was iced no foam. I always made my iced lattes with foam in the cafe I worked in. Anyways.

Contrary, coming into the intimate home shop in Saint Paul hit different. As a Saint Paul girly, I absolutely adore small businesses. Marc Heu has a great location across from the co-op on Dale. Due to the pastry lineup altering so frequently, there are no signs detailing the pastry product so there is definitely interaction with staff members to ensure you are getting what you want. The staff is attentive, dressed in uniform and ready to take orders with a note pad upon arrival. Fortunately both days I have went, there were no lines but I also understand lines are common here which is something to be aware of. Inside there are small circular tables to enjoy your pastry and or coffee in. I would not recommend bringing a laptop as this is a tiny shop with an emphasis on eating, mingling and departing. Other reviews will dink stars because they will say the pricing is high however, I think, the pricing is reasonable giving the high quality of baking effort and the quality of service provided. In addition, this is not a spot to come 24/7, rather, special moments such as a birthday, holiday or celebration. With that, I feel like the price is justified. Line or not - the pasty variety is outstanding! My husband and I had a donut with a spiced icing and some other filling and every bite we kept saying yum or oh my gosh this is so good. Inspired from France, you will 100% feel transported as the shop itself resembles France from the interior and obviously the baking follows suit. The display case is the center of attention when you walk in. I highly recommend stopping when in Saint Paul or purchasing at a coffee shop should you happen to see the line of Marc Heu. There are a few other stores in the area, otherwise, Grand Avenue is right up the road should you want to make a day of supporting local. Saint Paul is so lucky to have a slice of France in our city. Thank you!

They were crispy outside and nice fluffy inside with a great buttery flavor. I really hope they keep these on their menu! I also got their strawberry shortcake and butter cream brioche donuts which were amazing. SoYen offers a variety of desserts like their famous brioche donuts that are filled with different flavors every month, crepe cake slices, beignets, basque cheesecake, honey butter toasts, and cinnamon rolls. They offer some savory dishes and I would strongly recommend you to try their congee (perfect for our Minnesota cold weather). They also serve hot and iced coffee and other refreshing beverages. Their location can be a little tricky to find since they're inside a big building but follow the signs and that'll get you there. Parking near can be difficult as they're limited meter parking but there are public paid parking lots around within walking distance. I do suggest to go there when they first open because they can run out of certain items. A few things to note: there is no sitting area inside the restaurant but there are a couple of high tables and chairs right outside in the common area. There may be a little bit of wait while waiting for your order but it's totally worth the wait, especially if you ordered your food to be toasted. Service is usually fast and the host and staff members are super friendly!
