I had a Great experience with Madeline. She was specifically dialing in the correct pair of contacts and prescription. Madeline was phenomenal! I left reading every sign and phone number on my way home. I could see like I hadn't seen in a longggggg time! Thank you Maddie!!!! Grateful! Appreciative! read more

I am leaving a review for Sixteen Acres Optical. If you need contacts, this is the place Dr. Brittany is Unbelievably the Best! After my eye exam, I could read the bottom line on the eye test! I am very Grateful!!!!! Dr. Brittany Bausch has been working in the field of optometry since she was 16 years old, as an optometric technician. Doctor Bausch attended UMass amherst where she obtained a bachelors in Public Health with honors. She then achieved her Doctorate of Optometry at MCPHS University, also with honors. Doctor Bausch is trained in the diagnosis and management of ocular conditions including diabetic retinopathy, keratoconjunctivitis sicca, and many more. She approaches every patient on an individual bases and strives to offer the best and most comprehensive eye exams. In her free time she enjoys working out, traveling, shooting pool, and spending time with friends and family. Maddy was also a true professional in her field! read more

Called to schedule an eye exam and the receptionist immediately said, " we're not accepting invitations". No explanation, no courtesy, nothing. Based on the other 1-star reviews, the experience I had feels completely justified. The lack of professionalism is noticeable from the first interaction. For those who left five-star reviews, I'm genuinely unsure how their experience was so different. read more

Unresponsive and disorganized office. problem is they never follow up with customers to communicate with me when they encounter order issues and whenever I call no one ever knows who I am. there is a single person at the office who is apparently responsible for this order but no one else in the office has any idea about the order which I paid for in full 5 months ago. still I have nothing to show for yet. yes it's true that the manufacturer is out of stock but when I finally learned that my original frames were not in stock I allowed a color change at their suggestion - then again I heard nothing back...for weeks eventually when I called back I learned that this too was out of stock but they never told me. seems like they just don't care read more

Recently my wife went here to get her Mass health glasses. The salesperson put on enormous upsell pressure no matter how much my wife said she just wanted her basic mass health glasses. The salesperson also either lied or did not understand my wife's insurance benefits. The woman was aggressive and would not take no for an answer. My wife left feeling disheartened and not wanting to ever return. read more

Horrible!! NO STARS!! September 2021.. I dropped off my prescription for new glasses with prism ground Into the lens in the left eye. They DID NOT grind The prism into the lens. They gave me stick on prism Over the right eye. Which was the WRONG eye. They Cut the prism to fit the wrong eye! Not only that They handed me the glasses which took at least one Month to be made, possibly a week or 2 longer)... They handed the glasses to me to finally try on And they were FILTHY!! You could see the brown Dirt on the lenses! Not just a smudge or finger prints But brown grime With small chunks of dirt ON THE LENSES. Both sides of the lenses! It was so gross and Impossible to understand why they would hand me the New glasses and not see that the lenses desperately Needed to be cleaned. I will never ever go back to 16 Acres Optical. Neither should you go there! If you Have a difficult prescription or even a simple one DO NOT GO HERE. - MD read more

Two times isn't a charm. I visited this location years ago and had an eye exam done by Irena Paluch. She was very pushy and unable to understand what I was telling her about my vision (which was blurry, which wasn't, et cetera). I figured she's the doc, she knows best... well, my glasses were never right. So I went to a different doctor to have my eyes examined, that went very well, but their store didn't carry a particular brand of frames that fit my head better than others. So here comes 16 Acres Optical a second time. First, they wanted to charge me $230 (after the initial $130 was covered by my insurance) on a pair of frames that I was able to buy from another distributor for $124. They wouldn't even come down to a reasonable level (as in say, 50% more than $124, they'd still make $62 and I'd only have to pay $56). And it gets even better! Instead of selling me frames and at least making something, I purchased the frames and brought them in because they have this Chemistryclip thing for a sunglasses attachment that's at a fair price. All said and done, I was able to walk away from the whole deal paying less than they just wanted for the frames alone! Alas, here I am, now 3.5 weeks after order, and I'm still wearing my old glasses. Why? Because apparently, "They'll be ready in 1.5 to 2 weeks, Sir" translates to 3.5 weeks with at least another week before I'll see them. I'm actually at the threshold where I want them to simply send my frames back to me and I'll go elsewhere. This is absolutely the last time I'll do business with this place. To sum it up, their doctors are pushy and impatient, their staff is incompetent, their prices are through the roof, and they're actually willing to not make money rather than negotiate a fair price! All in all, I don't even know how they're open aside from the giant signs everywhere saying they take Mass Health. read more

