I won't be returning to Robbins - EVER. I wasn't always impressed but had been going there to see the previous owner and they had my history so I stayed. The last visit in 2024 they provided me with the wrong prescription and went and actually bought glasses ELSEWHERE (THIS IS THE KEY WORD). When they came in (a few weeks later), they were terribly off. The place I went was very aware of the issues with Robbins and said many people have had the same issue. I went into the office and they said I can come in and have a new test for 50 dollars. That IF I had BOUGHT GLASSES FROM THEM it would be free. I asked for the previous year's script and one eye was way off - like the numbers were inverted - .100 vs .010 (no one's eyes change that drastically - in one eye, in one year). I asked to speak to the doctor who wasn't available. The staff was rude and didn't care about my problem just repeating we can give you a new exam and denied it could be human error even seeing the last year exam claiming that huge change COULD happen. I asked the doctor to call me. Instead of backing his work and business, he chose to have his eye glass tech to call me who could do nothing. I've had to wait one year to get glasses so my insurance would cover the exam. That is poor business, especially in the healthcare business. I don't complain often about businesses but want others to know - find someone that has a good reputation within your community and go there. It will save you time and money. read more

Friendly Staff, who don't seem to know what's going on. Make promises and don't deliver on those promises meanwhile ripping you off. Business seems profit oriented and not patient oriented. Staff: The staff is very friendly and polite, overall 5-star experience. The problems start when you ask detailed questions or billing questions, the more questions you ask the lower your bill seems to get! Experience: I was promised a comprehensive contacts exam where I could try different lenses and pick the one that fits me. Being new to lenses I decided on the cheapest one and I would change if I felt discomfort or it didn't work for me. Well, I ended up with these contacts because it "worked for me", if I had picked the more pricey option I guess I would be stuck with those instead? They promised me a $200 third party contact lens rebate saying I would "end up making money" of these contacts. I go online and realize it will actually be a $30 rebate at most. After a $120 exam and $213 contacts I ended up paying about $180 out of pocket after this rebate it will be $150. Overall when trying to make sense of my options for contacts I felt very pressured to buy what they wanted me to buy, when asked for an explanation the doctor went on a rant about how the eye works and the molecules of my lens solution... Frame Selection seems to be very limited in this place, first-time glass wearers don't expect to try on a bunch of frames to find what looks good on you. When I tried to ask about getting my own frames at one of the million online places that sell cheap frames they quickly persuaded me to purchase from them. If I recall correctly my frame was "premium" and cost $420 or so. Luckily insurance paid all of it. read more

Robbins eye care is has the rudest know it all women working the front desk. The submitt billing incorrectly such that your vision care does not cover your visit. Instead they bill your medical insurance first cause the medical deductable to be part of the equation. Beware of Robbin eye, as the lie to your face. read more

Terrible business. Couldn't get my prescription correct and I needed to go back because the glasses were making me seasick! The prescription was completely too strong for me. I told him I wanted to "back off" (his terminology) at initial office visit and he didn't. I needed to be rechecked and he charged me $49.99! Like what?! I have nothing but positive things to say about Robins Eyecare. I was just in there and was treated with upmost respect and kindness. The entire staff was very well educated and friendly. Brand new, high quality equipment has been purchased. Dr. Robins is very thorough and explains everything to you as he goes. At the end of your testing, he will sit back and ask you if you have any concerns or questions that he can answer so you feel very comfortable when you leave that you're satisfied. I have nothing but high regards for Robins Eye Care, Dr. Robins and his employees. I've been a client of Springfield Optometric since 1969 when Dr. Donatelli was the owner. When Dr. Donatelli retired, he explained to me that he was selling his company to a very capable doctor from out of town. He said he was very confident that he would continue giving the same great care that he and his employees gave me all those years. I also love going in there because it's very cheerful with their color scheme and you can tell it's done to make their clients happy. And job well done with my experience there always. I highly recommend them for anyone in need of eye care and a comfortable environment. read more

I have been going to Dr. Robins for the past few years since I finally got glasses. I find the whole staff to be friendly and competent. I had an on going issue that I felt like Dr. Robins took seriously and encouraged me to come in during "flare ups" so he could accurately diagnose the problem. Would recommend to anyone read more

Answers all of my questions and have a machine that can take pictures of your eyes instead of having to dilate them (not covered by my insurance, but not too expensive- worth avoiding the hassle that dilation is for my eyes). read more

