We had to get up early and drop somebody off at the airport and decided to drop by and try the place, thinking that they would still be warm. There was quite a selection, but we had heard how great their blueberry fritters were, so we ordered four of them to go. We had to drop two of them off, and go to the airport before going home, so they weren't warm by the time we tried them, but it was worth a shot. At first glance, the fritters were "cooked" to perfection, with the perfect color and obvious bits of blueberry on display. The first bite, proved that there was a crunchy outer layer, and the inside was dense and included what I could call tiny/mini blueberries. There was a taste to the fritter that neither my wife or I could identify, but it was coming from the outside of the fritter. After each bite we had to drink something to lose the taste. We also found that the mini blueberries were crunchy, almost hard, and took away from the experience. I was talking to a friend, whom has tried the fritters and didn't have this issue, about the taste we had, and he said it sounded like something could have gotten "added" between the fryer and the glazing process. He even went as far as to say it could have been the oil from the frying process getting trapped under the glaze. When I think back, the taste of oil best describes what we experienced. Always excited to try new bakeries in town! I'm always looking out for something different than a Dunkin' Donuts. The parking is the same lot as the Wells Fargo bank, and unfortunately the drive through lane is not for this bakery. Very clean inside, nothing special/different, a little cramped, only 4 tables. Good prices, good variety. The sprinkle donuts seem to be the specialty and the name sake of the store. Hey will be opening up a second branch on McCarren very soon. We got the blueberry fritter, which was buttery with a nice crispy shell. Very delicious, especially with coffee!! The Bavarian on the other hand wasn't as impressive. The donut itself was fluffy and not too sweet, but the cream inside was weird! It had an odd flavor, almost like they used too much of the thickener - starch or whatever. So that was disappointing. However, I'd still come back to see if they work out the kinks in a few weeks. read more

My first visit to Sprinkle Donuts. It was later in the day, so was pleased to find nice full selection for my dozen donuts. Noticeably clean premises and prompt service. We bought the donut bars and creme filled. The bars were longer and thinner than most and particularly light and fluffy. I do prefer a little heavier donut bar but they were good. The round chocolate topped creme filled ones were deliciously delightful and my personal favorite. I must note that this dozen did all disappear and with others purchased elsewhere, I have found a few stragglers that were not eaten. My only concern was when I opened the box, the young man had put all the long donut bars on their sides! Never seen that before, not pretty and not appealing. After a couple of days in Reno, I had the idea of taking some donuts back home. I figured this was much cheaper & fresher than the casino bakery. The lady working the counter was very polite. Hubby wanted a coffee, it's a self serve at the register. That's great since some people like heavy cream or light cream. This way you know it'll be made to your liking. First of all; I am a self appointed donut connoisseur. I do NOT like Krispy Kreme and Dunkin' Donuts are my #1. I have been meaning to give Sprinkle Donuts a try for weeks and finally managed a visit. I purchased a half dozen and some donut holes. I really enjoyed the soft cakey (but not in a heavy way) center and the perfectly well done, slightly crispy exterior. It was almost like an soft crust. The topping ratios, even on their "fancy" donuts was perfectly dolled out. I'm not a fan of excessive, hard to eat, toppings. They just seem to be a hurdle between me and my precious (the donut). They have adequate seating and tons of convienent parking. I'm not sure if they can manage it but the only things that could improve this cute little (new favorite) spot would be a drive thru window and outside seating! Great new Reno addition! My wife and I found this gem one Sunday after grocery shopping. We stopped in and were pleasantly greeted by the woman working. We got a half dozen doughnuts. The glazed is one of the best glazed doughnuts we've ever had. They are light and airy. We tried some specialty flavors, like blueberry, which was so delicious and not to sweet. I've been going here since they opened. I've been in there since the pandemic. However, there is one worker (lady) with glasses, who does not wear a mask. When I come in and she's there, which has been twice now without one, I walk out. She's exposed to donuts which are in an open case. Even though she uses tongs, she can still breathe on the donuts and contaminate them, if she had the virus.