This review has to be below a 1 star! I have been coming to this office for 18 years now and I have been treated horribly by this one particular woman in this office. They DO NOT take care of their patients that have been loyal to them! I would not recommend them! read more

This must be the worst optical place in New England. I went in to fix my daughter's glasses and no one even noticed me walk in or even bothered to great me. When I finally asked where is the receptionist I was rudely directed to her where I found her with head tucked in behind desk. She looked stoned and sleepy and the rude person, one of the so called experts fitting glasses, had the nastiest attitude with everyone... She was sitting barking orders at customers and co-workers alike. Finally a man came from the back room took the broken glasses and asked me to wait without telling what he was doing and left. I didn't even have the chance to ask what he was doing before he left with my glasses. He came back 10 minutes later with the fixed glasses. Ok so that was one cool thing that they are actually capable of fixing broken glasses. More stuff happened that I can write two more pages about but I'll spare you... Bottom line, if you're looking for customer service avoid this place at all cost. read more

I would like to say that if your looking for a nice selection of frames look elsewhere. The selection of frames is so limited and the few they do have are from 5 years out of style. One of the worst experiences I have ever had at an eye doctor/store. DONT GO read more

If I could have I would give in this place is 0 stars but you made me pick least one This place is absolutely the worst around had an eye appointment which took almost an hour had to sit and listen to the doctors full of stories about being antisocial as a child I really don't care about your childhood next they had to order a special contact for me needless to say say that I needed a second appointment for them to be fitted by the doctor now I get to wait yet another week for an appointment why couldn't they have made the appointment when I was at my original appointment I asked to speak to the office manager and I get the doctor's assistant these people are a joke. I sent my daughter by herself mind you she is seventeen since I was home sick they proceeded to bully her into buying contacts from them and jacked up her bill to over $200 where I could have ordered them for a third of the price online read more

I called to schedule an appointment and they were booking 8 weeks out. Not idea, but I scheduled anyways. I realized that I had never gotten confirmation of this appointment so I called to check to make sure I had the right date. Turns out, they had scheduled me the day before the date they given me and put someone else's phone number on my account, so I missed the appointment. I asked to reschedule and the incredibly rude woman that answered the phone on 10/6/2015 simply said, no I won't reschedule- its not my fault we have someone else's phone number in our system for you. Needless to say, I told her I'd find a different doctor and I hung up. I wouldn't even bother calling this place. read more

Great selection of frames and a very friendly staff! the office was very clean and everyone was very welcoming and professional

I have been going here for over twenty years. My original eye doctor at this practice retired ( Dr. Dyke). Though he rarely cracked a smile, he gave a damn good exam, and went out of his way for me several times. They have fixed broken glasses for me many times over the years, and the few ladies who have been there for many years whom I know are always pleasant. Just last week, I stopped by there almost an hour after closing time ( it was a Saturday and I didnt remember what the actual closing time was), and I was let in to conduct my business. I was recently there again for an eye exam because I am on new medication that can potentially cause blindness if not watched carefully. Not only did they give me a typical eye exam, they also had me do one for peripheral vision ( had to have a separate appt.). In all the years I had gone there, I never had to have this test, which was one that I think everyone should have at least once in their lives. I feel badly thar a few reviewers don't like this practice. I even moved about twenty minutes away ( used to live about a mile away from them) and still travel to go there. I personally would recommend them. They also accept all insurances, which is tough to find nowadays, and they write 18 month prescriptions, which is unusual. I urge anyone reading this to at least give them a try. read more

Back in July, I decided I was tired of juggling readers and have recently noticed the slightest decline in my distance vision. I'd worn contacts briefly about 30 years ago and thought it was a good time to try again. I had a prescription in hand from my eye care physician, and one already on record at 16 Acres Optical for eyeglasses I had earlier purchased there. So, should be routine, right? First visit consisted of a cursory exam and an "adequate" pair of contacts. Returned several weeks later for a follow up. I don't know the name of the gentleman who "examined" me, but as an ex medical pro, I was concerned with his demeanor. He seem to be totally unfocused on me and spoke, I'm sorry, nearly incoherently. None of the necessary adjustments were made and I was told to carry low-power readers. What? Enough. Went directly to my eye care facility and made an appointment for two days later. My eyes and vision were THOROUGHLY examined. I was fitted with bifocal contacts. It took a few 4 hour days to "train the brain", but I now read without readers, and the overall clarity of my vision is amazing. My 16 acres contacts with exam was $160. The contacts went to the trash. Do not recommend. read more