Unfortunately, I will no longer be coming here. Dr. Robbins have been great, but I don't care so much for the receptionist. I had a scheduled appointment for my routine eye exam. The person did not verify the insurance nor did they let me know that they longer accepted our vision plan at the time of scheduling. If I've known, I would have looked for another provider. Upon arrival for my appointment, I was informed that they no longer accepted our vision plan. I said I was not aware and was met with an accusatory tone that they "definitely" told me when they scheduled an appointment. To me, that is not good customer service. I told them I did not want to keep the appointment as I have to pay a high copay and was not prepared for the extra expense. The receptionist hung up abruptly. This was my second experience with rude staff. My first had involved them giving me the wrong glasses. I brought in my own designer frames and they gave me back something else totally cheaper. It didn't match the description on the receipt that they gave me and the staff argued that it was the same frame that I had brought in! I pointed out that the size of the frame that they gave me did not match the ones that I dropped off, which was indicated on their receipt. The staff still argued with me ‍. Eventually, another staff stepped in, apologized, and made an effort to locate my glasses. It took them another week before I got my glasses. Glad that I'm not coming back. read more

Avoid at all costs. They routinely steal from customers. They claim to accept insurance but don't bother looking up your plan. They practice "balance-billing" which is completely unacceptable and often illegal. They charge covered exams full price if they think you're dumb enough that they'll get away with it. Unimaginably terrible customer service for those who figure out the scam. One guy, Dr. Fleisher, runs the whole show, you can barely even talk to anyone else. If you've already been - call your insurance company and meticulously compare what was billed and have the company call about any issues. I went in to pick up my glasses and after half an hour of being ignored I finally said to the attendant can I get some help I've been waiting a half-hour he thought it was funny and told the other guy she said she's been waiting a half-hour LOL. If there was any way I could have gotten my money back I would have just let them keep the glasses. The attendant never asked nor checked to see if my glasses fit properly on my face I was just giving them and he went back to talking to the other guy. Decades old customer. Dr Dana retired and everything changed. For decades, if my contact lens scripts did not change, I was not charged the extra 65$ for the check. Last week I was told by the same rude white haired Doctor (owner) who changed my script minutely last time to get the upcharge that I was mistaken. That never happened he said...if it did, we don't do it anymore...imagine that. Then he rudely asked if I wanted the Contact check or not. I asked him if I could be billed. Before the last syllable was out of my mouth, he blearted WE DONT DO BILLING. A 30 year patient. He couldn't Bill me 65$!! HE THEN ASKED IF I WANTED TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! He then coughed into his hand and continued his exam with washing it. I let him do his 5 minute 65$ vision check. I asked why the Contact points that touch your face on the vision machine and the chin and forehead contact points on the glaucoma and measuring machines are no longer stocked on those machines. He said they're probably cleaned by the attendant after each use. The attendant told me the tissues that go there were on back order. Which is it? I asked the Dr if he thought hygene at an optometrist was important...he then, obviously perturbed by the peasant patient, wiped down the obviously cruddy spots that were gonna be pressing on my face. Another very pleasant female Dr with a possibly Eastern block accent handled my eye dialation. I went into the bathroom to put my contacts back in. I ran the hot water to wash my hands for 5 minutes. It never got hot. Imagine that. I let the attendant know he should let the owner know that it's a Health violation not to supply got running water in that bathroom. The patient waiting area has been chopped in half to accomodate more retail. read more

Cattle are treated better being brought to the slaughter. I went here for years, had always had very complete exams and felt my eyes where well taken care of.I MISS DR. DANA!!!!!! I went for an exam for both eyeglasses and contacts and was out of the office in 15 minutes. I was rushed and treated indifferently. That includes a glaucoma check. I spent more time paying my copay than I did with a physician. read more

I have been going to this office for 20 or more years and never had an issue. The practice was bought in 2016 and it all changed!!! The office staff is incompetent. I went in for an eye exam for my diabetes that had nothing to do with my contacts. The dr and I briefly spoke about my contacts but nothing I felt was billable. I was told when I called the exam would be $99.00 , but when I went to check out with an office member who had no idea what she was doing I was charged $69.00 for a contacts consultation when we barely discussed my contacts, my exam was 95% about my diabetic eye health. So I was definitely screwed out of $69.00 for sure. When I called to make my eye appointment I had specified that I needed a receipt to mail to my insurance company to be reimbursed for the eye exam which needed to include a tax I'd number, my new last name (I was married since my last appointment) and written proof the eye exam was done specifically for diabetes. When checking out this became a fiasco!! The office staff had no idea what to do, I was told a receipt would have to be mailed to me (not happening) and that the doctors wife would not be able to accommodate my needs for the receipt and again I was told I would have to wait for something to be mailed to me. At this point my husband stepped in and dealt with all of this. I will NEVER step foot in this office again. It makes me sad that I have been going here over 20 years and now I will have to find another eye doctor. I am also not some unintelligent person writing this review. I am a registered pharmacist for over 20 years in the retail environment and have a good idea as to how billing works and customer service and this office has got some serious issues and my guess is due to these problems they will fail. It is also off putting that Welfare is accepted at this office but my private military insurance is not. I am glad my husband served his country in Afghanistan and they do not accept military insurance or a military discount. I will be back to check yelp and I guarantee the reviews will continue to be bad for this office. And I guarantee they could care less. Hope the $69.00 was worth it. read more

I have been going to Springfield Optemetrics for 20+years. Dr. Dana was awesome and the girls that worked there were too. Until they were bought out. Just had the worst experience of my life. Ordered contacts (which are dailies) 3 weeks ago, got the run around that they were back ordered!! WHAT? Never had they been back ordered before, EVER!!! Then was told they could get me samples, which they did. Thank you! But how do you get samples and not the contacts ordered?? Had to get more samples and was told the right eye would be in on the 18th, what I can only see with one eye?? don't think so. Picked up the samples and got my prescription, (which I was told was good for another year) yeah, right, only good until the 20th of the month. Ordered contacts (exact manufacturer) same day and they were cheaper and are on their way to me now. I called and called and was put on hold for more than 10 minutes every time, most times no one picked up. Definitely going somewhere else. Had to drive 45 minutes to get there and am done with that too! read more

I am very pleased with Springfield Optometric Assoc. The staff are fabulous! Every time I walk in for an appointment, the staff are smiling and very accommodating. They make you feel at home. I see Dr. Paluch and I receive a comprehensive eye exam every time. She is very thorough and personable. I am also very impressed with the new high tech piece of equipment that they got this year that allowed me to have images of the back of my eye in lieu of dilating drops. I would highly recommend this practice to my friends and family! read more

I went here with my girl friend this past weekend and holy moly was it awful. Basically because of Dr. Fleisher. (AKA the guy who probably shot Bambi's mom). It seems like the rest of the staff tries to be helpful but he won't have any of it. She drove out there from Boston because they had messed up doing her prescription and given her frames that did not fit well. She called ahead and the person she spoke to said that she could exchange the frames for a new pair since they did not advise her when she bought them that they did not fit. After she arrived she was talking with the person at the front desk and Dr. Dingbat came limping out from somewhere and said "you will not exchange those glasses here." At various points while she was dealing with other doctors and staff he would but his head inand make mean comments and be totally unhelpful. I whispered to my girlfriend that if I was to describe what I thought the personality was of a Nazi prison guard, it would be Dr. stick up his but. He has no desire to help people, just make them suffer. He doesn't understand that by saving his business some money on an exchange it probably costs him 10-20 customers. Anyways, if you are one of those people that is into pain and suffering and weird stuff like that then this is the place for you. If you would like a helpful staff and want to get something out of your visit to the eye doctor than I would avoid Dr. Devil at all costs. read more

WORST experience with an ophthalmologist I've EVER had. I would absolutely tell anyone inquiring about Springfield Optometric Associates to RUN, not walk away from this place! At least from Dr. Fleisher! He has a flat personality, is belittling, condescending, impatient, and unappreciative. After shopping around I was told a contacts appt. with Spfld. Optometric would be $80. This was much cheaper than the $115-$130 other places were quoting me so I made an appt. When I got there the staff was very friendly and helpful, however I thought it was a little odd that my payment wasn't taken when I checked in. I was told "depending on what service I needed it may be a little more". When I was situated in the office chair and Fleisher walked in the room, (my first ever appt. with him)- he didn't even shake my hand or introduce himself. Talk about unprofessional! He got a phone call while in the room with me (full blown ringer).. didn't even say "excuse me"- took the call and left the room... came back...then when he was explaining something to me very dry and fast in ophthalmologist lingo, I replied with a question because I wasn't really understanding and needed a little more clarification (I don't do this all day, every day- like him). He replied "Were you not listening?!" in a tone of voice that was very demeaning and hurtful- I was treated like an inferior, not a patient who chose to give him my business out of all the other ophthalmologist offices out there! His rudeness caught me off guard and led to tears forming in my eyes, to which he commented "Are your eyes always this red, or just today?"- He was clueless! My eyes were perfectly fine when I first walked in! Then he got another phone call (full blown ringer) while in the middle of my eye exam, (the machine was literally pushed up to my face) and, surprise surprise- once again, left the room with me sitting there baffled. Somehow when I was checking out from this horrible experience the total came to $129.00-- to which I was about to question (it was supposed to be $80 or a LITTLE more, not $40 more!) with tears still forming in my eyes -when Fleisher was lingering around and shot me a dirty look. I couldn't even get my question out-because I didn't want to actually cry- just handed the receptionist my card (I still don't know why the charge was so high) and I had to tell her I'd call to schedule the follow up because I was literally about to cry (How embarrassing!)- I left balling my eyes out. He treats his staff with NO respect, patients with NO respect... I have no idea how he is still in business! AVOID HIM at all costs. Dr. Greene however is great! (I had my follow up with him). I was informed the charge was so high because "changes were made" (Fleisher suggested/ pushed me to try daily contacts instead of biweekly ones.. I said sure, and this is what caused the price to flare up). I truly feel sorry for the overworked, probably under paid employees who have to deal with this oblivious and mean man daily. read more
